This sounds like a super interesting book. Adding it to my list. I also love kpop/kdramas etc. and for many years now. I went to see IVE in concert earlier this year and will be seeing The Boyz in just a couple of weeks!!! I love Shinee, Seventeen, Red Velvet, GOT7 and on and on and on. I love kpop so much. The Tale of Two Sisters is one of my favorite horror movies. Most recently I finished watched the drama Hometown Cha Cha Cha and loved it.

For movies, "20th Century Girl", "Parasite", the movie "Taxi Driver", "Fashion King".
Of those you mentioned, I myself have seen "Extraordinary Attorney Woo", "20th Century Girl" and "Parasite". I would also agree that "Ddu-du Ddu-du" (especially the remix version) and "Cheer Up" are really good songs.
Mr. Breen is definitely one of those with a lot of experience and deep insight into Korean society. Even though I'm afraid I have to disagree with his argument, it is worth listening to him. If you are interested in Korea and its history, it may be beneficial to check Prof. Odd Arne Westad's book "Empire and Righteous Nation" or Scott A. Snyder's "South Korea at the Crossroads." I have several complaints about Prof. Westad's book because the book exclusively focuses on a specific period when Sino-Korean relations used to be stable. However since Prof. Westad is basically interested in Chinese politics and history, his approach is quite understandable. Scott A. Snyder, who is now the president of the Korea Economic Institute of America, is the best expert in modern Korean politics. He may understand Koreans better than Koreans understand themselves.
