Such a great documentary. Thanks so much Mr T for the shout out and the opportunity to be included in your video. Also, I thank you tonnes for all the info you share your videos and the priceless information to offer during your consultations. Huge hugs.
Hi again Cerise - Many thanks for all your kind words and compliments, and it's me who's grateful for your input to this video :) Hugs back from Mr.T ***
First time I went to the DR. I' was a Yacht Captain on The Catch Yellow bird of Chicago, We stopped off in Porto Plata. Parked the Boat at the Sugar docks, all gated with the Cpt of the port as our security guard. We liked it so much that we spent a few months there. Had my first Presidente at the blue restaurant in the back S - E corner of the Plaza. Lots of good Memories. Hardly any Cars or Moto-concho, but Donkeys and Horses, it was like going back in time. We stopped in Sousoua, But hardly anything there. A long pier with a Restaurant, it is long gone by now. Remember this was back in 1968. I've been back a few times at a later date to visit my friend Tom who ran the Norwegian restaurant on Sousua ( Alisia ) beach, but died from cancer some time ago. Still got a few Norwegian Friends Over by Cabarete. Thank's Mr.T. your Videos brings back some Good Memories. My heart is in DR.
Hi Kurt. Many thanks for watching, your kind compliments and for commenting! I knew Tom quite well, nice guy who many here miss having around. His old place on Sosua beach is rocking again now with live music and lots of expats attending the "Rehab Bar" - good times there again. Take care! Brgds Mr.T
@@EducatedTraveler : Small world. Glad that you knew Tom. It was like a daily routine to walk the Beach, and have a large cool beer and Lunch at Tom's place, it was a hang out for the few Norwegians that lived or visited that area of RD. Thanks Again for your Videos Mr.T. I' really enjoy them. And thanks for your replay.
Good and informative video here, thanks and keep it up. I came to DR by myself for the first time and I never felt unsafe there by any means. I'm experienced with traveling to other countries considered as 3rd world and it is always the same: Don't be flashy, don't act like an idiot and don't walk around totally drunk and you will be safe for the most part.
Well done Mr. T this video had a nice flow a lot of valuable information great footage and photographs. The people were also very genuine and it was nice to see a lot of positive feedback from your speakers and viewers. Congratulations on yet another excellent video they just keep getting better and better.
Mr. Montana!! Thanks a lot for watching and your super nice compliments / feedback. Such feedback is part of the fuel that keeps me making them - cheers my brother from a different mother!!
!!Congrats 1.000.000 viewers!! Aw my god, Mr. T. dancing in the intro, once you looked, you can't forget about it ;) Great vid, as always. Many thanks for your continuing output of great informative vids. Is it possible to show some real DR food and your opinion on it?
Many thanks Michael! I'm very happy you like my videos. I am always taking feedback on what folks would like to see in up-coming documentaries, and yes despite that some of my videos do show various food, then one about real DR food could be a good one + educational to myself as well. Here I discover new info about the Dominicans and their lives all the time, so give me some time and I'll see what I can plan on that topic, cheers. Take care! Brgds Mr.T
Gracias Mr T. I love all your videos , they are very helpful. I am a Dominican living for the last 22 years in USA and can't wait to retire in a couple o years to spend winter in my beautiful country. I have a question; How much it would be to rent a small apt. for a month on the beach in Sosua?
Hola Fidelina and thanks for watching! On the main beach there are only shops, but there are apartments in other coastal spots. You probably need more in-depth help sourcing this and you might have other questions as well, so I can suggest you hire my consulting services - just send me an e-mail to info@educatedtraveler.info and I'll be happy to send you my price plan, cheers! Brgds Mr.T
Im traveling there in april with friends from europe ,whats the wheter going to be then and mr.T where is e the best place to exchange moneye intor pesos on Dr,thanks
Hi Josip! Thanks for watching! In the beginning of the video seen in the pasted link, you will see and hear the explanation of the best exchange place: th-cam.com/video/C0wLlCxtvtM/w-d-xo.html The weather in April would be hard to predict now. Could be a mix of sun and rain, but it's better to contact me on this closer to the time of you heading this way. brgds Mr.T
Hi Mr. T - would you say all this still applies today in late 2020? I asked my friends if they would come with me to the DR and one piped up and said "no way it's too dangerous." I kind of blew it off because I don't take a couple of news stories about some tourists at resorts dying as proof all of DR is dangerous.
Hi again! As I always like to reassure travelers, stay in the public eye, as then you're safer than a holy cow in India. Join a tour or experienced expats, and you'll be safe from any thieves, as down here they are always trying to get away with their BS discretely. Everyone down here notices everything, so it's all about opportunity theft for those who dare. You'll be just fine! Brgds Mr.T
