  • Guys looked I learned how to pronounce Raboutou.
Brooke Raboutou is one of the most fun prospects in the climbing world, and her climbing is subtly brilliant. In this video, I break it all down.

I couldn’t believe how comfortable she looked when using that bolt hole as a foot. I can’t even comprehend that level of precision, technicality, and confidence.

As a short climber she is incredibly inspiring to watch - particularly her bouldering in the Olympics 🤯 I love the part where she highlights her physical strength compared to mental, it's so clear in the clips and very relatable to what I'm currently working on this year!

As a fairly recent climber, the olympics was the first time I even heard of Brooke Raboutou. But I instantly became a fan, she’s just a blast to watch. Watched salt lake city right after, watching Brooke is some of the most fun I have watching climbing, really excited to see how her career progresses.
Was also very pleased to learn she would be featured in that “climb for gold” movie. The cast was pretty much a list of my favourite climbers.

I'm so inspired by her climbing. She's so fun to watch and she proves that physical size shouldn't limit your ability to climb. The Salt Lake video is on youtube in its entirety and it's exciting the whole way through.

Out of all climbers, she's one of my favorites. I definitely see myself in her, such as lots of extra footwork, her smaller height, and unconventional beta. Hopefully I'll climb at her level someday though :)

I'm from the US, so I'm a total homer about this. There are several women on the comp scene right now I love watching climb. Janja, Oriane, Jessie, and more. But I love watching Brooke climb. I'm 162.5cm, so not tall, but a little taller than her. Whenever I get frustrated by how reachy a move is, or generally feel like I'm getting punished on a problem for my height, I remember how she climbs.

Uhh...climbing competitions are international. The climbers are generally listed in cm. What's so funny?

Not only is she short but she’s got a -1 ape index if I’m remembering correctly. She’s shorty inspiration!
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we started to see her confidence shift when she started training at TC. It’s awesome to see all these athletes blooming.

Watching women climb is very cool, especially shorter women. I am blessed to be very tall, and whie that is usually ideal in beginner climbing, it is always fascinating to see shorter climbers solve problems with way less to work with. it's also interesting to see how men and women differentiate when using their hips, legs arms etc to climb. climbing is appealing to me because it is so natural. you are just using your body to do natural movements to move your body, on the earth. very simple. love the videos

You've done The Magician, now try The Dancer. Johnny Dawes was a premier rock climber in the UK during the 80s and 90s, putting up some of the hardest trad routes in the entire UK. He was the first to do British E8 (Gaia) and E9 (The Indian Face). The latter route has had no more than a dozen ascents in 3 decades due to the overwhelming danger, and even into modernity, remains one of the most famous rock climbs in the UK. There is footage of him projecting a sport 9a slab in 1985, The Meltdown, which remained unclimbed until 2011. His climbing style is fluid and precise. He flows up the rock with such form that it is beautiful. I would have personally always described it as being magic, which is why the title of this video interested me in particular, yet The Dancer (or pick your own!) also suffices. Beyond his preternatural ability to rock climb, the personal character of Johnny Dawes adds an extra dynamic to the multiplicity. I think it would make for an interesting video.

oh yeah and now out of training in his mid 50s, he still climbs routes, admittedly much easier, without using his hands. Arguably the greatest footwork in any climber.

Your videos are well edited but your points get a little redundant. I feel like you say the same broad things about every climber. I can tell by how you analyze climbing movement that your understanding of climbing movement is at the beginner level. Perhaps study movement a little bit more for the next video? I say this all in the name of constructive criticism so I applogize if this comment sounds negative. Cheers.

This explains why I find small women so fascinating in sport. It's partly supporting the underdog, but mainly the creativity and imagination they have to use. Tall people like me can easily break betas but not in an interesting way.
