wow, as a carat, i really appreciate this. i do agree that seventeen's routine don't have that "everyone follow me" factor unlike what most groups do but i still enjoy watching them dance because of all the intricate, subtle movements, formation and level changes. there's just so much to see in their choreo. it's like watching a whole broadway or something lol but thank you for critiquing seventeen's 24hr choreo. i hope you can dissect their other dance practices too!!!
Seventeen don't do bandwagon that's why i became a fan. i discovered them because of their music and choreo not because of the trend i love them so much
The only choreographies i can think of that have that moment where everyone can dance to are clap and left&right, and even those are hard for me to do lmao
For me, Seventeen has the best choreos in kpop. Best group no cap✨

SVT’s “Left and Right” had a point choreo that got the TikTok treatment, and some of their earlier dances also had catchy point choreo to make it easier for fans to dance along. But their artistic choreography (like this one, or Falling Flower, for example) is just pure enjoyment and eye candy for us Carats. Their performance unit also has a release called “Lilili Yabbay” that is more modern(? It’s not hip hop, but I’m also not as well versed in figuring out the different genres of dance. Perhaps it’s contemporary or lyrical or something? Sorry not helpful lol) Hope you guys get a chance to watch their other dance practices - there are a few that are more theatrical (Home;Run is one of their latest), which is one of the things they’re known for. They also just released a new song “Ready to Love” and dropped a dance practice video for it too. (And lastly, there are 13 lol they were supposed to debut with 17 but lost a few members predebut. The reasoning behind keeping the name Seventeen is 13 members, 3 units (vocal, hip hop and performance), 1 group.
I don’t mind this cos I trust Seventeen’s talents. 2605% confident 😌

SVT are self-producing idols but they still have a production and choreo team behind these masterpieces. For their choreo, the main choreographer is Choi Youngjoon of Team SAME. They also have their yt channel pls check it out, the name is TEAM SAME if I'm not mistaken. The performance team especially hoshi still contributes to the choreographies a lot and there are songs wherein he's the main choreographer 🤗
I would like to correct the person that said SVT choreographes everything, they do have other choreographers, and the members of SVT are very into the choreographing with their choreographers.

seventeen is a group with 13 member, 3 unit (vocal,performance,and hiphop), so why 17, its 13+3+1 = 13 member plus 3 unit make 1 team ,

Just a note tho, even though they are very involved in their art direction, they still have team that helped them choreographed their songs (especially the main title songs)
As far as i know there are choi youngjoon, team Same, team Look and their creative director, yoon hyerim.

Svt are honestly the kings of dance and synchronisation, it’s so satisfying to watch them dance
Yes SVT are very involved in making their choreographies but they don't make everything..they work with choreographers ..but they do chip in a lot..they put in a lot of ideas..that's why choreographers love working with them
we both as carats and self taught kcoverists really appreciate this reaction to the 24h dance practice! it's so detailed and interesting to see a technical breakdown of all the things they are doing and you all are incredibly detailed and enjoyable to watch! about the point choreo thing, as many other carats have probably said already, their summer 2020 comeback 'left & right' was a very tiktok oriented choreo, the catchiness of the song was perfect to make an easy and memorable choreo. but i do feel like that isn't really the route seventeen ever goes for, almost all of their choreos are very (as you said) dance troop-esque and complicated as to memorable. so i feel like after left & right, they created home;run which is arguably one of their most difficult choreos (the members said themselves that they would rather do hit 5 times than home;run 5 times). i don't remember any choreos where there is a very easy point move, most of their choreos are insanely difficult and intimidating. that's probably why i saw an influx in left & right covers opposed to their other dances. seventeen are definitely not easy to cover and seeing how everyone reacted to the killing part of 24h, i had the same thoughts running through my head as i covered it. the commentary was fantastic and hilarious and i really do hope you check out hit, home;run, fallin' flower, or call call call in the future!

i just wanted to mention that although the comment about the masks are true (they are many times used for aesthetic effects), a more common reason for the masks-- especially in East Asia-- is fine dust. In South Korea especially, there are days when fine dust from the busy streets of the cities become too much for some people to breathe without the masks.

Oh about the mask thing ( I just thought I would explain it lmao )
Idols (or people who live in South Korea) wear masks most times because of fine dust, and because the air in South Korea is polluted. so for safety precautions, masks are worn (they're worn even more now because of covid-19 though)
And idols also wear masks to yeah, hide their bare faces (w/o make-up)

they're called seventeen because they're
13 members + 3 units + 1 group
13+3+1 = 17
(pre-debut they had 17 members but 4 left so now they're 13 so they just went with it 💀)

They do have point choreos too but fans would participate in the performance with fanchants more than dancing along most of the time I think, especially for Japanese releases. For Carats we do have a dance-chant for their song Lucky where our dance moves would link to their moves (We "hit" an imaginary ball and they "catch" it on stage, etc) but its not common and it also depends on the particular fandom's own culture? I don't think Carats are generally into doing dance challenges on tiktok lol they tried with Left and Right but it didn't really catch on.

in my opinion seventeen is known for their intricate choreographies that require ALL 13 members to be complete so i don't really mind that most of their choreos don't have that one point part that can be easily replicated.

with you mentioning that you feel like they should take their shirts off, I think during 24h stages there's always at least one member with a crop top or see-through shirt, most notably, wonwoo in the mv
Seventeen's choreo doesn't follow the trend. It matches the message they want to express within the lyrics and music, which set them apart from other groups in this industry.
