- Here is a nice How-to video on repairing a deer strike on your truck. If you have a 2012 or newer Ford diesel then this might be a good video to watch on install, parts and possible things you may come across. Including a few tricks like welding plastic with a soldering iron. If you make stuff in your garage or are a shade tree mechanic, you might like this one.

My son hit a nice 8 point white tail coming out of a church parking lot. I hit a doe at 4:00am on my way to work 1/4 mile from home. My other son hit a deer with his Cadillac. $10,000 insurance claim. We live on a golf course and see deer almost daily. My wife has not hit one with her suv but they eat every flower I she plants. The joys of country living.
i hit an 8 point buck at 45 MPH... both sides of the road were wooded with high banks. The buck jumped from the woods and once its front legs hit the road, I hit the deer. But i was driving a 1983 F-150, not a 2013 or 2023... so, a couple of the screw mounting brackets of the plastic inner grille had broken.
Breakdown: None
Parts Replaced: Zero
Cost of Accident: $0... called the police and then a friend who picked up the deer -- the police provided a document to take the deer legally; the friend had the rack mounted.
When it's all said and done the front end looks better now. 👍 🏁

I appreciate how you specify that the sizes are the bolt heads and not the threads; it always drove me nuts when people would say that a bolt was the size of the wrench when we both know that the bolt size is quite a bit smaller than the wrench/socket size.
That drives me crazy as well.
Years ago I taught small engine repair and one of the first lessons was all about hardware sizes vs wrench sizes and torque specs.

Great video Colt! Lovin' the new channel! Great insight and content for us shade tree mechanics... and ford owners! Only deer I have ever hit was with my 89' F250 with a 9' Meyers snow plow... all I saw was her hooves go by as I slung her off the road... got it mostly shut down before I got to her, but enough to relocate her off the road. I got stopped in time for her to stand up and look at me like, "Dude... I'm walkin' here!!!" Then she bounded off into the forest none the worse for wear... Thanks again for the great content!!! I doubt that your average Ford dealership could have completed that task as expertly as you did. And it would have taken them much longer because the shop guide would have called for 16 hours labor. And at $150. Or more per hour you’re talking some bucks. Great job Colt and associates.

I watched my brother "rebuild" the front end of my sisters 76 Dodge Dart after a deer strike. Lot's of sledgehammer work, soldering the rad and it was back on the road.

Your methods of removal are WAY BETTER than mine. I generally use the "Oh Shit" method when removing clips and the like.

Great job guys . I love the new bumper and grill at the end of your video. We have to be careful where we live in Northern Utah because of the deer that roam our neighborhoods especially at night. We can hear them at night waling around and making all the vocal sounds that they make. But with that we also have to watch out for mountain lions as well. I've ordered condensor and radiator from RockAuto that were double boxed way better than Autoparts store packaging.
I hit a 4 point buck with my 2000 Silverado He was so big his head rapped around the side and his rack dented my drivers side fender. All I had to replace was the Trans cooler! Built Ford Tuff as a Coors Can!

I changed an AutoZone water pump every year while in the mountains deer hunting for 3 year's on the 4th year i actually bought a new one from napa and took it with me just so i didn't have to get a ride back to Evanston to get a new one it never went out again.

Superglue and baking soda can make some fairly strong repairs. The baking soda instantly cures the Superglue, use liquid, glue first and then layer as needed.

Crazy how much damage a deer hit can cause. In my 60 years of driving in Minnesota and the Dakotas I'm proud to say I've never hit a deer. However, a few have hit me.
Colt, it MAY be too late by the time you see this but while in Oregon, go to "BuckStop" bumpers & pick you out a deer killer bumper. I have one on my Dodge Ram & it's saved me from Several Deer and a bear.

Looks great Colt. I've always have said it may be made in China but an American has to remanufacture it to make it work. I still believe China sends the USA their defects.
I know it's difficult to not just make your videos on the road but to edit or insert but there is a correction that needs to be addressed in your verse at the end of your video.

Welcome to Oregon Colt. This a common issue as there are lots of deer here. I have taken the same hit to the front of my Toyota and the most skilled driver can not avoid them.

With it that far apart, I'm surprised you didn't replace the water pump. They are notorious for water pump failure.
We typically hit one a year in Michigan.

Watching and Coming from Australia which is a Metric country. I notice you speak snd use Metric Tools. When did the US move across from the good ol ( what we used to call) Imperial / AF to Metric.
There's still plenty of bolts that are imperial standard but the front of this Ford just happened to be all Metric😉👍

Welcome the 4corner states. Where you need to invest in a cattle guard or make one. Imagine a elk slamming into the front. Be safe out there.
You are brave, not filling the antifreeze before putting the condensor and stuff in, would have sucked if the Auto-Bone one leaked
ODFW is going to require you to travel with deer tags in the glove compartment, and you can only drive it in October and November
Here in rural Lane County, Oregon, there are 2 kinds of drivers. Those who have hit deer and those that are going to hit deer. in 47 years. I've hit eight deer two survived. 6 got butcheted and ended up feeding us. Even when you are hyper vigilant, they will surprise you.

Might be a good time to invest in a bull bar/ grill guard bought one for my Duramax one mine after I bought it from the dealer and bam I hit t2 deer simultaneously saved my truck frm serious damage

Which bumper did you use. 2012 F250, most after market winch bumpers stick out too far. Look at a hidden winch mount, but the 2012 is over $600! (the 2020 is only $200???) why? Love your continent.

Beware of the kamikaze deer.
First on a doe jumped out in front of my JK bent a 3/16 winch bumper, broke the grill, coolers, upper radiator support and driver’s side fender.
Number two hit me in the driver side fender, not much more than a walk. Just turned on to the highway saw him coming watched him walk into the side of my JK.
Number three I never saw I was driving a friends f150 it hit the driver’s door put a big dent into the door and down the box side 😢
