Not a bad tournament from Raducanu. She did pretty well in the first set but will have some good things to reflect on in terms of what you have to do to be up there with the best.
Iga is too good for Emma now, or too good for all other players. Only Iga can beat herself. The others are so relying on their big guns, that just doesn't work every day.
Result was never in doubt, but I expected Emma to push Iga closer in the second set. Looked like she ran out of gas… Iga was really stretching Emma side to side on the longer rallies. Also Iga can run down anything. Emma is a tremendous player but unless Iga falls off a notch or runs into a power player that can neutralize her power who is having a great day, she is going to roll through the majors.

Iga is just amazing. The biggest problem for Emma yesterday was that Iga was able to inject pace and depth in all possible scenarios, even though she was squeezed or in defense. With most other players it will be a short soft ball and Emma can just come in with another big hit, but not with Iga. Simply too good.
@@Berighteousone He defeated player who is in that category, like Sakkari and Bencic, and Haddad Maia definitely has chance to get there. The point is Iga’s defense and counterattack are incredible, definitely the league of her own. The other players can’t just get the ball back so fast and deep, yet Iga just did it again and again.
Yeah I agree, Emma often found herself ahead in the rally’s early in the first set but didn’t follow through clinically enough, she didn’t end the point when she needed to and then eventually Iga would find an opportunity to switch from defence to offence and then win the point. Then from the middle of the first set Emma just ran out of steam and Iga grew in confidence. But it was still a positive match for Emma weirdly (despite the poor score) She was being aggressive overall and was going after Iga’s second serve, she got a few cheap points of the return, instead of hanging around and hoping Iga would miss like other players do.
At least Raducanu made it to the 4th round and that's an improvement. Too bad that in the second set she looked like she was just giving up. And let's hope she doesn't fire her coach because she couldn't get past this match.

The big difference between these two girls is that one harvests more wins than the other (Swiatek) and Emma Raducano harvests many more millionaire advertising contracts than the Polish one. Neither of them loses and they have a promising future assured, as far as money is concerned. IMHO!
But in the money stake Emma will always outscore Iga as long as she gets into the later stages of tournaments simply because she's more marketable and if Emma wins Wimbledon which is quite a possibility since grass is Iga's weakest surface as she has never made it past the fourth round at SW19 in three attempts ,the sky is the limit in terms of earning power for Emma.
I wonder why Raducanu doesn't use deep cross-court shots more to make it difficult for Iga?? I see Emma returning most shots to Iga's Forehand... On the other hand Iga kept making Raducanu run around.. I also find the fitness level of Iga much much higher than Raducanu..

These conditions - super slow court + heavy balls are tailor made for Swiatek's top spin heavy game. She'll be very hard to beat at IW. Emma played well at the start but ran out of steam by 2nd set. On a faster surface like grass or USO hardcourt with lighter balls she can be much more competitive with Swiatek.
As an Emma fan I'm actually quite relieve that she isn't moving on. As other players like Medvedev, Tsurenko, Rybakina and Pegula have all pointed out, these slow courts and heavy balls are terrible for the players' wrists, elbows and shoulders. Injuries are on the rise because of these slow HCs and they should not be allowed. I hope she'll skip Miami and go straight home to London to sort out the wrist issue or give it a proper rest. Playing through injuries is never a good idea, it'll only worsen it. It'd be a real shame if she has to miss Wimby or USO - surfaces much more natural to her game, because of these stupid unimportant tournaments like the "Sunshine Double" or the clay season.

Almost unbeatable, except that she lost her most recent matches against Sabalenka, Rybakina and Krejcikova. Still, she is the best by far over the past 12 months.
beaten by the world number 30 less than a few weeks ago 6-4, 6-2. losing easily to someone down at that rank is no machine.
Unbeatable? Lol. Lost Wimbledon and Australian open. Far from Unbeatable
Swiatek has got this all around capability. She gets her opponents to the angle she wants and then she guides the ball in the area where there is no way to respond to it fast enough
This round quality is insane, feel like a new era of woman’s tennis is finally coming with Iga and all the other top ranking players not only technically but also mentally prepared.
Second set: 13 winners for 3 unforced from swiatek 🤯
Did you count, or are the stats available somewhere? In Set 1 she made so many UE's, that would have been difficult against Sabalenka, Rybakina, or Krejcikova.
Emma racked up all the assists.
Because, she destroyed her opponent in the first set with intensity 🙂

1ga is extra motivated when playing Emma and Coco, that is clear as day. Reminds me of Serena being extra motivated when playing Sharapova and Azarenka, and I'm loving every second of it! The level 1ga reached in that 2nd set is absolute tennis perfection! Great fight by Emma too, looking forward to seeing more of her development this season. Well done to both and good luck 👏
I think Świątek's motivation is to bring a 'chance champion' back to reality.
Extra motivated why? there is nothing between them, besides Gauff and Emma do not have the level to fight against her for the big titles. Between Sharapova and Serena it was a great rivalry!
@@LikeReaL1902 she's extra motivated in my opinion because of the media hype surrounding Coco and Emma. Serena and Venus were similarly determined to put people in their place based on achievements 👀 that's what great champs do.. 1ga never lets up when playing these 2 ⚔️

@@amerajanovic4841 Weekend fans are hyped. There's nothing special here - Coco often looks like she already lost when facing Iga, and Radu is hardly even there - bc she struggles to win 2 matches in a row. What's epic about it? @@lequipefourteen822 from Emma's point of view this has been a successful tournament considering she wasn't even 100% certain of playing at all due to her tonsillitis and wrist issues before the tournament. Defeating two top 50 players with minimal training and match play plus gaining 120 ranking points is definitely one Emma would gladly take before the start of the tournament as she should climb up a few places after this. Continue this good form before the French Open and she should be back in the top 50 before Wimbledon.
Not a bad tournament from Raducanu. She did pretty well in the first set but will have some good things to reflect on in terms of what you have to do to be up there with the best.
She definitely has improved since last year
Iga is too good for Emma now, or too good for all other players. Only Iga can beat herself. She stays so low, that makes her move fast and get under the ball easily, perfect ground strokes and perfect angle. Emma doesn't have strong serve or baseline to overpower Iga at all, it ended from the beginning, but she still fought bravely, best game from her perspective. We love Emma, but she has a long way to go to beat a player like Iga.
Agree, Iga, if she doesn't start catching flies in the net and paint the outside of the court with the ball, there's no one who's going to dare a predator.
Disagree, any of Rybakina, Sabalenka or krejcikova can beat Iga.
@@ahmedabdullah8909 It's obvious looking at how they developed their skills. Hopefully since Ash left there has been a BIG FOUR that can dominate women's tennis for a few years.
@@ahmedabdullah8909 Sabalenka made some really nice improvement on her serve and forehand this year. I watched her beat Iga in Dallas recently, but if you want me to bet money on those two, I still put it on Iga. The margin for others to beat Iga is still small. Sabalenka went all in, used first serve as second serve in the game, on a sunny day, that can work, but the margin is just low. Iga plays with not only skills but also brain, just like Barty. The others are so relying on their big guns, that just doesn't work every day.
@@zarkadiusz123 I call that a tuning process for her, usually she does some in first set. LOL
Result was never in doubt, but I expected Emma to push Iga closer in the second set. Looked like she ran out of gas… Iga was really stretching Emma side to side on the longer rallies. Right now, with Barbora, Iga’s nemesis, out of the tournament, I see Rybakina as her only challenger left. Sabalenka? No way.
I think lack of stamina.. and Iga has better placement
@@IwanFuryoIga was very good and hardly missed though Emma didn’t play well enough to push her out of position so she can’t start those angles as much putting Emma on the back foot.

@@jw5003 I think you need to look objectively that Sabalenka three years older should be better against still developing Iga, Rybakina is only 2 years older and her big asset is the huge serve, but if Iga as a best returner according to stats can engage her to longer rallies, then Iga surely is better, especially on the forehand of Ryba.
If she meets rybakina. Iga will beat her convincingly

Crushed what Emma is playing well enough to make it to round 16.
Many reasons but look at the margin of shot over the net Iga uses aka Nadal. She uses wicked spin which neutralizes her opponent. Also Iga can run down anything.
Emma is a tremendous player but unless Iga falls off a notch or runs into a power player that can neutralize her power who is having a great day, she is going to roll through the majors.
The IW crowd is really disrespecting Iga. Last night they cheered more for Bianca, today for Emma. No wonder she was grunting, she practically never does that, and saying come on with first pumps despite a 4 - 1 lead in the second set

The biggest problem for Emma yesterday was that Iga was able to inject pace and depth in all possible scenarios, even though she was squeezed or in defense. With most other players it will be a short soft ball and Emma can just come in with another big hit, but not with Iga. Simply too good.
Most of players? Lol. Emma has Never beaten a top 10 player

I thought they have the same balls across the US tournaments which are lighter than everywhere else? Are they using them only in certain tournaments there?
