I'm just curious, because I know that these were well known as part of The Live Mike, that ran from 1979 to 1982, I believe that he actually did these candid camera stunts before that show even aired. I'm just wondering when they actually started and as part of what show before The Live Mike?
I've actually seen another sketch of these where he's posing as a travel agent, and the customer at the desk at the travel agents is smoking there too. I've seen audience members smoking in old clips of The Late Late Show in the early 70s. It all looks so weird looking back on it nowadays.
