@GESvids Joshua here. You understood my questions perfectly. I completely agree with you all on the debate. There are a lot of believers out there that are wondering about these things out of fear of becoming "unborn" or "forfeiting Everlasting Life", and I thought it would be good to discuss it further in case it wasn't clear in the debate. I've heard of the view that Steve Gregg holds and it doesn't seem consistent with scripture. I've been there before in regards to living in fear that I can be God's son one day and then the next not, and it can be a traumatic experience. Thank you guys for covering this and for your ministry.

So you agree that a believer can stop believing and become a satanist that God will allow that person in His kingdom?
Would God have to let the satanist worship satan in front of the angels and God and the Son?

@2Chronicles714_ I believe that a person can believe on Christ for what He promised and receive Everlasting Life. I do hold to Eternal Security.
Even if a person is in that scenario that you presented, I believe either one of 2 things is true. Either they were never saved to begin with, or they have gotten seriously confused and involved with the wrong crowd and have become carnal.
I don’t think that God is just going to look at them and say “Oh what this person is doing and saying is fine.” and then just goes about His day ignoring people who have fallen away. I do believe that God disciplines those who have fallen away, and if they continue in that state, they could not only lose rewards but also die prematurely.
But there are some I believe were never saved and some who are that need to be addressed and prayed for by other healthy believers.
But even if I encounter a person who is in the exact scenario you presented, I’m going to treat that person as someone who may be an unsaved person and share with them the Gospel.
Please believe me I didn’t just wake up one day and believe in Eternal Security because a Pastor or Teacher said it’s true so therefore I must believe it.
I did not always hold this view. But I had to go back to the scriptures and dive deeper into the word, Greek, historical context, etc. and do the best I ca. through prayer to look at scripture from both the Eternal Security side as well as the Conditional Security side with all of the objections that both views bring up through scripture, challenging passages (John 15, Hebrews 6, Hebrews 10, James 2, etc.) and to be honest it was a very traumatic experience for me because I had to ask myself the same question Bob Wilkins was asked years ago, “Could I be wrong about X, Y, Z?”
I used to have a more Lordship Salvation view, but there were a lot of issues I ran into with that POV. My story is a long one, and I know not everyone will agree with me and that’s fine.

Zane clearly taught a man-made unbiblical doctrine.John MacArthur recounted a conversation with Charles Ryrie, asking him.
How did Hodges come up with his teaching that you can be an unbelieving believer? Ryrie said Zane had a friend who departed the faith, and Hodges tried but couldn't bring him back to the faith, and the friend died in that condition. Ryrie also said Hodges had nobody on his side.
Hodges to comfort himself for his loss decided to override God by now teaching that you can be an unbelieving believer.

For every single verse used to somehow prove loss of salvation there is going to be the question, well, how many sins, what is the concrete meaning of the sin that causes loss of salvation, what is the bar that is set and how is that bar objectively set so all could easily understand without relying on a certain teacher's definition. Salvation and Loss thereof is a very stark contrast in one's life's direction. Something extremely dramatic would have changed in someone's life to go from Heaven bound to losing salvation. The incredible importance of this would seem to require a very clear understanding of how and when this would theoretically occur in someone's life. Throwing out general concepts of, oh well, it happens somehow where some people may have lost salvation because it seemed they did, comes off as very indefinite. It also allows a very indefinite presentation that usually causes concern in people's lives as to whether they are close to losing salvation and realizing they can never really know for sure when that might happen or if it already had. My gut feeling at that point is one gets a very confused and unstable soteriology. Usually just relying on thoughts that, well, I am likely OK and shouldn't worry about it. It's not deeply reassuring.

We are not saved because of our prayers, because we repent or anything else. We are saved because the Lord Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins, past, present and future.
And it is so well written in the Bible. I got that the already the first time i read the epistle. Its sad that we still talk about the very basics.
And God send His son (to take our punishment) out of grace. He did not owe it to us. And that all about it. Believe that with your heart and you are saved for eternity. How long is the everlasting life in John 3:16? Its everlasting. Just because you believed.

is the everlasting eternal fire still burning in Sodom and Gomorrah? That everlasting fire has been out for 1000's of years, Maybe 'everlasting fire' mean something other than a fire that never goes out.

      Universalism: Will God Save Everyone?
January 1, 2016 by Bob Wilkin in Grace in Focus Articles
      Universal
What Is Universalism? Universalism is the belief that every person who has ever lived or who will ever live will spend eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ in His kingdom. In this view the lake of fire will have only fallen angels and demons as its residents. No humans will live there. That, of course, means that not a single human will experience eternal torment.
What Is the Appeal of Universalism?
Hopefully none of us wants any humans to miss the kingdom of God. Of course, God Himself does not want that either. That is why He sent His Son to die on the cross and make everyone savable. God wants all to be saved (1 Tim 2:4).
So it certainly would be great if everyone came to faith in the Lord Jesus and was born again. Then everyone would spend eternity with the Lord.
But the Bible is clear that the way is narrow that leads to life and few find it (Matt 7:13-14). Even in His own ministry the Lord Jesus found that most of those to whom He preached rejected Him and His promise of everlasting life (John 1:11-13).
Those who teach universalism suggest that God simply overlooks the fact that most people do not believe in Jesus for everlasting life. He grants it to everyone. Thus there is no condition for salvation.
The appeal is easy to see. An eternity with all humans experiencing unending joy seems much better than one in which many, if not most, humans are experiencing unending torment.
Biblical Evidence in Favor of Universalism
Most people who argue for universalism argue on the basis of logic and philosophy, not Scripture. They reason like this:
Major Premise: Everything God does is good.
Minor Premise: Condemning people to eternal torment is bad.
Conclusion: God does not condemn any people to eternal torment.
Some verses of Scripture are cited to support their position. Most of these revolve around unlimited atonement. For example:
God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself (2 Cor 5:19).
He died for all (2 Cor 5:15).
God…is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe (1 Tim 4:10).
He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world (1 John 2:2).
The Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world (1 John 4:14).
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29).
      Women and Children
      Biblical Evidence Against Universalism
The problem with trying to use Unlimited Atonement to teach universalism is that the removal of sin as a barrier between us and God does not mean that all have or will have everlasting life. It simply means that our sins no longer keep us from having everlasting life. But as the Lord Jesus Himself said repeatedly, it is only those who believe in Him who have everlasting life. He also indicated the opposite, that those who do not believe in Him don’t have everlasting life:
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:18).
“You are not willing to come to Me [= believe in Me] that you may have life” (John 5:40).
“If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins” (John 8:24).
John the Baptist also said the unbelievers will be eternally condemned: “He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on Him” (John 3:36).
The Apostle John said, “And the smoke of their [unbelievers from the Tribulation] torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Rev 14:11). He also said, “The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and false prophet [two humans] are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever” (Rev 20:10).
In the famous Great White Throne Judgment passage John tells us that all unbelievers of all time will be judged by Christ after the Millennium. He says that the Book of Life was opened, “And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire” (Rev 20:15).
In the Sermon on the Mount the Lord alluded to the Great White Throne Judgment. He said,
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven [cf. John 6:28-29, 40]. Many will say to me in that day [the Great White Throne Judgment], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness” (Matt 7:21-23).
      What Difference Does It Make?
Evangelism becomes unnecessary if everyone will spend eternity with the Lord.
The message preached by universalists who evangelize is radically different. Rather than saying that Jesus’ death on the cross means that all are savable so that all who simply believe in Him have everlasting life, they say that Jesus’ death on the cross means that everyone is saved, whether they ever believe in Jesus or not. They can gladly tell atheists and agnostics and Muslims and Hindus and people of every belief that they will spend eternity with the Lord no matter what they believe or do not believe. Of course, since that is a false message, that sort of evangelism is worse than no evangelism at all.
Another sad result of people teaching universalism is that they win converts. People who once believed in justification by faith alone can, and sometimes are, led to believe in universalism. Then they in turn influence others, for they find this doctrine very important and liberating. So instead of keeping it to themselves, they seek to proselytize others. To the degree they have success, they cause others to suffer shipwreck regarding the faith.
A final tragic impact of universalism is that the literal meaning of the Bible is abandoned. If one is able to reject all the clear passages cited above that indicate that those who do not believe in Christ will be eternally condemned, then anything in the Bible can be rationalized away. We can simply reject whatever does not seem right to us. And we likely will do that too. Once someone adopts an unbiblical position like universalism, then the Bible loses much of its power to shape and direct our lives.

I have a hard time with the people that say they believe Jesus is God come in the flesh and then say he got salvation wrong, he said it is everlasting, not us. Why would God say it is forever, and then say it may not be forever, he doesn't, men do. People read what Jesus said, and then believe Paul whom Jesus inspired, to contradict what he himself said, makes no sense. Paul said Christ gave him by revelation to usward the knowledge in the mystery of Christ, Jesus did not say in many scriptures it was everlasting or eternal, and then tell Paul, or Peter, or John, that was not true, people only misunderstand as Peter said in 2 Peter 3:16.

To go to Heaven and be saved(eternal life), believe on Jesus Christ(who is God and Savior). Believe and trust in Jesus alone that he saved you. Also to be saved, believe and trust the gospel that Jesus died for our sins, was buried and rose again. The gospel is according to the scriptures for our justification of our sins.

when we come to the higher understanding of God's word and find that 'hell' was never in the bible until the dark ages and it was put there to control the masses in ignorance. then salvation is no longer about going to heaven in death , but is about being saved from sin while in this life. Everyone goes to heaven when they die, so that carrot on a stick theology with heaven as the carrot as the prize is a moot point. Nobody is saved from hell because hell is a myth and man cannot be saved from something that doesn't even exist.

@@AlvinFen what is the lake of fire
the lake of fire is the furnace of fire that Jesus spoke of in the gospels. and the furnace of fire is not hell, it is the affliction that was coming on Judea in that physical world.
The phrase 'furnace of fire/fiery furnace' /lake of fire as used in the past scriptures by the prophets has always meant, to imply affliction caused by the power of God to bring calamity on a nation, namely Israel
replace 'furnace' with the word 'hell' and see if it fits the eternal punishment in hellfire theology
      Deuteronomy 4:20
But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace(hell), out of Egypt, to be His people, an inheritance, as you are this day.
      1 Kings 8:51
(for they are Your people and Your inheritance, whom You brought out of Egypt, out of the iron furnace(hell)),
      Isaiah 31:9
He shall cross over to his stronghold for fear, And his princes shall be afraid of the banner,” Says the Lord, Whose (hell)fire is in Zion And whose furnace(hell) is in Jerusalem.
      Isaiah 48:10
Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction.(hell)
Now it is especially important to pay close attention to the Ezekiel 22 prophecy because that is the prophecy that was about to be fulfilled in Jesus day a couple of decades after He was crucified(in that generation)
here is the prophecy from Ezekiel 22
17 Then the word of the Lord came to me: 18 “Son of man, the people of Israel have become dross to me; all of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead left inside a furnace. They are but the dross of silver. 19 Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘Because you have all become dross, I will gather you into Jerusalem. 20 As silver, copper, iron, lead and tin are gathered into a furnace to be melted with a fiery blast, so will I gather you in my anger and my wrath and put you inside the city and melt you. 21 I will gather you and I will blow on you with my fiery wrath, and you will be melted inside her. 22 As silver is melted in a furnace, so you will be melted inside her, and you will know that I the Lord have poured out my wrath on you.’”
The language is figurative to describe an affliction that would bring a purification to Israel. It is the same language that Jesus used and that He gave His apostles to write down.
None of the above OC prophecies have anything to do with the afterlife, nor are those apocalyptic purifying prophecies intended for anyone except OC Israel.
Even Jesus said He was sent ONLY to minister to and warn Israel.
The reason that John sees this as a 'lake' is because the nature of it would be overwhelming, just as the flood in Noah's day came upon them and overwhelmed them beyond their ability to escape. Daniel also witnesses this fire as a 'flood'
      Daniel 9:26
After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.
      Daniel 11:10
His sons will prepare for war and assemble a great army, which will sweep on like an irresistible flood and carry the battle as far as his fortress.
      Daniel 11:40
“At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood.

    • @ophiuchus9071

@@AlvinFen next it is also important to understand the significance of Israel's judgment and lake of fire, because Israel had a role to play for God to represent the 'flesh' nature on the world stage.
The judgment was actually a judgment between the flesh and the Spirit, and whoever was not in the Spirit was in the flesh. And because these who are not in the Spirit but are in the flesh, then that judgment that was made on Israel's applied to them as well. Because they were in the flesh nature that was at enmity with God, they also were thrown in the mix as being the enemies of Christ as Israel was shown to be.
This understanding of what the verdict of that judgment against OC Judea in 70 AD reveals, comes when grace and works are revealed to men, by Christ.

7who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him
who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, 8though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.
      John 5:24-29
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. 25Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.

@@2Chronicles714_ Mixing again, the eternal salvation in Hebrews 5:5-9 should read eternal inheritance because it has to do with one’s works.. Eternal salvation which is eternal life is a gift.
Jesus…If you knew the gift of God…
You prove over and over you don’t know the gift of God~!
