Keith, I don't know why they didn't allow this to be attached to the tailstock end of the lathe as well. Would be more convenient. Also, have you noticed the holes at the top, outside of the legs? I wonder what those are for? Thanks for the video.
Keith, I have a Galaxi lathe on the way and am evaluating outboard tool rests, either this Nova or a diy version. Can you tell me the max distance from the lathe spindle shoulder (where the chuck seats) to the tool rest with the outrigger extended all the way and the spindle head rotated 90°? I am trying to determine the max height (depth) of a piece turned outboard.
Hi Keith and thanks for the video. I have the newer verion installed on my 1624 Nova Lathe. I tried to used my Super Nova Chuck with the outrigger in reverse. The chuck just spun off. Have you tried this with any better results?
Neill Flate yah I had that problem to. I know the chicks have set screws that you are supposed to use when reverse turning. That may work, but I haven't tried it
Keith, thanks for your quick reply. I did use the set screws. The problem is that the chuck spins off the insert which is what the set screws hold. I am appreciative in finding out that you had the same experience as disappointing as that experience is.
OscarOscar I upgraded from a delta 46-460. Unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to use the new lathe. what I have done on it has been fun. the increased compacity is really cool. plenty of power to move large chunks. the digital speed settings take some time to get used to. Get it, you won't be sorry
Nice instruction on setting up the outrigger support!

Keith how do I Aline to bring into alignment the pins at both end of the woo to be turned. I just inherited my brother nova 3000.
There is an alignment tool you can purchase to make it easy. It's about $35. Nova sells them.
Do you know how the Galaxi compares to the Saturn and new 18” Orion? Thank you.

Looks like about 14"
@@KeithVeronesi So maybe ~9" depth allowing for a chuck and ~1" bottom thickness?

Sounds like you need a 1 1/4" chuck with the set screws! or drill and tap some holes in the adapter to lock it too for reverse.
Awesome! I was wondering what how the instal is on the Galaxi. How do you like the lathe? I'm planning on getting one in the next month

No disrespect, but I see it breaking where the bolts are.
