KOLATTAM | OYILATTAM | DANCE COVER

This dance piece consist two South Indian folk dance. The first half is Kolattam and the second half is Oyilattam.
Kolattam is an ancient village art. It could also be called "the stick dance." This is mentioned in Kanchipuram as 'Cheivaikiyar Kolattam', which proves its antiquity. Usually this dance is performed by women only but now, man can dance along too. The dance is accompanied with two sticks held in each hand, beaten to make a rhythmic sound. On the other, Oyilattam, often known as the "dance of grace," is a traditional Tamil Nadu folk dance. It was traditionally a dance where a few men would stand in a row wearing two kerchiefs and move in time to the music. In the past ten years, however, women have begun to perform this dance as well.
