My son is on the second year of homeschooling. He has a fan on, a glowing lit diffuser too. His daily "get up" is to turn these things off, open the blinds, make his bed. He said he gets "bored" by this. So I said.. "turn off the light and fan then go brush teeth. Then make the bed." We break things up. My husband and I are planners. My son is 12 and we use ACE homeschooling. No sports. We sometimes do use a timer. He goes to Code Ninja. When he was younger we had a LOT of problems with hyperactivity and impulsivity. Thankfully he has outgrowing that. Basically inattentive now. My husband and I also have this level of ADHD. My son is a math and science kid. NOT an English and Literature or sports kid. Catering his homeschooling to his needs.... it's going to be Computer Science, IT or engineering. He has basically told me "mommy, you know I'm a bit of a germaphobe. I'll dress like daddy and stay clean". Ok buddy. We got you! Also.. husband is retiring in a few years. Getting him ready for high school. Thinking of moving to Tennessee! Might even focus around the area of Hendersonville area because ACE home base school is there!
Thank you for this video and explanation. I was feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Thanks for the encouragement!! It’s truly priceless! The friend I need. Thanks!
And having four kiddos isnt easy until thst routine is set which I have as well. Yiu are doing amazing. The other thing is give them their own alarm clock.
Great video! I definitely have a husband & daughter that has ADHD. This is a great reminder for me as to how to help them. Thank you 😊 I was wondering how do you do your Sabath with your ADHD children? To my understanding it’s a relaxed day with no sense of time, or a schedule. Any thoughts or tips on this would be appreciated 😊
Well we go to service all day and the community is together helping each other. All scripture says is no work. We have a routine, we have a schedule at services, and if my children disobey, I discipline them. I just don’t work: school, cook, clean, ect…
Hi, Leilani! Thank you for your help by posting these kinds of videos. ADHD in my home is new for us and it's especially hard because my kids are teenagers now! I worry it's too late to crack down on them but I know they need more structure than I've been giving them. One idea I hope to implement is a calendar wall where we can see all that we have planned for the week and month. Do you have any suggestions for that? TIA
Whole foods, protein, gluten free or starchy helped me as a child. They tried to drug me but my uncle stepped in and changed my diet. I'm still hyper I don't sit but I can focus and do so much at once. We hear everything. Honestly the only drug I use is coffee or tea. If I'm higher protein, greens such as bock choy, collard greens, spring mix ect organic when possible I do the best and don't need caffeine. We are listening but we hear everything at the same time. I thrived with taking notes and having my own planner ECT. I have to sleep in the dark. I use my impulse to clean or exercise. We need to be outside.
And journaling and reading over tv. I hated TV unless it was magic school bus, documentaries. I definitely love talking and walking in nature which calms me down.
My uncle had to teach me about eye contact at a young age and it works. But it's hard at first because we can feel through your expressions. It helps me focus but with this distracted society and media it's uncomfortable for others but teach them and let them choose the subject they enjoy the most first for homeschool. Schedules are good as long as they are flexible.
To this day even if there is a tiny bit of msg or fake colors it creates more anxiety and hyperactivity for me. You are so right. I do well with a food grade b complex, sunshine, chelated magnesium, fish sardines, salmon and yes cod liver oil. Nuts can be a trigger now since it's sprayed but I do well with macadamia, pistachio.
Thank you I have a 16 year old with ADD & autism and I have a 12 year old with ADHD. We homeschool them & I have been seeing some behaver problems after You tube & video games. We do limit these and they earn that time but I think its still to much.

I also give them chores even though I love doing them. It really helps them so much.

Thank you so much!
My husband has ADHD, and I am always aware our four kids might tend that way too. We do work hard to take good care of us all in these good ways!

Sure that would be great. You can also come up with a reward system to help motivate them to follow through.
Have you heard of Dr. Amen? He has some really good suggestions and research as far as ADD goes😀
The third adhd is combination, is that what you meant by impulsively?
Yes
