    i love your videos as you do not show yourself all the time like most do so that all you see is themselves instead of the sights, and also because you explain very nice and easily. Thanks

      Thanks, Monica, that is my plan, focus on the subject, not me. I show up briefly so you know who is talking, but I am disgusted by the typical selfie videos, me me me, look at me, so pathetic. My goal is to put you in the scene, not me.

    I love your videos I went to Europe in 2005 and 2013. The first time I visited the French Riviera, so beautiful. I speak Spanish, I studied English and your videos are so good to practice as listening exercise.

      Thanks for that encouragement on longer videos. I am doing more of that lately, combining shorter segments from various visits into a more comprehensive single look at a place, especially appropriate for smaller destinations, like Saint-Paul de Vence coming soon, and the rest of Provence.

    Nice to Cannes, should we take train, bus or our car - which is best?

    • @denniscallan
      @denniscallan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      train is best, 40 minutes, $15, but don't use the cheap ticket on TGV, you will be fined.

    Fantastic tour video of Cannes. Your videography of Cannes is magnificent.
    The only thing better than watching your tour videos is personally experiencing
    a tour of Cannes and the entire French Riviera region. It would be a shear delight to
    live in the French Riviera region.
    By any chance Denis, would you know the exact dates of the Cannes Film Festival
    this year.

    Thx for the video. Wich city do you prefer? Cannes o Antibes? And wich city is better for a short (3 nights) calm and romantic trip?

    Question: do you use a gimbal? Because the image is very stable

    • @denniscallan
      @denniscallan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      this was shot on a steadicam, before gimbals were invented. Now I sometimes use a gimbal.

    Hi, how much are trains from Cannes to Nice and vice versa?? Please let me know ASAP

    • @denniscallan
      @denniscallan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      one-way train is about $15 US, or take the bus for $2. Best deal if you are staying a few days is purchase the local travel pass at the train station.

    Well now. Cannes. I first visited it back in ‘94 on a wee cycle from Nice to Toulon, and as a gauche, culture-free zone I whizzed through along the Croisette without so much a sidelong glance at the place, and was spat out the town rolling on down to Fréjus. Should I have stopped? Well, one visit since that youthful escapade, and I would say, er, yes and no. In other words, probably worth seeing but not worth going to see. The main drag, the aforementioned Croisette, is nothing more than a second-rate Promenade des Anglais, 20 miles further east along the coast. The buildings are gaudier and as a result also less interesting. On the plus side, the beach fronting them *is* sand, (imported, apparently) and so no risk of haemorrhoids, a la Nice's pebbly plage. The town behind the garish, grinning mouth (a few gold teeth included) of La Croisette, is nothing but a poseur’s paradise, as well-heeled young wannabe starlets, well-upholstered, beer-gutted hairy blokes of a certain age (i.e. north of 60) and well-plastic surgeried matrons with faces stiffer than a fireman’s pole, and lips more stung-looking than a careless bee-keeper, prance up and down in the sad knowledge that time and (even the slack Mediterranean) tide wait for no one. So, that’s it really. Oh, but wait, I forgot; on the edge of town there is hope. On closer inspection, Le Suquet, Cannes’ salty old bit, is as charming a jumble of ancient houses as any on this whole coast. The views from atop the hill the village climbs are also tip-top.
