I really like watching older rugby league videos. As we in the States didn't have league broadcasted nationally until about 10 years ago, I'm still relatively new to rugby league and I like seeing where the game was and how it has evolved over the years. Cheers, mate. Appreciate the uploads!
We couldn't get into Elland rd, I was with my auntie who worked at the Boulevard along with my uncle but she didn't want to be crushed. It was just horrendous all round, I was sat on the coach in the car park watching it, was absolutely gutted.
Can’t believe that this is nearly 40 years ago. Travelled down on coach and caught the midnight coach back. Arrived back to to find a message on my dad’s car with the words ‘Widnes had one Burke, Hull FC had thirteen!’ For the replay we got caught up in a traffic jam near Castleford. We had just missed the side road off, so my Dad decided to reverse down the road onto the motorway. As such we made the journey to Elland road in plenty of time for the kick off. Great memories of supporting the Black and Whites.
I actually bought the official rugby programme booklet from a antique shop in Beverley East Yorkshire, and my dad took it to work were gecgsd some connection with former Hull FC player Lee Crookes, and he got Lee to sign my booklet programme for me. 🏈🏈🏈🏈
Got this on DVD but still great to see it. I was a near 13 yr old and at the game through school sitting on the old wooden benches along the touchline opposite side to where the posh seats were. Sammy's kicking was great but for the last one which still looked to be over. he was the most laid back casual looking goal kicker ever but most of the time was right on it (Wembley '80 aside)
Great memories, lucky enough to attend both games. Does anyone have a copy of the 1983 Yorks Cup final? Hull v Cas at Elland Road, i remember it poured down with rain, Hull won and Mick Crane won the m.o.m.
This feels like an historical artefact. From this distance it's easy to see why Great Britain were going to get thrashed by the '82 Kangaroos: things done at walking pace, tackles around the head, lack of structure in attack and defence, no idea what to do on the sixth tackle, lack of a kicking game etc.
they nearly always did especially in finals - they met in several finals and league deciders around this time. Widnes occasionally played in red tops but hull nearly always wore the same shirt
Hardly a problem when there's block colours that are different way around for shorts and socks and an irregular hooped jersey for one and a block colour for the other. Only the hard of looking can't tell them apart and Lindop did fine aside from casual errors not relating to jersey's. The propensity to not play home shirts for both sides in some games is beyond ridiculous though understandable in others.
I was there....what a game. The replay was even better!

Is this the Final with Hull FC Gorilla walking between the marching band, or was that the 1983 final against Featherstone?

Hi there, I'm searching for this footage for a documentary - where can I find it's source and copyright owner? Thanks

I wonder which administrator allowed them both to play in black and white?

The same guy who let Leeds and Warrington both play in blue and yellow.
Most people still had black and white teles in 1982, anyway. :D

Cracking game
#wtid
There is ufo at the end when hull lifting which they deserved brilliant and I'm red and white dave McAreavey there is a ufo in sky
Lindop, another FC hater
Bollox, he supported anybody who were playing Widnes. The grief he used to get at Naughton Park was phenomenal. And deserved.
Widnes much the better side, shouldn’t have been a replay!
