In my experience the only palms that don't respond well to heavy pruning are in the phoenix species. I've seen sylvesters and canaries severely over trimmed decline heavily after a couple seasons of serious over trimming. Roebellinis seem to do well with heavy trims though.
I saw a commercial trim at the Walmart area near Signal Butte and the 60 the other day and they got also fully skinned because I really hate how this commercial property to have dead fronds, seedpods, and having pests.
