I don't think people are upset with the codex as a whole. I think people are upset that the silver tide list was rendered ineffective, and that's what a lot of people have wanted to play Necrons as for a VERY long time. I think it's important to make that distinction
This comment needs more upvoted
You know I love warriors, they shouldn't have changed their datasheet rule, simply reduce the range of the reanimator, even the res orb nerf, and make the Ghost Ark cheaper but once per turn instead of once per phase. The Ghost Ark was the real sauce behind getting the unit back to full.
@ArtofWar40k I agree. It was too much at once. I get it wasn't anyways fun to play as or against, depending on circumstances, but there's a middle path to be found here, without destroying the playstyle nor being super oppressive. Hopefully GW will realize this and make a dataslate change at some point, along with some of the other oopsies.
The solution was to give Necrons the "2CP: Return a dead Warrior unit to the table"-Stratagem in one of the detachments.
I think the mechanic of Ultra resurrection was very very binary. Either you could deal with it or you couldn't.
I hate any rule that is binary, simple as that.
I think were just points away from balance👍
Warriors 9pts, ghostark 105 reanimator 65 and its back to being strong
They really just need to change the Warrior datasheet rule and this book would be very solid. Obviously the Destroyer cult detachment has its issues and they will take a lot more fixing (if they even bother) but otherwise I think the variety and depth in this book is on point. Hypercrypt looks like it has a lot of different build options with play and a lot more tricks/Monolith to be discovered with the monolith
Always amazing and in-depth content, truly wonderful channel thanks for doing everything U guys do for the community! OMJ so excited for Wednesday should be dynamic, what a great list mr. Siegs, brilliant king….
Looking forward to the Wednesday game and excited to pick up my codex this weekend. I will definitely be running a jank monolith list
Having played 30 immortals since the index, I must say I’m concerned about their lack of durability. The 4+ fnp Cryptothralls were the only thing keeping them alive. It’ll be a huge change of pace to now have to play them cagey and reactive, but with the Wraiths and Nightbringer now saturating the mid-board, I can absolutely see how it works.
The obvious nerf incoming is going to be making the dev strat Canoptek only, in which case I’ll probably be moving back to Awakened Dynasty. 60 gauss immortal shots still kills basically anything with the lethals and re-rolls, and along with the Technomancer, cryptos, and reanimation strat, they go back to their old durability.
Thanks Seigs and Quinton
I think it’s interesting that siegs has to qualify why he likes some things vs Jack.
I have infinite respect for Jack, his abilities are beyond reproach but I’m sorry he is at best a necron dabbler vs siegs who has a deep and complete understanding of necrons. No one cares that I feel this way, but as a long time competitive necron player, i absolutely agree with your assessments siegs. There is a lot to understand about necrons and how they play that aeons of experience dedicated to them will let you see
More to give context to why Im not going for settlers of ctan style, which is good no doubt. Just like if I was to play Tyranids I would explain why I value certain things more so than John. I think there is a lot of different options for the court based on terrain played on
If you don’t already have wraiths, have fun trying to find any. I would need to purchase 9 to run this list. I will have to think other options
Do you think is worth it to play Illuminor szeras with just one immortal unit? I´m not sure when to play it
I think I would totally run this list, except without the reanimator and add a royal warden to go with an immortal squad, or add 2 more lokhusts
What about Acanthrites instead of tomb blades?
This list is absolutely terrifying.
I would definitely consider running Imothek over the 2nd translocation Overlord. Because that way, you can 0CP the Dev wounds with the Lord unit and then pay your newly gained 2CP on the second unit.
No need to rely on tactical cards or your opponent taking a specific rule.
If we don't want to compromise on the chance or our Lord unit dying, we could just throw Imothek into 5 Lychguard and play them like a worse version of Space Marine Company Heroes. Or shove him into the fire&fade immortals.
You mentioned doing Fixed Mission for Canoptek Court, what units would change up for that? And what fixed missions?
Necrons can build around homers and cleanse quite easily
Considering getting back into the game, would Necrons be a good hit and run army?
Definitely, both chronomancer led immortals and tomb blades are great at that
Im hearing this will be S-tier :O? So much Dev wounds and Immortals are now good killing anything in the game?
What unit is getting lone op ?
If you do a hypercrypt plaese look at the doomscythe.
I like it! Can we get your take on a 1k list also?
You are only able to use the Overlord's 0CP Stratagem ability once per Battle Round right? So you could bring 2 Overlords, but only one would get the ability to use a free Battle Tactic or am I getting the rules mixed up?
It's for when the first unit dies, you can still make the strat free the next turn with the backup unit.
You are correct. You can take up to 3 of the same overlord datasheet. however, the 0cp ability can only be used once per turn. Period. No matter how many units can use it.
@@ArtofWar40k Fantastic built in redundancy. Keep up the great videos!
Which mean you can use it once in shooting phase and once in opponents movement phase with overwatch@@boxbreaks77
NGL I miss Quinton's fun facts
if i add cryptothralls to immortals can i use the lone op Strat on them
They arent canoptek anymore unfortunately
no doomstalkers?
There are many questionable game design decisions being made in these codexes. I'm not sure where they are coming from, but things could have been done better when it comes to allowing a broader base level of interaction and synergy, and then limiting that based on detachment styles and rules. Rather than simply limiting everything down to the point where there is no real design space for army building and then allowing points to dictate a units value. There are only like 4 or 5 different synergies in the entire codex. There is about 3 ways to build an immortals unit, and 1 way to build pretty much everything else. There is pretty much going to be 1 build for each detachment and those builds are going to be spammy with things like 30 immortals, 18 wraiths, etc. I'm not excited by this, it's actually quite boring.
Can anyone name 5 detachments better than Canoptek Court?
Can you?
Im having trouble with your concept on this list.
If you know (and of course you know) that strat will be nerfed or it wont apply to Immortals or it will only apply in melee, why focus on it?
This list uses the core concepts well but is not future proof because of the abused strat. If anything, if too many people go bonkers on it, the strat may be nerfed faster and harder. This will only fuel the negative commenters (lets take a stab at it; NECRONS ARE NOW UNPLAYABLE IN 10TH!!) which pushes people away from the hobby.
This is a "flash in the pan" list.
Is it only the strongest because of the dev wounds oversight?
If you took that strat out then built the list, would it still compete?
Guy, you play more than i do, you have access to the biggest and the best. If this is the best you can bring, a broken strat/1 off, it may be time to back up and get a new perspective.
If it never gets nerfed or at least for a long time than sure, my foot will taste grate as i jam it in my mouth but with the GW track record of overcompensating, im still wearing my boots.
Still a great list. One i will of course try to copy and use.
Cheers.
Thats why I explained I had been playing Immortals for awhile now because I think they've been good. This detachment with reroll hits and ignores cover access alone is great for them even without dev wounds. That just puts it in another tier.
Enough tesla shots with sus 2 on hitting on a 5+ with full re-roll hits will make a mess of a bunch of things, even without the dev wounds.
I haven't been in the hobby long but I've just loved my Tesla Immortals. As soon as they revealed ShroudLord I knew I was gonna be dropping my Warriors for some of these fast moving bricks. Canoptek Court is just icing on the cake.
I just need to get my ShroudLords in hand and battle ready then my friends are gonna know why I've taken the past few weeks off from playing
Nothing in 40k is future proof. Have to roll with changes
@@philgagnon275 just for the sake of continuing the conversation;
Yes, we do have to roll with the punches, points flux, ranges flux, even damage can flux all within an edition. But, this is not a trivial flux. This is an oversight that made it out of the depths that is R&D. GW will not just hit this with 1 nerf but 3.
1) no longer a battle Tactic
2) up the cost to 2
3) only applies to melee
GW loves going overboard with nerfs. We see it everywhere we look.
In completely unrelated news;
Just saw that a Necron List won a Grand Tournament, I wonder what list it was running. I don't actually know, I was too busy to look but considering it had a picture of a Wraith I'm willing to assume. Again, if I'm wrong, my foot will taste great with a lite Balsamic vinaigrette dressing as I stuff it in my mouth.
