The boar (male) died when both bears fell off the cliff and hit the ground. The sow (female) survived but was injured and pretty banged up from the fight and fall. She climbed back up and reunited with her cub 😊

At one point he was dragging her away, and lifted her off the ground. He was even biting her abdomen. I’ve watched males attack females at Katmai’s Brooks Falls and they were not as bad as this.

People are always trying to make the Mothers out to be so honorable but they literally get beat by those males, to death. Those mothers try to give their Cubs time to run but the males are so big they take the Mother's down in seconds. After two days of searching, the rangers located the mother bear and her baby in a burrow 15 meters deep. They put cameras in and around the cave to monitor the female. They can't get close enough to rescue either of them without being put in danger. If the female dies, they will go in and rescue the cub. Those same rangers said that the female bear had 2 cubs and think that this same male had managed to kill the first one some time before.

Animal world is mostly instincts, and the basic instincts are seeking food, water, fight or flight, and procreate. It's pretty simple. The exception of course is animals with higher intelligence like dolphins, whales, etc... bear is not one of them.

Yes the male died later on from his injuries. Rangers found the mother and the cub sheltering nearby.
