The comment in post also has the downside that some people won't comment because the comment appears on their profile and they dont want their connections or followers to see it. I have wanted to comment on your offer posts but haven’t for this reason.

Agree. That is a disadvantage for that type of lead magnet for sure. It's especially bad if your target market would never be seen to comment. The plus IMO though outweighs the negative of it.
