Cornette obviously had all the synonyms ready to go, but it's actually one of my favorite calls. When I was a kid it made me laugh so hard.

Listening to his podcast, he literally has a dictionary on hand and looks up the meaning of words he doesn’t know or synonyms for words sometimes. So I don’t think he had it ready for that specific spot, just quicker than a whippet with a bum full of dynamite. Just an observation, and wanted to use a Jay quote lol.

Hey Jay - this night actually might have been the birth of the people's elbow, I remember reading an interview about how the move was created because the Rock was trying to get the Undertaker to corpse in a match. Hence the no reaction.

I first stumbled onto OSW in 2014 during one of the worst periods of my life, and the lads really helped me through it. I think Summer Slam 1992 was their latest review at the time, so I had the entire Hulkamania era of OSW to binge. Laughter is the best medicine and the lads had me laughing till I cried countless times.
I would be thrilled if you did an Attitude Arc off this. Rumble 1998 - Armageddon 2000.
Its a lot of shows, but it is an absolutely wild era of wrestling. If not the entire thing, then maybe the rise of Austin/Austin McMahon, or just 2000. Arguably the greatest year of PPVs ever.
This...although I might tweak the idea a little bit and start at Mania 13...then we get the revamped Hart Foundation, the formation of DX, the Screwjob, Kanes debut etc plus 2 of my absolute favorite matches of all time (Bret vs. Austin and HBK vs Taker) You're definitely on to something! Although it might run the guys into the ground, the content would be money.

@@kevinobrien3577 the lads have said in the past they won't cover the screwjob, they think the whole topic is overplayed by now. hell, i think the attitude era (for valid reasons) is kind of the most covered period of wrestling anyway, so i don't think they'd review it without a good hook of some kind, like new gen starting off as the lex express arc.

As a kid the 6 month buildup for Undertaker vs Kane was perfect. We had more patience back then and it built suspense and anticipation. Same with the year long buildup of Sting vs Hogan

Cornette's dad was a newspaper editor. Cornette also gets irritated when he hears people butcher grammar. He's constantly grabbing a dictionary during his podcast to clearly define a word or words. He's also one of the greatest wrestling talkers of all time. While Cornette may have thought of this whole thing beforehand, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he could come up with something like that off the top of his head.

2nd reign as IC Champion: stripped for failing a drug test
Ist reign as Tag Team Champion (w/ Diesel): surrendered the belts... "What a pittance!"
2nd reign as Tag Team Champion (again w/ Diesel): stripped because they pinned Owen Hart in a match where The British Bulldog was named as Owen's proxy
3rd reign as IC Champion: surrendered the belt to Dean Douglas due to a concussion
2nd reign as WWF Champion: knee injury, loses his smile, vacates the title
3rd reign as Tag Team Champion (w/ Steve Austin): knee injury returns, replaced in tag team by Dude Love
Only reign as European Champion: lays down for HHH

I second this. Survivor Series 96 to Wrestlemania 13. Such a fascinating time. Rise of Stonecold, Undertaker finally wins the title, Shawn's lost smile, Sid Sid Sid Sid, fake Razor and Diesel, TL Hopper, Rocky Maiva and a lot of Bret Hart giving out.
So much fun, 90s WWF, and an OSW Christmas review.

Had Shamrock held on another year, he would have run into Angle, Eddie, Benoit, Malenko...He would have been a made man. He left in September of 99, with injury,, and Angle debuted in November...Then Benoit and Eddie in January 2000....so close.

The whole show was formatted to perfection back then. No long boring segments with skinny wrestlers we don't care about. Just a tight 2 hours with purpose.
