If you like reading, The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer, this book will get you real accurate accounts of what it was like to fight on the eastern front during WW2. No movies will come even close to this book. It totally changed my perception of what the eastern front was like. Probably one of the hardest book I've ever read

Two decades later he became a journalist for West German news and documented a massacre in South Korea. Ultimately, he met his end when worked for the Umbrella Corporation.

I'm up to the one minute mark...the whole place is on fire and there's zero ash raining down; this guy is just walking around breathing normally. Usually I always think of war films about WWII as shit. Because in many Hollywood and Russian films, German soldiers are portrayed as stupid. Usually an Allied soldier sits on one side and fights with a spoon against an entire German regiment and wins too. I don't know if this is a movie or a series, but this is really well done. The Italians preferred the Americans because according to what they told me, they carried chocolate and little glass bottles of Coca Cola for the locals in exchange for food and a place to set up some of their stuff so women would cook for them and the soldiers handed chocolate and soda to children. In contrast, when Russians showed up, they hid in shelters.

Ive read that sometimes germans and rusians were in the same building without knowing. One german soldier wrote he wantet to go on the toilet and a russian soldier was occuping it already. Cant know if its true but i can imagine it

The movie is absolutely unrealistic. I would like to highlight the scene of the charge. Brave Russians run, burning in the fire of a machine gun PROVIDED MG42 OR 34 WHICH HAS PERFORMED UP TO 1,200 BULLETS PER MINUTE. In addition, not only the machine gun itself, but also submachine guns. Only this caught one or two Russians who fell not even by a bullet but by fire. These Russians would not be able to run, more so they should run in circles and then fall down because of the pain, and really enormous pain because it is the pain of the fire. Well some of them runned to the water and they done the most clever and realistic movement. The Germans should start firing AFTER the Russians run out from behind the hill. It is about 50 - 100 m distance and the effective range, for example MP 40, is 300 m. I have no idea how they managed to reach the German defences. In general, it is a nice defense of these Germans, one MG on rack, with 10 - 20 people and that's it. I don't know, maybe 100 out of 50 people should be, considering the fact that they were defending the coast. There should be several LMG MG 42 or MG 34, and not only one in the rack version FOR CONTINUOUS FIRE (just to approximate the unrealistic approach of the Russians to the position of the Germans). And yes, its Stalingrad, there were ~ 400.000 German troops so yea ... The Russians shown in this charge are holding the PPSH I do not say that they could not because there was a lot of PPSH and the Russians created assault troops, but it is unrealistic that such valuable units were exposed to the first fire, usually even the Russians threw troops to death only to detect enemy positions but no this valuable units with these submachine guns. Well what a crap movie like most Russian WWII movies. They show the unstoppable and invincible Russians and those bad Germans crap of course in the fight and because of that its shitty movies.
At least now I understand why they make spetnaz trainees jump through rings of fire. So they can conduct a charge into a reinforced machine-gun position while on fire. Very believable.

As a firefighter for over 20 yrs., I can tell you, that you cannot fight and be effective while burning up, on fire. It's humanly, impossible. Burning to death is THE ABSOLUTE WORST WAY TO GO! For people who, have burned alive, death cannot come fast enough. That is the most ridiculous scene depicting WWII history, I've ever watched.
The Russian soldiers in the movie sure fight like elite commandos spetnaz special tactics squad. It's like one guy can kill ten German soldiers. I thought real history described countless numbers of poorly trained Russian soldiers being sent by their irresponsible and poor quality leaders, to their deaths, during the early days of the war in Stalingrad. The only chance that the German soldiers get overrun is when the German soldiers run out of bullets and the Russian soldiers just came horde after horde, eventually overrun the German soldiers.
The "german run out of bullets" was a thing in D-day were the allies just threw hordes of men, not in Stalingrad were the soviets were outnumbered until 1943.

Never was that simply of a ratio. Not ever soldier got 5 kills. In modern war plans artillery and tanks are the real killing power. As soon as the axis lost those things the war turned against them and they started experiencing large casualties.

@@gregorychew1089 They really didn’t. Much of the extremely high casualty count the Germans racked up was made up of POWs, not kills (although most died due to awful treatment anyway). And many of the lopsided numbers are also fairly easily explained by the fact that for much of the latter half of the war, the Russians were on the offensive. Attackers always take more casualties than defenders, and it didn’t help that Hitler often refused to allow retreat, forcing the defenders to hold positions even longer than they normally would.
The German soldier man for man was not much better than his counterparts on the battlefield, whether in the east or in the west. Their success owed almost entirely on coordination.

The movie is absolutely unrealistic. I would like to highlight the scene of the charge. Brave Russians run, burning in the fire of a machine gun PROVIDED MG42 OR 34 WHICH HAS PERFORMED UP TO 1,200 BULLETS PER MINUTE. In addition, not only the machine gun itself, but also submachine guns. Only this caught one or two Russians who fell not even by a bullet but by fire. These Russians would not be able to run, more so they should run in circles and then fall down because of the pain, and really enormous pain because it is the pain of the fire. Well some of them runned to the water and they done the most clever and realistic movement. The Germans should start firing AFTER the Russians run out from behind the hill. It is about 50 - 100 m distance and the effective range, for example MP 40, is 300 m. I have no idea how they managed to reach the German defences.
In general, it is a nice defense of these Germans, one MG on rack, with 10 - 20 people and that's it. I don't know, maybe 100 out of 50 people should be, considering the fact that they were defending the coast. There should be several LMG MG 42 or MG 34, and not only one in the rack version FOR CONTINUOUS FIRE (just to approximate the unrealistic approach of the Russians to the position of the Germans). And yes, its Stalingrad, there were ~ 400.000 German troops so yea ...
The Russians shown in this charge are holding the PPSH I do not say that they could not because there was a lot of PPSH and the Russians created assault troops, but it is unrealistic that such valuable units were exposed to the first fire, usually even the Russians threw troops to death only to detect enemy positions but no this valuable units with these submachine guns.
Well what a crap movie like most Russian WWII movies. They show the unstoppable and invincible Russians and those bad Germans crap of course in the fight and because of that its shitty movies.
If you want, you can read a lot about brave actions of USSR soldiers.

And I'm positive he saw more bodies than you. 6 million is a number equal to the total Jewish population in Europe. Do you dispute those numbers? Did you see every one of those bodies? As a firefighter for over 20 yrs., I can tell you, that you cannot fight and be effective while burning up, on fire. It's humanly, impossible. Burning to death is THE ABSOLUTE WORST WAY TO GO! For people who, have burned alive, death cannot come fast enough.

I thought real history described countless numbers of poorly trained Russian soldiers being sent by their irresponsible and poor quality leaders, to their deaths, during the early days of the war in Stalingrad.
The only chance that the German soldiers get overrun is when the German soldiers run out of bullets and the Russian soldiers just came horde after horde, eventually overrun the German soldiers.

This looks awesome so far. I always had some fascination with the nazi troops because they seem to kill at a 5:1 ratio. I hope this has some English subtitles or something.
Never was that simply of a ratio. Not ever soldier got 5 kills. In modern war plans artillery and tanks are the real killing power. As soon as the axis lost those things the war turned against them and they started experiencing large casualties.
@@steadyjumper3547 I agree with that, but the loss of air superiority is really what was the deciding factor. It just seems to me that the German soldiers killed so many more enemies per soldier on average.
@@gregorychew1089 They really didn’t. Much of the extremely high casualty count the Germans racked up was made up of POWs, not kills (although most died due to awful treatment anyway). And many of the lopsided numbers are also fairly easily explained by the fact that for much of the latter half of the war, the Russians were on the offensive. Attackers always take more casualties than defenders, and it didn’t help that Hitler often refused to allow retreat, forcing the defenders to hold positions even longer than they normally would.
The German soldier man for man was not much better than his counterparts on the battlefield, whether in the east or in the west. Their success owed almost entirely on coordination.
