Plus the moriori were here first but we killed most of them and ate them, the last massacre was in In 1835 when we went to the Chathams islands and killed 300 moriori and enslaved the rest. As for the white settlers most of us signed a treaty to allow them to live here, and have land. We were paid and given guns etc. Some did not sign it and that is why there's arguments about this subject. But the land was given back. In fact most of the land given back now has houses on it to rent out to people.

But these boys are just school students, it is not their culture but they tried their best and would have been very nervous performing a a spiritual and sacred Haka in front of others. You shoot someone for any reason you are charged. Understand New Zealand is a proudly multicultural country that respects the indigenous people and anyone else who chooses to call it home. New Zealanders see this massacre as a foreigner who came here and killed 50 New Zealanders due to his beliefs and hatred of people based on religion. Both the killer and his beliefs are foreign to us. The prime minister and the entire country has mourned along side the victims as should be the way as this was a attack on us all and what we hold dear. All the government has done is remove weapons designed to kill as many people as possible as fast as possible from circulation and everyone agrees they are not needed or required in this country, as mentioned they hold no place in hunting (the only legal justification for legally owning a gun at all). No one disagrees with this this as there is no real argument that can be made to keep one or own one. No one can reasonably claim a need to put 20 bullets into a possum. I own a handgun in New Zealand (very hard to be allowed to do) for sports shooting and I know no gun owners who own a semi or desire one. In New Zealand to be allowed a gun you need to apply for a license supply 2 references from people who are not related and don’t live with you. The police come and interview you at home and everyone living with you. Ensure you have a certified gun safe and seperate ammo safe before granting a license. If you are found guilty of any violent crime your guns and safes are taken from you, if charged with any domestic violence crimes your guns and safes are taken from you. This is how we have such low violent crime rates involving firearms here. In regards to the censorship of the shooters video and manifesto, these are banned under the same laws as child pornography. A video or writing made for entertainment purposes that depicts a violent crime. No one disagrees with that. The prime minister choose to never utter the shooters name and to only discuss the victims not the criminal. This is a view completely agreed by the people and you will never hear a New Zealander mention his name or even discuss his court case. As far as we are all concerned he no longer exists. We will not give him a platform for his beliefs again. We will not broadcast his trial or hear his earnings from the stand we will not see his face or hear his voice. He seeked notoriety by his actions and we now have the right to deny him this through our own actions. I am sure some foreign media may report on his trails but we will not, any images from court will be blurred by all media, this is not the law but the will of the people. Understand that for us a foreigner came here and killed over 50 of us for 2 reasons 1, because of how they are religious and 2, because of our relaxed gun laws. Plus the moriori were here first but we killed most of them and ate them, the last massacre was in In 1835 when we went to the Chathams islands and killed 300 moriori and enslaved the rest. As for the white settlers most of us signed a treaty to allow them to live here, and have land. We were paid and given guns etc. Some did not sign it and that is why there's arguments about this subject. But the land was given back. In fact most of the land given back now has houses on it to rent out to people.

But these boys are just school students, it is not their culture but they tried their best and would have been very nervous performing a a spiritual and sacred Haka in front of others. They would have been given permission by the Tangata Whenua to do this. I am sure everyone stood behind them, supported them, gave them encouragement and aroha. Kia Kaha, rangatahi ma! (y)

I am astounded at the response of the government of New Zealand to this incident. To revoke the citizens gun rights because a foreigner attacked some New Zealanders is astounding.
I am also astounded that there are no youtube videos from New Zealand citizens talking about this attack and the governments response.
Do the citizens of New Zealand not care or are they being prevented from saying anything by the government or by the main stream media? I don’t know bucause no one in New Zealand is putting up any videos espressing their viewpoint.

goldassayer93555 firstly their is no gun ownership rights in New Zealand, it is a privilege given by the government. There is no right to self defence using guns. They are for hunting only. You shoot someone for any reason you are charged. There is no need for semi automatic guns to hunt possums and pigs so the government the opposition party and even gun lobby’s agree they should be removed. No one here disagrees with this.

goldassayer93555 yes by law New Zealanders can defend themselves but not by use of firearms. This is pretty much the universal law in the western countries outside of America. Understand New Zealand is a proudly multicultural country that respects the indigenous people and anyone else who chooses to call it home. New Zealanders see this massacre as a foreigner who came here and killed 50 New Zealanders due to his beliefs and hatred of people based on religion. Both the killer and his beliefs are foreign to us. The prime minister and the entire country has mourned along side the victims as should be the way as this was a attack on us all and what we hold dear.
All the government has done is remove weapons designed to kill as many people as possible as fast as possible from circulation and everyone agrees they are not needed or required in this country, as mentioned they hold no place in hunting (the only legal justification for legally owning a gun at all). No one disagrees with this this as there is no real argument that can be made to keep one or own one. No one can reasonably claim a need to put 20 bullets into a possum. I own a handgun in New Zealand (very hard to be allowed to do) for sports shooting and I know no gun owners who own a semi or desire one. In New Zealand to be allowed a gun you need to apply for a license supply 2 references from people who are not related and don’t live with you. The police come and interview you at home and everyone living with you. Ensure you have a certified gun safe and seperate ammo safe before granting a license. If you are found guilty of any violent crime your guns and safes are taken from you, if charged with any domestic violence crimes your guns and safes are taken from you. This is how we have such low violent crime rates involving firearms here.
In regards to the censorship of the shooters video and manifesto, these are banned under the same laws as child pornography. A video or writing made for entertainment purposes that depicts a violent crime. No one disagrees with that. The prime minister choose to never utter the shooters name and to only discuss the victims not the criminal. This is a view completely agreed by the people and you will never hear a New Zealander mention his name or even discuss his court case. As far as we are all concerned he no longer exists. We will not give him a platform for his beliefs again. We will not broadcast his trial or hear his earnings from the stand we will not see his face or hear his voice. He seeked notoriety by his actions and we now have the right to deny him this through our own actions. I am sure some foreign media may report on his trails but we will not, any images from court will be blurred by all media, this is not the law but the will of the people.
Understand that for us a foreigner came here and killed over 50 of us for 2 reasons 1, because of how they are religious and 2, because of our relaxed gun laws. They weren’t muslims in New Zealand they where New Zealanders who happened to be Muslim. I am sure there will be some racist New Zealanders who have less sympathy that others that see them as Muslim first but I doubt you will hear them speak out publicly as they would find themselves to be a solo voice quickly without friends.
Removing guns that are not justified in owning from the country is the responsible action and should have happened years ago.
Censoring the shooters image and propaganda from the internet here is the only power the people have in minimising the harm he has caused. Showing love peace and sorrow to the Muslim community in New Zealand is the only correct action New Zealanders can take to show this is not who we are, this did not come from us. You are us.
This is why your idea of changing the name of Christchurch to a Muslim name is offensive to New Zealanders we have done nothing but show humanity to fellow citizens who are feeling vulnerable and in sorrow as a society should. Your comment seemed to take offence with how New Zealanders and our government have behaved in the aftermath of this event. The idea of blaming the muslims for wanting to come here and live in peace is reprehensible when we invite all other walks of life to do the same. The idea that we would not show compassion to fellow citizens when they have suffered so much is foreign to us. Yet you think we have handed them our second largest city for them to rename by being kind and decent to them. This is alien to us.
