Director of the movie Aattam says almost all actors in the movie are theatre artists. They hadn't worked in front of the camera before. He showed them Asghar Farhadi films saying that is their benchmark.

Brilliant writing, perfect casting, astute direction and perfect BGM !! Hats off to the director to keep this film just enough length and avoiding the stereotype emotional scenes..
At the end, movie becomes a character study and I guess audience don't care much about "who done it"..
Asghar Farhadi's, whom the director has mentioned in interviews, "about Elly" is of same premise.. similar structure with ensuing conversations after an event revealing the layers of characters.

Sad that movies like aatam dont get much commercial attention. Movies done in feb, premalu, brahmayugam, manajumall all good. But true cinema , raw cinema , mind bending art is this movie. Wishing this movie geta widely watched after ott.

ഇന്റർവ്യൂ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ തോന്നിയ ഒരു കാര്യം...
ഒരിടയ്ക്ക് പറയുന്നുണ്ട്, സ്വാഭാവികമായി സംഭവിച്ച political correctness related സീൻ പിന്നീട് effort എടുത്ത് മാറ്റി ഷൂട്ട്‌ ചെയ്തു എന്ന്.
പിന്നീട് പറയുന്നു 12 angry men -മായി കണക്ഷൻ തോന്നാതിരിക്കാൻ effort എടുത്തില്ല അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താൽ സ്വഭാവികതയെ ബാധിക്കും എന്ന്....
എവിടെയോ എന്തോ ഒരു...
പൊളിറ്റിക്കൽ കറക്റ്റാനെസ്സ് നോട്‌ എന്തിനാണ് ഇത്ര വിമുഖത എന്ന് എനിക്കൊരു പിടീം കിട്ടുന്നില്ല. ഇത്രയും ക്വാളിറ്റി ഉള്ള സിനിമ സൃഷ്ടിച്ചെടുത്ത വ്യക്തിയിൽ നിന്നും ഇത് പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നില്ല...

Superb Film വിശ്വ പ്രസിദ്ധമായ ജാപ്പനീസ് ചിത്രം അകിരോ കുറോസാവ് സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത റാഷമോൺ എന്ന ചിത്രത്തിൻ്റെ സ്വാധീനം ഉള്ളതായി തോന്നി. യവനിക മൂവിയും അത് തന്നെയായിരുന്നല്ലൊ
