Day 48 | Lone Pine and Introduction | Pacific Crest Trail Thru Hike

- We made it to lone pine after several days in the Sierra. We resupplied and rested all day. Here is where I introduce myself and tell why I am hiking this trail.

I remember a moment on trail in Glacier NP, looking out over such beauty and realizing how blessed I was by God. He made it for each one of us! Happy trails!
Glacier is truly just so awe and God inspiring to me as well! Amazing!
Glacier is my favorite National Park!
Oh Boujee, I think your future students are in for a fabulous year of education. Just being able to share the pictures & videos of your PCT adventures. That puma shell necklace takes me back about 45 years give or take, I think I still have it. Thank you for the memories it has unfrozen from my stroke damaged memory. Thank you for sharing your relationship with God & Jesus Christ. Seeing daily the majestic landscapes that our father created. If you want to feel like Adam in the garden, just open your eyes and slowly turn. You are one of a very few that will be able to experience that gift, and truly know in your heart it was Gods hand that created it. Thank you for letting me to tag along. Be safe and hike on.

Good for you for pursuing your career. In life we make hard choices but when it comes down to it, a fulfilling career is so important and you are blessed with knowing God’s call for you. Enjoy your hiking and leaving to work is not a failure. You already did the hardest part of this trail

This was a great video! I’m so happy you found teaching! I taught 2nd grade for 17 years and 4th grade for 14 years and I wouldn’t trade that for anything! I’m wishing you well in that endeavor.

So cool to hear your story! I really like your shirt…great idea to go with the patch. The coffee setup sounds so much better than instant and what a great way for your parents to be part of your hike. I recently retired from teaching deaf and hard of hearing students for 30 years. I’m a retired teacher whose health has limited her life. However I love learning about new places and meeting new people. Unfortunately I don’t get far these days so following you, your tramily and others is a great way of getting out. I have to hold back a bit passing on news of your adventures and bits of PCT information as nobody here knows what I’m talking about! Keep sharing those videos you make this lady happy.
Just want to say you and your group has been my daily watches, I’m super going to miss you after the CA boarder but so excited you’re out there DOING IT! I laughed a little when you mentioned you planned your trip in 3hrs, livin the life!!!
I found a fb post with resupply points and went from there! Knowing the general trail environments I hoped for the best! There is something special about not knowing everything and just going in blind! Words can’t even describe how thankful for this opportunity to hike!

Very pleased to get to know you better. You remind me of a friend of the past 55 years, a priest in VA. You look like he did when he was your age, your speech, manner of expression, wonderful positive attitude, & refreshing spirituality, all mirror him. As an educator for a 40-year career, I want to praise & encourage you as you begin your own career path. There is nothing like it, or the rewards you will experience. Once you realize the enormous privilege you have in being such a positive, constructive part of the lives of others (it is suspected that you are already finding this), you will never be the same. @@LifeIsBoujee Glacier is awesome. I worked there a few summers and went up a bunch of others. Grew up hiking in the Sierras. Sierras are a little more relaxing without the grizzlies, although I've seen a lot of them in Glacier just minding their own business. The California Golden Bear was a very big version of the grizzly. It's on the state flag but the last one was shot in the 1920s.
Fellow Missouri/Kansan - would like to see those hikes from Missouri! I am also glad to see a midwestern out on the trail! Be safe and keep posting!

Nice to meet you after following you through Roadrunner. I'm looking your videos, you have a unique view, but I am sad you won't be hiking through Oregon and Washington this summer, that's where you'll see lots of green. Thanks for being a teacher, it's important that our future has good Leaders and teachers; my daughter teaches 4th grade here in Oregon.

Great “introduction” video. Thanks for the time to sit down and share. I’m glad you took Roadrunner’s advice and started filming and posting. It’s a lot of work but, also very rewarding and inspiring to others. I definitely think you should reach out to your school if you haven’t already done so and ask if you could start a month or so later so you can finish off the trail now. I think the district might just back you on this one. Your substitute teacher could have the students follow along with you and your channel as you wrap up your hike. What great gift to give to you students when you do make your triumphant finish. You will be able to share such a gift with them and they would be an immediate connection with the as they have been engaged with you already. It’s most definitely worth asking if you haven’t done so.

Did you hike solo before meeting your current trail fam and was solo hiking the plan?
Yep I hiked solo for 500 miles until I met RR right before tehachapi - then we met birdy and boss bae a day or 2 after!

What made you choose teaching as a career? What neat parents you have to help supply you with coffee and freeze dried meals!
I had a really awesome high school Spanish teacher who just inspired me! A lot of my family (now I realize) are teachers too! But the ability to teach the next generation good morals and critical thinking skills I think is a goal of mine. When a student can think for themselves then my job is accomplished! And to inspire kids to reach for the stars
@@LifeIsBoujee That's really great. I homeschooled my 5 children and it was the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. I did some substitute teaching, too. It was... interesting. I wish you the best in your career. We need more teachers like you.

Not tied to me when I have to use it. It sounds like a great idea but in reality is can become tangled up and you loose grip or you fall and loose grip of the axe and here it comes straight for your head! A hiker after us going up Mather had to be rescued I think for that reason

You need to go to Independence for family run , homemade ice cream! I am glad you are a significant part of RR's tramily. I just love the Lone Pine area and have Mt. Langley on my bucket list. I am sorry that Mt. Whitney didn't happen for you on this trip. I have done Whitney 3x over a many year span, as well as the JMT as a kid with my parents. Good to hear some of your details...finally. I want to see some cold water plunges!
