We have a light switch in our bedroom, but we are going to have the door hung the other way, so the door will close over the original switch, so I want to change that switch to a blanking plate and have a switch on the new open side of the door, can this be done with this Quintic switch? I have also seen a video of these switches failing with the spring retainer breaking loose, do you know if this fault has been fixed. Thanks, Bob in the UK, LOVE THE CHANNEL SO JOINED.
I was thinking of the same question. What if the other room has the same set of switches would that interfere with the other set of switch? Will the two sets of switches pair differently? If this topic can be brought up and it happens to pair defferently, im buying this switch right away. I hope you shed a light on this and post it in your next video. Thank you now for the previus informative video and thank you in advance for your next video.
I would say no, because the neighbours set up would already be paired and set up (ie, closed to other devices). However if in the extremrly unlikely circumstances that you and your neighbour happened to be setting up switches at the exact same moment in time then yes it's possible.
Hi Gaz, If during a rewire of the house, can you legally replace all the light switches with this new way giving you the flexibility to put the switch/switches wherever suites or do regulations say the original fixed wiring always has to stay in place.
I must admit they are a nice bit of kit , until they pack up . The you have to pend more money to replace them, as I don’t like modern technology I don’t see me installing them in my any time soon. But they are nice. Fantastic video Gaz as always 👍👍👍❤️
I'm from Malaysia. Thank you for this tutorial video. An ergonomic and safest method in dealing with electrical switches. Where can I purchase these devices?
Very Interesting - I wonder if the light is off - you have a power failure - does the light come on when power is restored? Or does it remember it's last state?
@@charlesrichards5389 why is that? Surely if there was a momentary power cut and the light was on, once power was restored I think it would be infinitely much safer to return to being on. For example if you were traversing stairs?!
@@marcusshipley3935 You're talking about visual safety when the mains go down momentarily. I'm talking about electrical safety within the house. If you had a short due to a water leak, rodent chewed a wire, etc., you could have a fire hazard if the power automatically flowed when it's restored. If you don't want to be caught on the stairs during a power outage (regardless of duration), get battery-powered automatic emergency lights for such locations.
@@charlesrichards5389 I see your point but surely its exactly the same as if the lightswitch was on when the interruption in supply and/or fault occurred?! If there's a short or a water leak compromising the electrical installation or part of it, then, a competent person ie, an Electrician is required to make safe regardless of whether a light switch is on or off?!
If you put them in different rooms the one for the master bedroom won’t turn on the kids room will it. What I mean are there different frequencies I imagine their would be.
Ah but what happens when there is a power cut and the light was off. Does it remain off when the power comes back on. I only ask because our touch lamps come on when the power comes back on even if they were previously off. This means when we are away on holiday we have to unplug these incase of a power cycle and they come on and stay on for a week when we're not there.
Just come across your video's, very enlightening for a ''non electrical knowledgeable person''. But I do have a question, are these available in 12v do you know? Had a search online but couldn't find anything.
Why not just have the Module inside a Bulb Socket Assembly, further reducing the cost of wiring ? Can a slave switch also act as a master for pairing? The need of the master switch for un-paring only would be logical.
Does anyone know how the receiver is deriving its power, without a Neutral - my only conclusion is there must be a small current drawn through the load when it is off?
How does that work? If you pair it with two separate light circuits, will it just flip state of both lights? What if one light is on and the other is off?
@@andycarter9845 I was thinking more in using it for 2 or more outdoor lights but on 2 or more feeds where you dont want to run wiring outside the building linking them. That way you and cut down on the circuit of wires but have one switch to opperate them.

Massive thanks for the great comment and watching my stuff 👍🏻. Gaz
I'm not an electrician, but those switches look very clever and quite simple to use 👌🏻
😁👍
Outstanding tutorial! Thanks
Thanks for watching
Awesome. Thanks for answering the question.
More to follow 👍🏻
In electronics terms, the pairing is stored in “Non Volatile” memory, which means it stays in memory even when power is dissconected
😮👍🏻
Amazing video mate
Thanks 👍🏻
@@GSHElectrical I was wondering Gaza can you connect one receiver to another receiver just like a normal quinetic switch
A visit to my local electrical dealer tomorrow!
will these work ok with fluorescent lights, if so whats the maximum load thanks
What I really need to know is, what is the yearly power consumption of one of these receivers.

You can turn the neighbours light off when there in the shower 😂

It remember it's last state. The data is stored in non volatile memory in the receiver.

Can that kinetic switch system be used in America, with grounded switches. Also I didn`see any ground wire on the switch?

Can you pair a switch to more than one receiver?
I remember many yares back I had IR switch that worked with my audio systems remote also. I wonder can walkie-talkie work same way with these one?
How do you connect it when the feed is in the switch? Or do you need a Quinetic switch as opposed to the receiver in the ceiling?
Does it come in a 2 way version, ie one that could replace an exiting two way switch and then add others as intermediate switches
How can I add an intermediate quinetic switch to an existing 2way switched circuit for the landing?
Can you have one ganged switch turn on two bulbs independently

Can you add just 1kinetic grid switch with a receiver and 1 wired switch to make a 2 way circuit on a loop in loop out system
Magic
When the power was switched back on the light was on. Can this be changed so they are off when the power comes back on?

How far the switches can be placed before it loseses signal? Cheers
