I'd be leery of that elbow-shaped tensioning bracket. I started out working on Chevrolet engines of this era and they were notorious for breaking the brackets that reached directly from the water pump to the alternator. The remedy was to add a second identical bracket.
Thanks for the comment! I figure if it made it from 1962 to now we’ll be ok. But I hear ya on some of the ear brackets. Of course I think some of that may have been old school tighten the belt til it sounds like a guitar string mentality. 😂
If I noticed correctly, I think your cooling fin is rotating wrong and not cooling the alternator.
