    Anyone who asks me what type of birth control they should be on I automatically tell them that whatever you choose, just DO NOT go with then Nexplanon! Idk if they changed anything with it, but the first time I had it everything was completely fine. When I had to get it replaced, it was a whole different story! I got it replaced Jan 2019 and I suffered horrible mood swings and sudden weight gain. I could go from being happy-go-lucky to screaming and ready to pick a fight or extremely depressed. I was also constantly bleeding and my cycle was way out of wack. Within a couple days of having it taken out, I was finally becoming my normal self. I am so happy that you made a video about this!!

      Thank you Taylor! It was one of the worst things I could have done to my body. My situation was very similar to yours and I would never recommend the nexplanon now that I’ve experienced it!

      I just mines off today! And I am so happy I did because my side effects were weight gain, and then acne, spotting a lot like every two weeks! Low sex drive! And most of all depression with dark thoughts, intrusive thoughts, feeling insane and crazy, high anxiety and some suic*dal thoughts… worst ever! And I don’t want be on anti depressants I want use that as my last source but know this implant affected me a lot

    I experienced MASSIVE hair loss, arm cramping from the same arm as the placement. My 3 years are up next month in April. I can’t wait for the removal. Oh yeah also 50 lb weight gain also in 3 years. It’s been a lot.

    Mine literally bent in half in my arm. When I told the dr I wanted it removed he argued with me. I told him it was bent and he felt it and was certain it wasn’t. You could see it bent in my arm. When he finally agreed to remove it he refused to let me see it saying “wasn’t even slightly bent” he was a doctor in sulpher springs I live in Dallas and he had upset me prior to that cause when I had found out I was pregnant he chastised me about not being married and that I have disability’s.. he’s the one that put it in. Omg! I’m so glad I found this video to ease my mind. I got Nexplanon in April/May 2022 and at first I was fine because I didn’t really get any periods…but that was probably due to nursing; because towards the of 2022 I stopped nursing and in January 2023, my period came with a vengeance (heavy bleeding and very painful). I was under a lot of stress so I didn’t think anything of it and in the coming months, I just dealt with it and tried to manage by going to the gym. I also want to mention that I had gained over 20 lbs in a year! Now I do have hypothyroidism, so I was thinking maybe this is a factor. Fast forward to now, I still have the Nexplanon, but I started my period 2 weeks ago, it wasn’t really painful and the flow was medium I’d say…..usually my periods last around 5 days and then tapers off. This has not done that around day 6 it was spotting. And I thought hmmm I’ve been under a lot of stress, ok we will wait another day or so. Well a few days later has gone by and now the flow has actually gotten heavier as if my body doesn’t want to stop the period. And I’m over here low key panicking, but after watching this video, I’m realizing that the Nexplanon is what’s causing all of these problems; and it’s making sooo much sense now. Definitely will be reaching out to my doctor because I really don’t know how this is even ok for women to deal with this. Thank you so much for this video ❤

      It's so good to know that I'm not alone in that but also extremely concerning. They must receive money from nexplanon to sell their product, or there must be an incentive. I want a doctor who genuinely cares about me, not ONLY their wallet. 😔

      @emmyjulianne6850 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same! Just got mine removed 3 hours ago lol and she asked me 4 times if I wanted it replaced or another form. I was like “no!! My partner and I talked about this and we are going to use condoms and/or spermicide.” Of course she had to ramble on about the ineffectiveness of my decision. Lady!! I said NO! 😂 my partner and I are in our mid 20s so it’s not even like if a pregnancy happened it would be the end of the world, and bc of my age it felt even weirder, like I was being treated almost like a teenager. I know how this has been making me feel, I know it’s destroying my relationship, so be gone nexplanon! I gave it three years, she kept telling me “this will go away!” Never did.

    I wish I had found your video at the time I was doing research... I also felt like my doctor kinda pushed me the Nexplanon, I got it implanted yesterday. They say "it's just a small incision", but the procedure is so agressive - I literally vomit by the time I got out the elevator to the ground floor. When I actually finally read the whole booklet, I saw so many issues... I do have diabetes, high cholesterol, I wear contact lenses, I have mild depression and take St John's Wort for it - I asked so many times if it could affect my treatments for all these, and she said "No.".

    ive had mine since July of 2023. I was spotting for 2 months non stop. I really regret getting nexplanon. if you're considering nexplanon let this comment push you away from choosing it. I used to be 145, now I weigh 166.6 in January of 2024. gaining 21 pounds in 6 months isn't a lot but its the differences its made. im incredibly depressed not only because of the hormones but because o the insane change its done to my physical appearance. if you have any issues with body image please don't get this form of birth control. I noticed the weight gain two months ago I was 160. I started by changing my diet PLUS eating less. two and a half weeks ago I started running on the treadmill the famous TikTok 12-3-30 workout. ive been doing it consistently everyday, some days twice a day with included ab work outs. I gained 6 pounds. not only that but my down there area has an odd odor now. I made my appointment to remove my nexplanon Jan 16, 2024. I hope to seee positive changes in my body

    I wish I had known the side effects about the nexplanon prior to getting it. I’ve had it almost 3 years and I’m getting it out tomorrow morning. Gained 80lbs in 6 months (and granted I’ve never been the the healthiest person, but almost 100lbs in less than 6 months?) my period hardly ever comes anymore, but when it does, it lasts for close to a month. Major cramping every week or so. I have hated every single minute of this birth control

The pain is not intense but it definitely bothers me can’t put too much pressure or carry too much weight on it as well or it will start aching. This is my second time getting it after 2 miscarriages I thought this would be the best option since I didn’t suffer from the arm pain the first time around . I wonder what kind of kick back the doctor’s get for certain birth controls. I’m on week 3 of bleeding and I’m exhausted. Plus a new side effect I’m having is that my bleeding smells extremely bad and of strong iron. It’s awful. I can’t find anyone else that has this problem. The cramps and bloating are too much and are not able to taper down with a heating pad and ibuprofen or Midol. I got on this by my doctor because I have fibroids and endometriosis and my bleeding during my periods were out of control but at least it ended after 5 days! This is effed up so I’m calling my doctor today. I’ve been on this for almost 2 months. I have two young kids and this is not okay. I’m too tired to do anything. I was already anemic. Ugh maybe a hysterectomy is next. But I’m 45 so can I hang with this until menopause which is the light at the end of the tunnel??? I don’t know 😭😩🤬🥴😤

      @satbirgill2181 there was a lot of anxiety, brain fog and those gut issues as I mentioned before. But I couldn't get any weight off that I had gained from the nexplanon. And after 3 months I still hadn't received my period and still had a lot of the same symptoms happening but my libido was higher.
      Another month and a half go by and I begin feeling even more different.. like flutters in my lower gut, low appetite, heightened emotions and more exhaustion than before... Come to find out I was 6weeks pregnant!
      So I have some concerns that my body didn't have time to fully regulate after having the nexplanon removed (of course drs say everything should be fine, but nothing was 'fine' before or after I received nexplanon) and I didn't loose weight like I had hoped which puts me at some risks. But I was certainly surprised that I was pregnant 3 months after the removal 😅
      Hope all is well with you though! Curious to know what your experience was like before and after nexplanon.

      I had my Nexplanon inserted on May 20th 2022. Today is September 20th 2023. I didn't have periods since May 20th 2022. It is normal. Nexplanon produces hormone which prevents your body from producing eggs, periods is process of getting rid of eggs. It is normal with this type of BC. No issues what so ever. Works great as well.

This is why a lot of women notice changes (weight gain, mood changes, hair loss etc.) when starting birth control. Then when you stop birth control (or are post-partum) your body goes through hormonal changes again which may also cause a variety of symptoms. Too bad we are not informed of this prior to making our birth control decisions!

    @princessbeee_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Nexplanon was the worst decision I made. Gave me horrible period every 3 weeks and it would last 2 weeks-4 weeks. I gained 30 pounds within the first year. Arm would get a mosquito like lump every once in awhile and it would itch like crazy. (Usually would happen when I moved my arm in a strange way, but could occur completely randomly) ALSO I had phantom pains where I would get this lump on the opposite arm in exact same spot.. Nexplanon caused cystic hormonal acne , the worst acne I’ve ever had and ultimately had to get on acutane. I also had bad mood swings and a load of other issues. Removing it was a terrible process bc although they injected local anesthetic, you can still feel movement but not pain. So I could feel the pulling and tugging of my skin which only heightened my anxiety. My dr struggled for about 7 minutes trying to get it out, almost requiring assistance from a nurse. It’s been almost a year since my removal and I still have tenderness and pain in the site of implantation and the scar that was left is very raised and pigmented. Overall, I recommend trying every other option before this birth control. My dr did not fully explain all the side effects and risks. Do your own research and take all this into consideration. I have been on the combo pill for the past 11 months and it is the best birth control I’ve ever tried.

But I'm also very sad finding out that so many of us are having the same issues and doctors still seem to be pushing the nexplanon so much... There needs to be better, healthier options out there and if there aren't.... Doctors just need to be straight up about it. I asked all of the right questions before getting mine and my doc just kept brushing all of my questions off like they weren't valid... then continued to treat me like I was crazy when I wanted it removed. 😒... Also, she's not my OB anymore.

    Another huge disclaimer is that doctors cannot explain how Nexplanon works, they just know it’s really good at preventing pregnancy. They can’t tell you how much hormones are being released or if it releases the same amount consistently. Made me very turned off

      I had concerns and every time I brought them up my doctor shot them down before she even heard them. She made me feel like it was my ONLY option.

      I just started passing blood clots. I’m going to give my doctor a call and see what they say. Hopefully they give me a medication or take it out. I’m a nervous wreck.

      @@tyraison1838 I got mine removed a little after this comment. I was bleeding too much and I was scared. I’ll try another soon.

      @@randomcontent8227 ever since I’ve been on it I cry over NOTHING. I literally cry so much. I’m always hungry, my weight has gone up 15lbs and it’s only been 1 month... I would say my sex drive went up tho so that’s a plus. But I read that it could possibly stop u from being fertile when u get off it. Some women say it’s happened to them and some say it’s not true
