One of our 120G CAT graders would at times articulate on its own. The DCV was fine but the check valve was determined to be defective by using the process of swapping out with a known good valve of the same part number. The problem followed that particular articulation check valve to its new component. These videos are great.

Thank you Chad, and thanks for sharing your experience. The process of careful checks, observations and logical analysis soon leads a dedicated hydraulics student to the fault. Sounds like you too know the path. Keep on!

Will the problem be solved, if I use directional valve with closed center?

Hi sir.in PC 130 their is no electrical conectin.in that excavter stand by pressure is increased gradually that my doubt

I am still not quite sure that I am following you regarding your doubt. The valve in this video is not used in a PC130 excavator. If you are asking about the stand by pressure on your machine, I would need more information in order to understand the issue and your question.

Hello Carl, would the cylinders move at different speeds in reality since one flow is to cap side and other to rod? Really appreciate your videos. I recently subscribed and have a lot of catching up to do. Thanks you!

That's a very astute observation James. Quite correct, that in the world of the very simple hydraulic system (e.g. a log splitter), a single rod cylinder retracts faster than it extends. Since the rod itself becomes fill volume during retraction, as it moves from the open atmosphere to the inside of the cylinder tube, a lower volume of fluid is needed in comparison to the extend function.
Of course in a circuit such as this one where the valve has a proportional capability, the operator can move the control stick to achieve just the speed desired for either direction. But still, if the valve was held in the maximum position for extend and then later for retract, we would find likely find that the retract speed is faster,....assuming a symmetrical valve spool. Great question, thanks.
