@jonnyarnett First I want to say You are easily the greatest you tube basketball historian or the second greatest tied with Wilt Chamberlain Archives and Mr. Clayton Crowley. But I want to bring out two players that most people would not put above Michael. It seems like as you go up the latter of the clutchest players list ever it should encompass a player's whole career. I noticed you put up some Magical moments for Magic, but you also highlighted when he made a vital mistake in the Finals against Boston being called Tragic Johnson for a summer. I noticed that you highlighted MJ's brilliance for those 6 championships, but you didn't bring out the last game against the Magic when he came back and shockingly lost the ball at a crucial time, and truly didn't have a JORDAN game when the Bulls needed him the most. Their are two players in history that have amazingly shined more times than MJ WHEN EVERYTHING WAS ON THE LINE AND SUCEEDED. I I present two gentlemen( one you recognized fully, and one you had his name. #2 Mr. SAM Jones..... In a legendary recorded moment you can find in the you tube world, Mr. Russell reveals something shocking about HIM. He says their were 7 TIMES if a shot is not made the Celtics go home. Mr. Russell let it be known Mr. Sam Jones NEVER MISSED.....It is possibly the only perfect clutch shot making when needed the most more than 5 times of any player in NBA history. #1 Mr. William Felton Russell. Playing in 10 7 games during the late 50s and 60s actually says a lot about the competition the fabled Celtics faced. They obviously were not unbeatable. Since teams with legendary players themselves pushed them to the brink. Not having steals, block shots, or even the differentiation of offensive rebounds recorded during Mr. Russell's time leaves no Statistical numbers that cause our Jaws to drop.....BUT WHAT is very eye opening is 10-0 in Game 7's. That is hard to beat. I am curious what his stats( that we can see) are in those 10 games. One of them will most likely be otherworldly ( rebounds). Mj's career was a 15 year career. Mr. Russell's career was 13 years. In those 13 years it is hard to find even one closeout game that he didn't do great in even if they lost. ( I can't count the Hawks series. He played severely hurt only 20 minutes.) Only the 76ers closeout game in his first year coaching and even in that game he had 21 rebounds, 7 assists and who knows how many blocks and steals. Thank u for considering these views.

Fox in 2023 was so clutch that no one was near him in clutch in regards of total pts, fg% and volume. He was so clutch that his 3pt% in clutch in that season was so high he would have been the best 3pt shooter that season of you only took clutch moments when at one point he was shooting like 50+ % in the clutch for 3s.

I think this list was pretty solid, but I really think Curry should be on it (he definitely should receive his flowers in the clutch time), he is the guy with most points in 4th quarter playoffs, has record of most points in 4th quarter in a finals game, Curry has a TS% of 63.4 in 4th quarter on playoffs (that I think is the best efficiency by a player in this situation in history), averages 32.6/7/6.4 on 47%/42%/92% shooting in 5 game sevens, Steph made 81 consecutive 4th quarter and OT free throws from the 2015 to 2019 playoffs, had his clutch performances at 2014 playoffs, 2015 playoffs (mostly in finals), 2016 WCF (had 3 injuries), 2017 playoffs, 2018 playoffs and finals, 2019 playoffs and finals, 2022 playoffs and finals, 2023 1st round, 2024 CPOY, 2024 Olympics.
    Some raw examples:
2016 WCF Game 6 where his three tied the game with 2:35 left in the 4th when the Warriors were facing elimination on the road
2018 NBA Finals game 1 where his three point play gave the Warriors the lead with 23 seconds left in the 4th
2016 WCSF Game 5 where he hit a three with 23 seconds left to put the Warriors up by 5
2017 WCF Game 1 where his three pointer with 1:45 left tied the game
2015 NBA finals game 1 where his two point jumper gave the Warriors a two point lead with 50 seconds left
2013 WCSF Game 1 where he stole the ball and scored with a little over a minute left in OT to tie the game
The one against NO in 2015. His layup against the cavs in 2015 G1. His OT performance against the blazers in one of the 2016 games. A crazy amount in the end of the OKC series. He was very clutch against the spurs in G1, 2017. Clutch in G7 against the rockets in 2018. He scored 20+ pts in the 4th qtr in that G6 vs HOU in 2019. He had clutch shots vs the blazers in 2019. He made a huge three to tie the game against TOR, G5. 2022 was just a series of clutch performances. Steph is clutch, but he usually doesn’t need a buzzer beater because warriors games aren’t usually close by one possession in the last minute of the game.

-Missed the shot right before Ray Allen saved his ass
-Had to rely on Kyrie to save his ass in the Cavs Finals winning series
-Recently, he stood around at the end of the Serbia and France Olympic games just watching everyone else pass and move around on offense until Curry inevitably took the clutch shots. Hell, Kerr _benched him_ at the end of the France game but LeBron "ice in his veins" James subbed himself back in (only to do the aforementioned standing around)

LeBron Not making the top 10 is outrageous imo, he’s made countless buzzer beaters, game tying shots, defensive plays in the regular season. Even if you disregard the RS, his 2007 run to the playoffs where he beat arguably the best defensive team of all time by himself, even scoring the last 29 out of the teams 30 points in a double OT win. He lost the finals against a fairly experienced spurs team but the cavs shouldn’t even have made it past the first round if it weren’t for LeBron. LeBron had the 2011 meltdown but Magics 1986 finals meltdown was also mentioned. In the 2015 finals he was the leader in all major categories for both teams while missing Kyrie and Love, Igudala won the finals mvp for holding him to a near 35 point tripple double. He had the greatest 3 game stretch being down 3-1 to the best regular season team of all time, his 2018 playoff run speaks for itself and until 2022 he has never been beaten before the second round. I respect your opinion but this is all about facts.

Lebron had arguably the greatest finals dropoff in nba history (2011) and also had a pitiful playoff performance against the celtics in 2010. You can make an argument for the 2006 Pistons being one of the best defensive teams of all time, but the Pistons in 2007 were nowhere near the best defensive team of all time, as Ben Wallace was a huge reason for why they were a good defensive team, and he was gone by 2007. While we're on the subject of 2007, Lebron also had a pretty bad finals performance that year. Lebron was also part of 2 of the most lopsided NBA finals losses in NBA history.

Kobe choked then quit on his team in 2006, like LeBron in 2010, Kobe also shot the lakers out of their fourth ring in 2004, we can compare that to 2011, both were superteams even if you don’t like the fact. 2008 finals Kobe performs below his standards 7/22 loses the finals. We could also bring up how Kobe possibly got two more rings because of the nba fixing it 2000 & 2002. But then that would bring up a whole different conversation.

LeBron is 7-12 (58%) in his career on game tying/winning field goal attempts in the final :01 of playoff games.
For some context, Kobe, Steph, Durant, Kawhi, Harden, Westbrook, Dirk, Wade, Duncan, Jokic, T-Mac & Nash, other legends/MVPs of his eras are a COMBINED
      6-50 ( 12% )
So tell me why Kobe is in the list but not Bron???

Surprised Isiah Thomas didn’t make your list. Man, his clutch performances in the late 80s/early 90s playoffs and finals were commensurate with Magic, Larry, and even
close to Jordan’s. I can’t recall him not showing up big for a game the pistons needed to win from ‘88-‘90 (he essentially willed the Pistons to a game 5 ECF win at the Garden, maybe the most important win in franchise history pre-championships), and played spectacularly in all 3 of the Pistons’ finals attempts, particularly 1990, when he carried them to the championship with his scoring, perhaps the peak of him as a “score first” point guard. And for all the talk of “aura” these days, Zeke had it in spades. He just had that “thing.” And it was astounding to witness. Isiah also took a beating during these performances, and what’s maybe forgotten most about him is just how tough he was. He didn’t back down from anyone, and he’s got the scars to prove it. I often wonder why so many dislike Isiah so intently. I think much of it comes town to him making people uncomfortable. He’s good looking, dead f****** smart, but also grew up on the south side of Chicago, and never fully escaped the mentality inculcated within him there as a child. Therefore, few understood Isiah. I’m not even sure he fully came to terms with the person he became. And when people don’t understand something, it makes them uncomfortable. It’s called cognitive dissonance. And Zeke dealt with his fair share of it from fans. They can often be unnecessarily cruel in their criticism of him too. Kinda sad given all he overcame-their lack of empathy. But I personally think this makes him even more interesting . He’s a deeply complex, flawed, and fascinating human being. People like Zeke don’t exist in the NBA anymore. They’re not allowed to. And it’s a deeply profound loss to all who love great basketball. Nice list overall, but a few of those players listed were about as interesting as watching plants grow. I suppose plants growing slowly can be considered tantamount to being clutch….

@Aha_Bacon Based on my criteria, I think Bron has too many crucial playoff instances where he didn’t show up. The 2007 NBA Finals, the 2010 ECF and the 2011 Finals are all really brutal. The funny thing is that IF you only include LeBron’s career AFTER 2011, he’s very high on this list. Unfortunately he just often wasn't that guy in the first half of his career, which I can't ignore, but did eventually evolve into that big game performer.

A broken clock is right twice a day. The GOAT TH-camr is wrong twice a year.
Lebron has the 4th most buzzer beaters (2nd if that 0.01 against the Warriors had gone down to 0). He has the most playoff buzzer beaters.
He has the highest scoring average in game 7s. He has the 6th highest playoff PPG ever. LeBron is 7-12 (58%) on game tying/winning field goal attempts in the final :01 of playoff games. Kobe, Steph, Durant, Kawhi, Harden, Westbrook, Dirk, Wade, Duncan, Jokic, T-Mac & Nash, other legends/MVPs of his eras are a combined 6-50 (12%).
He orchestrated the most clutch comeback in NBA history against a 73 win unanimous MVP leading both sides in every statistical category capped off by the most clutch defensive play in history. He had a game winning shot against Kawhi Leonard in game 7 of the 2013 finals. He had the greatest carry job of all time leading the 2018 Cavs to the Finals. He had the 2nd greatest carry job of all time leading the 2007 Cavs to the Finals with 25 straight points. He had the most clutch game ever leading the Heat over the Celtics in game 6 of the 2012 ECF.
If we are gonna knock Magic and Bryant subpar Finals performances, then Lebron gets some grace for 2011 and some of those Celtics series in the late 2000s.

Jonny’s list here isn’t bad And I’m not LeBron fan (In fact, you might call me a curry fan above anything else) But the fact that LeBron is not on here is a joke. I’m not saying you should be number one, That spot should be and currently is occupied by MJ But LeBron most certainly should be in the top 10 and I would argue so should curry. However, I think not having LeBron in the top 10 year shows Johnny’s biased. In general, I think Johnny is an objective observer and gives objective opinions, but when it comes to LeBron, I would argue that’s gone by the wayside. He spent too much time recently with LeBron haters, and it’s starting to wear off on him. There are plenty of stats to back up LeBron as an all-time clutch performer number one but easily top five and Jonny just left him off at top 10 list which makes me lose a little respect for him. Curry is my guy and I will admit that he should be somewhere in the 5 to 10 range of clutch performers But LeBron should be higher than curry and should be top five To have him not on the list of top 10 is criminal and biased.
