Had been avoiding The Seven Husbands as I am an older person and thought this was just normal Hollywood hype, got it as part of a deal at Waterstones, couldn't put it down. It is so interesting and different and portrays a more realistic view whilst also being a fantastic read.
Can’t hurt me is one of my favorite books. I’ve read it three times already but I do understand that it’s not everyone and I completely agree that the toxic masculinity was pretty bad but the underlying lessons were truly life changing for me .
i love that book it has inspired me to achieve goals through cookie jar method and i repeat this in my mind when i feel exhausted " if goggins can so can i "
🍵 I loved how you incorporated quotes to illustrate your points, that was really helpful and something other people on here rarely do when rating books, as far as I've seen!
☕️ I’ve been relistening to some childhood audiobooks that my sister & I used to listen to on long car journeys as children (mainly Jacqueline Wilson) and they feel like such a big hug! It takes me back to a dimension where nothing mattered/matters & helps me refresh joyful childhood memories ✨so that’s my reading joy at the moment!🌞
I love Taylor Jenkins Reid’s books! I’ve read The seven husbands of Eveline Hugo, and Daisy Jones and the six and a couple more. But her writing is so captivating and I devour her books too haha
It’s been 1.5 years since I read The School of Life, and I still think about some lines & the content from the book every other day. Thanks for giving me the sign to reread it again!!
Thank you so much Jade!❤️ You give me a beautiful perspective of trying any book, not being scared of wasting time if it isn't the right one for you. In contrast reflecting on it and learning what you like and what's helpful and what isn't.
First of all, Jade your videos are the highlight of my week :) ☕️ Second of all, when you mentioned “The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse” I literally was so happy that someone else knows this book and loves it too! Despite it being a children’s book by genre, it’s one that I believe every person should read no matter your age! It’s one of my all time favorites and I’m so glad you read it :) Your videos inspire me and keep me motivated and I’m so excited to see where life takes you 🤍
Girl, I rarely comment on yt videos, but I have to say: You are so lovely and inspiring and bring sunshine and just made my day. I love watching your videos and even wish sometimes to me more like you. You motivate me to study, to inform myself about important topics, to go out and enjoy myself, but most importantly be a kind person. Thank you for doing that
☕️☕️This came at such a perfect time, literally googled yesterday after a book video from you! Loved your reccomendations, definetly gonna pick up a few of them❤️
Omg thank you for discussing about the disappointment of the four agreements! It’s so hyped online, but the book is so dry, you could literally read the 4 sentences and be done with the book without reading it fully
☕️🫖 I realise this video is a couple of years old now but I loved the books reviews, please keep making these type of video with the books you’ve read more recently!
🫖🍵Honestly, I LOVE the very calm, honest, motivating and inspiring energy you always bring to your videos, which I absolutely adore. Thank you for doing what you're doing and for the many books I have now added to my already massive TBR list :)
🫖☕AHHHHHH!!! Please do more of these bookish videos!!🥺 Absolutely enjoyed every second and added most of these to my TBR list!! Thank you for the incredible recs☀️☀️☀️
ok last thing if you need a book recommendation: Braiding Sweetgrass. Cannot emphasize how much this book has changed the way I have viewed the world of science, and how much deeper and more empathetically I think about the natural world around me. The way it uses story and indigenous wisdom and scientific knowledge is just so masterful. please read and then we can rave on about it together
Hey Jade 🌞 I have an additional book recommandation for you : Intact, by Clare Chambers. It explores various notions of what we call "natural" bodies as well as the social structures these concepts are emboddied in. I found it very interesting as it contributes to your understanding of the debate that currently takes place around body-related care, practices and modifications. I also really appreciated that it covers both feminine and masculine bodies. It is also very strong in terms of arguments and structure, so I warmly recommend it! ❤️
Ooh I loved the four agreements but I appreciate your opinions. I've learnt to not take things personally using that book, your opinions about the book, any compliments I get, any criticism I get are all just other people's projections and have nothing to do with my life in the grand scheme of things. Obviously it doesn't make sense to do away with any constructive criticism or appreciation from loved ones, but detaching yourself from it has helped me so much! Excited to read some of books you've suggested 🍵☀️
If you loved the 7 husbands, you definitely have to read Daisy Jones & The Six !!!! I personally believe that book is even better than 7 husbands haha. And Malibu Rising of course. They all happen in the same universe and when you notice a crossover you'll be like EEEEE. Taylor's releasing Carrie Soto Is Back in August which will be the last book in that universe and I'm soo ready for it !!
Finally someone with a similar opinion on the four agreements. It's one of my very few one star goodreads ratings. It could've been an essay or blog post & done without all the weird talk about black and white magic (or whatever it was). Truly don't understand what people find so mindblowing about it.
really thankss Jade! i had a lot of pressure about reading like x books and because of this i even stopped reading. you just made me feel so relax about it.
I perfectly agree with you about the book "can't hurt me". As a psychologist I can say that BALANCE is the way to follow. A balanced behavior is the best behavior. We can work very hard and achieve great thing with moderated actions. And success isn't related necessarily with what the author is promoting in the book, I mean pushing ourself beyond the limits it's not practically possible because our energy is limited and we should take seriously the relation between efforts and recovery. 😘
seven husbands of hugo turned out to be the best book i have ever read, like the day i finished it i gave my copy to my friend. it explains so many vast topics, and the plots were brilliant.☕☕
I love how you started out with can’t hurt me! I thought I was all alone in thinking this was one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I agree with everything you said about it. I’m now curious for the rest of this video… just had to drop this comment. Also I really love your videos! Thank you for creating such a beautiful space on TH-cam! Edit! ☕️☕️☕️ I have now made it to the end of the video and am so grateful for your insights and inspiration. I have read a lot of the books you read, but now I also have new ones to add to my “ to read list”. I’d love for you to make regular book content (even if it’s just twice a year)
Loved this vid and your style of reviewing books!! Especially that you weren’t giving star ratings and then justifying that choice- ur descriptions were v detailed which is helpful as reading is obviously a subjective experience xx
On the topic of Universal Basic Income you mentioned in relation to the book "Utopia for Realists", I suggest you watch the TH-cam video titled "the case against Universal Basic Income" (from Sorelle Amore Finance) as it introduces the more problematic (if not sinister) side of this initiative. Loved seeing your reading list and will definitely be adding a book or two to my TBR list!
So glad you mentioned The Ministry for The Future! It's one of my favourite books of all time and such a highly recommended read. Also makes me think that you might like the podcast, Idealistically (I'm definitely not biased and definitely not the host...) where guests discuss what they would idealistically want in an ideal world, with themes of climate justice! :)
☕️ god, that was so nice. I did some reflecting on my trip to Oslo i did a few days ago and it was just perfect. Me sitting in nature, unjaded jade’s video playing and me being creative. Such a mood. ☕️☕️☕️ I have to recommend my favourite book of the year to all you lovely people - Crying in H Mart, by Michelle Zauner. A memoir about her life growing up Korean American, holding onto her Korean heritage after the tragedy of her mother passing, all the while pursuing a music career and turning into the indie rock powerhouse that she is now (Japanese Breakfast).
