Oh my gosh thankyou for everything- every sentence is informative- love the reasons WHY you brought those books- new sub of course- Being creative is FUN FUN FUN
I have never thought of using board books. What a good idea. I am visiting a friend later in the year and would love to make her this kind of book, so that she can fill it with pictures of us and memorabilia of our holiday together. I love the colour combination you used, especially on the unfinished book. I am now going to see if I can find your DVD on that. Well done and thanks for sharing. x Greetings from England
I've made altered board books before, but it never occurred to me to mix the pages of different books! Love how you have put them together! TFS:)....Ann.
Hi I dye the elastic in tea. I mix up a bowl of hot water and throw in a few tea bags (I use the cheapest tea bags from the supermarket) and give it a swirl and then I put the elastic in and leave it until it gets to the colour I like. I do the same with lace, ribbon, seam binding as I really like the vintage colour this gives. Look forward to seeing your board book soon! xx Michelle
HI I use my Big Bite from W R Memory Keepers and that is why I bought it. Nothing else would punch through the heavy board - now it is so easy! Thanks for visiting xx Michelle
Love all your books Michelle, I really like this idea with the old children's books. Going to have to make one for myself! Thanks for the inspiration x
Thank you Michelle for this great video and for sharing your tips and ideas. I have altered a few board books in the past some as gifts, but have always kept them in there original bindings. I would never have thought about cutting them and then touse the to mix for new books. I hope that I can find the video you mentioned at the end of this one so I can see the delightful little book that you were working on the night you made this video. The pages look gorgeous so I'm sure the little book will be too.
i love it, i take off the glossy paper part instead of sanding so ur left with a blank canvas, its really easy just peel the top layer of paper from the book then gesso it, such a easy way to make great lil books, off to check out more of ur vids, hugz xx
your just the best ever .I love watching you .your so fun and explain everything so well. I have learned so much from you already .still new @ all this ,but have made several j.jouranls .already .waiting for a friend to help me get on ETSY and do videos etc... wish me luck .thank you again .will keep watching for more of" Michelle" :)
I sometimes do that for altered books, as they get fat. The altered board books I prefer flat without dimensional embellishments if they stay in their original binding. Thanks for watching xx Michelle
Love this project. To dye the elastic, do you just soak it in the color dye for at least an hour? Never colored/dyed anything before. Thanks for sharing....will be buying a couple board books at my local thrift shops to make my board book! Great way go recycle! : )
You prolly dont care but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times then you can watch all of the new movies on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
Saturday morning coffee in bed and visiting with my dear friend - what could be better? Love the video and since I need to make a junk journal for a swap, I will be following your easy directions. Two and half hours to go before the post office is open and then I will be making a video. Hope you'll watch mine!!!!! Hugs and lots of love - EllenBee
Most scrapbook stores will carry some sort of double sided tape. There are a number of brands and prices. Google will bring you a lot of options on shopping and it is available on amazon Have fun xx Michelle
what a FANTASTIC idea ! hope you dont mind if I pinch it ? I love to reuse things as im a scrimper these kiddie books are realy good board too I have a bunch of them in storage from my kiddies . Thanks for sharing this its really got me inspired
Great video, thank you! How did you get the holes in your pages? I use an awl or bodkin for thinner things, but obviously those won't go through thick board.
just found your channel, great info and love the books where can I find score tape. I see it all over youtube but no one has told me where to buy it and I can't find it local thanks
OOps you caught me. I haven't done a video on the finished vintage book. I admit it is in my Unfinished box (and that is a biiiig box!!) I use the broken ones from the charity shops - fantastic for the budget! Have fun xx Michelle
those are fantastic, how do u get the colours to match? like the playing cards are a coffee colour to match the rest of the book, is it all just paper with different graphic print?
Wonderful! I've been wanting to try one of these...wondering, do you need to cover all area with adhesive (like when mod podge) or do you just go around the edges and a few strips with your scor tape/atg? Thanks. Am going to sub & ck. out more of your videos. tfs!
I am the same, as far as measuring. No matter HOW careful I am, and how many times I measure....it is NEVER right. Never. Why do you suppose that is? It is not as if the paper gets up and moves. Oh well, I manage by sticking the paper down, then turning it to the back and cutting off the excess or trying to cover the gap somehow. Anyway, I love your book and I just subscribed!
I love this idea, but for the purpose I'm using the book for, the pages need to stay together. I am not crafty in any way so I don't know what gesso is or how to even start. Is it ok if I use tissue paper and wrapping paper to cover my book?
You can use whatever you like to cover the book. Gesso is a white ground, it adheres to the base and will allow different techniques on top of it. Once you start it is easy just grab some paper and glue and go for it! and Have Fun!! xx Michelle
love your pallet... atg tape.. is there a specific brand you find adheres better than others? I used mod podge on my very first one years ago, and it just didn't work.
+Stacy m Surprising that the mod podge did not work. The surface may have been to slick (glossy) for it too adhere. I use the Scotch brand atg tape that goes with the gun i have xx Michelle
I love that you've used different sizes and shapes of board books together. Thank you for showing your beautiful work.🇦🇺
