I much prefer the sound of the spruce, clearly more special and harmonious between the treble strings. This old spruce Friederich guitars are certainly underrated when compared to the ceder ones, but to me they have a heavenly sound that the thick ceder ones just can't match. Just my opinion. Nice job in present both instruments

I am a lover of cedar, but the spruce one is really captured my attention. Very good comparison.

I like the Cedar. It’s amazing how bright the cedar is up the strings. That’s not usually the case.

Fascinating comparison. I struggle to choose which sounds better.

Hard to decide .. the cedar makes me dreaming , the spruce makes me listening, a cedar guitar on that level is a very mystical thing .. it’s heartbreaking.. the spruce seems to produce more compact sound waves , so the overtones stick to the notes .. whereas the overtones on the cedar travel away and takes the listener with them ..

You said same body shape but I read in an interview that he changed his shape in 1971. Are you sure the 68 is not a little different, maybe a narrower lower bout?

Can someone tell me where actually starts the high on the guitar. And the middle frequency? How does it count exactly?

    The cedar vibrato is annoying.
I much prefer the spruce top.

to my ears its not about preferences but its more about the cedar being a better and more capable instrument than the spruce and should probably be priced as more expensive. The sustain, power and thickens of the trebles (mainly the first string)are way better on the cedar. The resonances are much more bigger and sensitive on the cedar giving it a rich tone with different tone colors and deep personality.
