      Anyone individual can be racist because of preset prejudices, but racism is more than individuals thought. It’s an institution developed from a construct meant to create a social hierarchy based on race, which obviously started when the Europeans first enslaved the African based on race. Therefore, the minority as a whole can never oppress the majority as a whole because of the majorities control over the institution.

      @Superior McCowin black people can be racist and have been racist in the past and even now. If you a white boy and you go to the hood to play ball you will get hate cuz of your color. You are the minority and blacks are the majority hating on you cuz you’re white. That’s Racism. Even in the past in Africa any white people would be hunted and killed because of their skin color. Even if white people invaded first, that doesn’t mean that you attack innocent white civilians because of their skin color.

    • @ignyte5856
      @ignyte5856 3 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      @Superior McCowin you can still be racist without the ability to oppress, racism is prejudice beliefs applied to a specific race. The ability to oppress comes from the oppressed feelings about the opinions the oppressors have. If i call you a racist word and you dont take offense or feel oppressed, its still racist.

    • @ignyte5856
      @ignyte5856 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @Superior McCowin you're not explaining why its a myth, and the fact of the matter is racism goes by individual beliefs, no matter how oppressed a group is. If an individual believes a race is inferior that considered racist no matter what race believes it

    It's weird when people say "Black people can't be racist, it's prejudice" but to be racist you have to be prejudice, to me it just seems like an excuse. If you have hate towards anybody based off somethin that they can't change about their appearance/ethnicity you can be racist. Add whatever you want before or after it, at the end of the day it falls under racism.

    • @vincentnguyen7271

It doesn’t really faze me when people insult me about my white side.

      Anti racists can be just as much of a problem as racists., because of the emotional anger that comes with being against racism, similar to the hate a racist might have. Obviously it’s the result of racism, but Anti-racists at the extreme start hating the other group rather than trying to educate and change the racist/prejudiced views. @slickityslickness It goes far beyond that. It is obvious to see the racism within the policing system, that's blatantly obvious. Racism is almost always shown through actions, only recently has it really started to been shown verbally (at least not heavily since the United States Jim Crow South if you know any history). At the end of the day, the power does lie in how you are perceived, and unfortunately and once again obviously, many fellow humans perceive people of color differently. • @jayydexter
      @jayydexter 4 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      Heres how i see it. Stereotyping is literally prejudice just by definition and racism is an umbrella term that prejudice and discrimination fit under. Prejudice is the mental part of racism when we think or say pre assumed things about someone based on race. Discrimination is more of the social racism because its just reducing and restricting someones rights based on skin color. The last part is antagonism which by definition is active hate towards someone so this is the physical racism which includes hate crimes. At the end of the day prejudice leads to discrimination which leads to antagonism which are all fueled by racism just it gets more intense as you go up the line. I also believe that prejudice is something we all have and shouldnt be hate ourselves for bc it isnt until we act on our prejudices via discrimination and antagonism when it becomes harmful to society and others

    • @nickandjoshlover1568
      @nickandjoshlover1568 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I dont get why people constantly think racism HAS to be linked to some kind of power status. Racism is just the combination of stereotypes/preconceived notions and the discrimination of people because of those prejudices, no matter of the size of the confrontation (i.e. systematic racism, one-on-one racism). Therefore, saying some people CANT be racist is stupid to me. Sometimes it is the IMPACT of that racism that differentiates because of a difference in power, but even racism without wider consequence is still racism.

If me and my White friends excluded my black friend for being black, that’s considered racist. If my black friends excluded me from a group because I’m white, that’s considered prejudice. There’s no difference other than the roles being switched. Therefore, prejudice would be a form a racism. from my quick thought, I thought prejudice was putting a label onto a race or group and racist is discriminating that race. For example, saying "Dang, a lot of black people do drugs" is prejudice because you're saying a majority of black people and not picking out the whole black community but if you said "Dang, black people stink!" is racist because you're discriminating and picking out a whole race for a personal distinction.
