Several videos have pointed this out, that theoretically its a very simple story, probably too simple for modern Hollywood to make, without adding a bunch of modern stuff that doesn't really fit the genre. The original series was very similar to old cowboys and Indians shows, you can't take the material too seriously, because its popcorn fare, and it only works with a villain like vampires, that can be safely classified as always chaotic evil. Some of the leaked plot described this movie as something of a Blade 4 vibe, with the new Blade passing on the torch to someone else, maybe his daughter. It is telling that Ali would be 50 if the reboot were released today, which seems strange for a rebooted Blade to be so old, since its very much an action role, and even Ali would have aged out of the role fairly quickly, so a passing of the torch in the first reboot movie is not as absurd as it sounds, because of the casting of an older actor as Blade.
What makes anybody think they’d treat Wesley Blade any differently than Mahershala Blade? We’ve seen how Disney treats legacy male icons like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Indiana Jones. We’ve seen how degraded many male characters have been in Disney live action remakes. We’ve seen various legacy Marvel characters have been downplayed for prop up new characters I don’t trust Disney with any Blade movie

Honestly, everything Sony is doing with Spider Man adjacent characters should have been so classified from the first Venom movie, as the stuff they do is of a much lower quality, and is confusing to the audience, who is getting avengers movies next to Madam Web, with no indication that one of these is definitely Elseworlds, and not really relevant to the main MCU.

They actually wanted to do this, in the late 00's, according to Kate Beckinsale the problem was the fact that 2 different studios owned the rights to Underworld & Blade ( this was before Marvel got the rights for Blade back) and they couldn't get it sorted out legally. She was down for it and apparently Snipes also wanted to do it, but the studios just couldn't get their legal issues resolved. It's a same situation with the cancelled Robocop vs Terminator movie, in the 90's.

I don't know why but I was never all that interested in this new 'Blade' so I'm not all that disappointed it may not happen. They wanted Mahershala Ali so badly I feel like they gave him a little too much control and that's usually not a good sign. Just look at 'Black Adam'. Apparently he wanted his 'Blade' to be the next 'Black Panther' so the similarities to 'Black Adam' continue. Only both Blade and Black Adam aren't really central characters in their respective film universes. Blade especially really belongs in the supernatural corner of the Marvel universe. He's closer to Werewolf By Night than Black Panther. It's time to cut their losses and recast. Get an up and coming actor who can work in a $75-$100 million movie. Or, make a fourth Blade with Wesley Snipes and get the 'Midnight Sons' into production where you can introduce the new Blade alongside returning characters like Moon Knight which will give them a few years to break the story for a solo Blade film. I think part of the problem is that the supernatural side of the MCU doesn't really exist in the world at large. Even if you consider something like Wandavision, that was a localised event that was covered up from the public. So I can understand how trying to explain that vampires have existed for hundreds of years might be a tad complicated. They've barely figured out how mutants may have existed for far less time. I'm fine with getting the new Predator movie in place of a new Blade.
I’m worried about Ali’s career at this point. He might be phased out of Hollywood just by association with this failure. Plus, he hasn’t worked much since this movie was announced. That, combined with the stories of problems on the set of Blade, could cause him to be overlooked for future roles.
So... Let's not give any new actors a chance at roles. That's a great plan. I guess Hugh Jackman isn't the only one in his role until he's 90. I can't wait for the senior Avengers where they somehow battle constipation and diarrhea at the same time.
Don't for get terminator 3, but 4th one awesome, then 5th killed it forever. Lets not forget Batman the Dark Knight rises was also awful. Just literally awful.
