Started watching review videos two years ago. At the time every reviewer was an island to himself. Now most of the reviewers make frequent reference to others. You have become a true community of friends, not competitors. Great to see this!
I usually just sit and wait for companies to contact me or fans who are willing to give up their gear to offer it. With my daily schedule it isn't about clicks an much as it is covering everything worth covering. Also I feel you with the Boxes.. THE BOXES.. Rented a second apartment to sleep with my boxes..
BOXES! I'm half-expecting a bunch of rodents to move into my abode this winter. I could see the little mouse-conversations now: "Yo, did you see this guys place?!!? This dudes got a whole city for us! I'm talking high rises, bike lanes, coffee shops, all that! I even heard that some of these cribs have foam - and you know how much my girl loves that!"
I am glad multiple reviews exist. Somewhere within say 3 or more reviews, I can get an average and decide who is the most truthful. Multiple reviews gave me a dissenting voice (which turned out to be 100% true) about a product. With the various hyped reviews about the Monoprice M-1060, I found one that was true. Turns out, the one negative review was correct. The headphones were abysmally bad for build quality (mine fell apart in a few minutes) and had ugly midrange distortion. You'd never know this from the fanboi reviews, from obviously hearing-impaired individuals unable to notice a giant 5khz distortion.
I'd encourage most people to look at multiple reviews when shopping for anything, be it professional, consumer, or both. There are many things that people look for in a review. For me, I look for somebody who showcases experience and knowledge on the subject matter/product. I also purposefully look for something negative so my expectations can be leveraged appropriately.
Hard to imagine that some companies run by the 'oldies' don't get TH-cam... I'm 63 and watching hi-fi gear review channels is a must for me. I'm always going to be thankful to you for introducing the IOTAVX SA3 to the world 😊
I wish the situation were different. The Hi-Fi industry has always been a touch slow when it comes to recognizing change and shifts in the marketplace. Naturally, there are exceptions to the rule! Glad you're digging the SA3. It's a pretty sweet lil' integrated. :)
Zero Fidelity Sean did you listen to the Audiolab 6000A ? I was thinking an upgrade amp with SA3 but then this other integrated spoted into my rdr. I'll apreciate any thoughts can you offer!!🙃
Agreed - I got here late (2 years, it appears), but I'm 79 years old, been an amateur (I try hard) audiophile for over 30 years, and watch a LOT of TH-cam channels, basically related to Hifi gear & photography.
Sean, thank you very much for being who you are, being true to yourself and the content that you put out and most importantly answering those burning questions that all of us have. I think your production is fine, this isn’t your full time gig, but you come from a prospective that most wouldn’t dare touch, which in my opinion gives you credibility beyond reproach.
Sean their lost !! You do one of the best jobs on audio reviews thank you for the inspiration , I was going threw a very hard time and the music and audio has been therapy for me and the subscribers i do have are freaking awesome !!!!
Keep plugging away at your channel man - and as it grows - remember to keep it fun. Sometimes you gotta be selfish and do what makes ya happy. Regardless of the clicks. :D
@@ZeroFidelity Thanks Sean , I really enjoy reviewing Audio , Ohh yeah thanks for the review of the AQ Golden gates , They sound great for price point !
Very good explanation of the process Sean. As mentioned, I often review gear that either my audience is asking about or something I personally want to check out. Keep up the great work.
Quick comment: I need to make it clear that not every reviewer is motivated purely by 'clicks', nor is every manufacturer looking strictly at ROI (Return On Investment) when sending out a product for review. Context matters! The focus on this video is about a very particular topic and the factors that play into it.
When I listen to content of this kind I want to hear information. I don't want to hear what the person is feeling or other countless digressions that waste my time. I feel your channel totally delivers and hope you get more people sending you stuff.
Your YT site and production is a reflection of the honest, no BS, and accurate reviews. Your subs get it and love it. Guess, ultimately you’ll need to decide on a signature, like and amp/speaker, for your business. Maybe there’s a compromise like your transitions. Keep at it. Always appreciated.
Exactly, but that is nothing wrong with it. Hyped products are popular for a reason, at least they are not bad and people want the impression of them from different experts. To put it simple, they are providing reviews that people want.
I don't mind all the reviews about the same things. As long as its completely honest and unbiased. Im guilty of using TH-cam reviews to help deside what audio gear to purchase next.
Finding honest reviews are easy. Finding unbiased reviews is like finding a needle in a haystack. Anyhoo - I'm just like you. TH-cam has been responsible for me spending a sh*t ton of money on products. Particularly cars. .... It's... a problem.
Since I started watching a variety of TH-cam vidoes reviewing moderately priced gear in concise detail I've stopped buy stereo magazines. These 20 minute videos save you time and are more entertaining than dry print reviews.
Multiple reviews don't really bother me, but I am glad you addressed the other issue of why certain gear seems to get ignored. Specifically: I had been wondering for about the past year or so why Bob Carver gear never seems to get reviewed. He's been around forever and his new tube stuff looks pretty cool. . . . but there aren't many reviews out there. I believe he's at a lot of the big audio shows, but no one ever comments on his gear. I started to wonder if there wasn't some "insider reason" for this but for all of my digging around, I couldn't find anything. He seems to be well enough respected guy. Am I missing something?
The explanation is rather simple: Carver fell under the radar long ago. Unless there are people on the press side that are big fans of his work or have good connections with the company, odds are most people haven't given their wares a whole lot of thought. There's no insider situation going on. It's a matter of the company not reaching out to the press. Be it print pubs, webzines, bloggers, or TH-camrs. If you want people to talk about what you're doing - then you need to make the effort to get your product into the hands of people who have an audience. Simple stuff.
@@ZeroFidelity Thanks for the reply Sean. And it makes perfect sense. I have only in the past 3-4 years or so gotten the hi-fi bug, but I am a middle-aged guy and I do remember seeing Carver stuff in magazines long ago (same with Adcom or, well, any number of companies).
Thank you for the hard work. It is not that i don't appreciate the production values but i prefer honest and to the point reviews. If the production value is there as well so be it but it comes second.
Unsure about this as I don’t know Thomas personally but to me it seems like he’s motivated only by whatever strikes him. The guy goes into hiding for months at a time and posts videos about things that seem to bounce around with little in the way of theme. But that’s also part of the intrigue. Maybe behind the scenes he’s a mad scientist for the clicks but on the surface it seems like that can’t be his agenda.
@@mpp9964 Ah Mark, I speak to Sean frequently and he means well. Sure I make videos on stuff I am passionate about but I would be a hypocrite if I say I don't enjoy seeing a lot of people checking out my video :) Infact, one of my success indicator that I put for myself is 10k clicks! I would like to say thank you for supporting me.
I've seen so many reviews of the RP 600 M, I even dream of them. Haven't heard them yet though. This Christmas the "hear"-down is going to be between Klipsch and Oberon 3 for me.
Before you make a purchase, if you have the possibility, try the Edifier S2000Pro or better the S3000Pro, or some vintage speakers, like JBL L46, KEF Calinda, Dali 4B(from the time they used Vifa speakers), B&W DM17. I had the Klipsch RP-600 and i sold them because they were really poor in term of high frequency resolution. I have read so many good reviews for these speakers all over the internet and i thought that i made some mistake in positioning or matching with the amplifier and i went to try them in a local specialized store and they still sounded very poorly compared with the ones that i mentioned earlier.
Daniel Simion Interesting as the only people I have heard put them down were people that had a stick up their rear for Klipsch to begin with. Some people will never like Klipsch and that is ok. Different stokes for different folks.
@@scottyo64 I don't say that i don't like Klipsch, i just say that these speakers doesn't sound as good as the people say. They lack information in upper frequencies and i tested them with multiple amplifiers. For example, the Edifier S2000Pro lack a bit in bass, but the mids and higher frequencies they are a lot better. Just test them with Red Norvo - How's your Mother-In-Law track. On this track is the most obvious.
Hey Sean you're the man. You have the most honest take on all things audio. That is except streaming or Dacs lol. Personally I like seeing reviews of the same product by different reviewers. I think it's really helpful for anyone that can't audition a particular product in person. If the consensus is that say a Kilpsch, Buchardt or Kef speaker is an excellent product, than more than likely it is. You keep on Rocking bro regardless of what some big audio companies may think. Zero Fidelity is a legit channel with non bias honest reviews.
Hey Mario. Thanks man. Yeah... streaming has never been my thing. Which is unsurprising given how I still use a freaking flip phone. Otherwise, I totally agree with your take away regarding using reviews to reach a general consensus. Keep rockin'!
I enjoyed this review on so many different levels I can't go into them all but I am an old fart who is looking to update my system . I used to listen to the systems and see how they operate before a purchase well you can not do that anymore.I went into the store I told the salesman what I wanted he asked me what my needs were and told me I need a sound bar and he could demo that. I told him again the speakers and AV I was interested in he stated " I can order that online for you" No we do not have that to demo he preceded to show me AV for $3000 and a speaker for $2500 and that is $3500 more than my budget and yes I did tell him what my budget was for two items this is why I go to you tube and look at reviews thanks for the great reviews
I love watching multiple reviews of the same Hi-Fi gear. In fact... I wouldn't mind if you did 10 more videos on buchardt S400's. I'd watch em all! Twice!!
Great information and answer some questions that I had. But first and foremost when I go to listen to reviews I want to hear reviews on everything but like you say everything's not out there and the reason I'm after reviews is so I do not waste money. Unfortunately there's so much to be reviewed it's still difficult for a newbie to come into this and not make hundreds or thousand dollar mistakes. I think most reviewers want to preach to the choir which is understandable but not much help to newby's. when I was in high school late sixties early seventies it seemed to be a little bit easier now there it's a little more complicated and going back into audio in today's scene is somewhat intimidating. A well-thought-out video on audio 101 (not reviewing equipment) would be helpful too many, power plug into the wall to speaker placement, and everything in between. Hey thanks for this video you got me thinking.
Thanks Mike. So believe it or not, I've posted a number of videos like that on this channel. What people seem to be wanting from me - now more than ever - is a buying guide. For me to just tell you all, straight up, what I think you should get at any given price-point. I may do that at the end of the year. We'll see. :)
Exactly right. It's all about the 'clicks'. As an example, this is exactly why you see so many Photo review channels 'selling out' to Sony and are now reviewing/promoting their gear, cuz they're well aware that there are guzillions of consumers that go gaga over all-things Sony and will thus increase their clicks 10 fold. Which means alot of the quality stuff will continue to go unnoticed. Pretty sad.
@@ZeroFidelity Holy mackerel, literary reference and response! Warms the cockles of every English major's heart. The Sound and the Fury, rave on Sean, we are not alone. LOL!
I really love you channel, and I appreciate what you because you have such a realistic and down-to-earth way of seeing and understanding of the the things are. You're a really smart and intelligent guy. I wanted to suggest that maybe you pay more attention to the sound quality on you videos. I'd maybe consider putting a mic somewhere closer so it picks up more of your voice and less of the room. You can use closed back headphones or earbuds to kinda monitor the mic output and just go around the set where you want to film and find the best sounding spot clear voice that is not intrusive, not spitting syllables in your face, doesn't capture the saliva action in your mouth (I've seen people use too sensitive mics and it can get grows). You can then play mastering it. I'd maybe get iZotope Ozone or some kind of sound mastering VST and get the levels right and noise floor managed. Then maybe get a vintage tube sound compressor VST to warm the thing up. Then (this is the idea that just came to me) You might try using one small condenser stereo mic to pick up just the room, do mastering on your voice in mono and add a background stereo recording of the room in the background. I think HiFi guys would go nuts over killer audio on the video even if it's just a voice.
Hey Rick, there are some reviewers on this platform where you don't have to read between any lines. I'd like to say I'm one of them. I'll tell you what a product is and is not all about. No, I won't slam the living hell outta somebody, but that's usually because I'm careful about what I review and am familiar with design, compromise, the marketplace, material and labor costs, etc.
Very clear! Superb video. If you ever have a chance to review Swan / Hivi speakers that’d be very interesting. They have M5A which are really intriguing... I have one pair of their much cheaper speakers and I’ve been very happy with them.
I've only watched a couple of your videos, but you sound like you know what you're talking about. It's not all about the production quality. Doug DeMuro is killing it with car reviews that have very little production. You mentioned Audiophiliac another channel without much production. Some people are more into production than others. I was just speculating on why Klipsch shows up so much in reviews, but I guessed from seeing their website that they were pretty aggressive with internet marketing. Those photo sets with the Heritage series are incredible examples of marketing. It makes me want to own a set of those speakers for sure.
Sad that some companies are jeopardizing their future by ignoring how marketing is done today. Buchardt, Schiit and Elac are handing them their lunch. Great vid as always.
Hey Sean a appreciate your reviews and thanks for the explanation. Have you ever considered reaching out to viewers who have systems that you would be intrigued by to see if you could review gear at enthusiasts homes? That way you aren’t at the mercy of the manufactures. Just a thought
Appreciate the suggestion. The answer is: Naw. I'm against reviewing personal property for liability reasons - and I don't want to commit both my time and somebody elses to reviewing their system. Perhaps I'll revisit my stance in the future.
A quick trick to increase clicks on any speaker review: just include in its title "[X] speaker review and comparison to Klipsch RP600M, KEF LS50 and Elac Debut" :)
Buwahaha Oh it's so freaking true. Or "Buy a *BLAH* instead of a *BLAH*. Or "Why BLAH blows me away!!!". Not hating on it. Just getting a nice chuckle out of the situation. Mostly because it freaking works. :D
Anyway, it’s good to have comparisons with well-known speakers. Some reviewers do not offer any comparisons at all, everything sounds fantastic in their opinion. There is zero value in such reviews IMO.
My grandparents used to say all the time as long as you learn something new everyday you'll never be stupid I find a lot of videos on TH-cam informative that's what I like to use it for to inform my brain LOL least videos are informative
Sean, you're a mind reader! Thanks for the open and honest information (as usual!! ). I wondered why I was seeing a lot of reviews on some products (Klipsch RP-600M) but not on others (Zu Audio). I was looking for more information on the Zu Audio Dirty Weekend and was struggling to find any product reviews. I know they're not run by old guys and I've seen some interviews on another TH-cam channel but I haven't seen any product reviews. I'm curious why you or others haven't reviewed anything from Zu? No interest in FRS?
I completely agree with you, I steer clear of those channels that seem to be only about Marketing, sales, and affiliate link so that they can get free merch from the companies and income from the flu viewers. Also I like the fact that multiple experienced listeners review the same products, however it becomes somewhat on unique when everyone is influenced to purchase the same..
Hey Sean, talking about seeing the same products reviewed on YT channels, what's your take on the scarcity of big speakers reviews. I appreciate that unpacking, placing, reviewing, shipping a large floorstanding speaker can be a huge burden for you guys, but don't you think it's a pity that we mostly see bookshelves reviewed. Take for example Tekton, the have a huge range of speaker but there's no video online reviewing the Ulfberht, the Encore or the Moab. Same goes for other manufacturers: ATC, Linn, B&W, Wilson.
You nailed the first part of it! I think people would be shocked by how much time and effort goes into producing video reviews of hi-fi gear. Doing it on a regular basis is exhausting, and there isn't a whole lot of payoff for all of the time and energy that goes into the effort. So it's easy to understand why few people on this platform are willing to add to their workload by bringing in big and heavy loudspeakers. That's borderline masochistic! But it doesn't stop there.. A lot of manufacturers are reluctant to send out big and heavy stuff for a couple reasons. 1) Resources. 2) The cost of freight both to and potentially from the reviewers abode. 3) The risk of damage while the big and heavy product is in transit. 4) The risk of damage while the big and heavy product is in the reviewers home. 5) Having to deal with what is now a used big and heavy product that can no longer sell for full-price. And then finally 6) Questioning whether the ROI is worth the hassle.
@@ZeroFidelity Thank you Sean for the great answer. I assumed it was that. I think John Darko or Andrew Robinson have talked before about all the effort that goes in handling speakers for reviewing. It's a pity, because we consumers have to rely on dealers to audition anything too big and bulky. And we don't have that many in here in London: a couple of dealers who cater to millionaires and the rest are chains with all speaker crammed I one room.
Excellent video. Especially considering you are ad libbing. What I'd like to see is a discussion of sound systems designed for home theatre use VS 2 channel stereo . It isn't easy these days to walk into an audio store that isn't narrowly focused on Home Theatre.
I tried to keep my above comment short but If I want a meaningful response perhaps I should elaborate my conundrum. I want an amplifier and speaker that will deliver quality sound as a 2 channel stereo system. There are so many more AV Amps and speakers that are shown as part of an overall Home Theater system. The AV amps in particular come with so many more features that I don't feel I need or want to pay for. Even your normal 2 Channel Integrated Amp usually comes with a built in DAC and Phono Stage. My CD player comes with a built in DAC and I already have an excellent Phono Stage. Bottom line, because of limited selection I'm frustrated at being asked to pay for additional 'Gadgets' I don't want or need. I've considered buy an AV amp, can an AV Amp deliver quality sound for CD or Vinyl? Without breaking the bank.
Multiple reviews are necessary, because no one reviewer covers everything I want to know about. I saw a Buchardt review from someone who doesn’t have lots of subscribers (Vinyl Rundown) but he clued me in on having to fill out paperwork with FedEx before I can get a pair, and how that all works; none of the other reviewers said one thing about that.
Here's the deal...When it comes to listening to music...there's a ton of variables. First of all your ears. No one has the same ears... Then your room...Acoustics....Then your amp, preamp, then the speakers....Then the amount of volume you can play it all at. It really all comes down to your ears...and do you need to feel the music? I've got some bad ass audio gear. I have some that is cheap and I like it. It's like my guitars. I have some high end one's and some cheap ones that are my favorites!
The rags are disappearing until there are only a few left. Most people I know go to the internet for equipment information. So many of the older companies who made high quality equipment are also gone. They need the internet more than the internet needs those companies.
Nice explanation. Where in those three classes of companies is Ohm? They are direct to consumers, like Buchardt. But an older dude owns and runs it, not hip like the young kids. And yet .... I would love for you to review one of their speakers -- the Walsh 2000 or 3000. I'm in the market and was set on those, but the popularity of the Buchardts have distracted me.... put off my decision for a while.
@@ZeroFidelity So does this mean that you need a lot of power to run the S400. By the way, can you mix brand of preamp and power amp? Or does it need to be in the same brand? Thanks again.
@@michelleancheta7689 - The S400's like power, but you don't need a whole bunch of it. The Hyperion isn't a beast in terms of power, and it fuels them just fine. And yes, you can mix pre-amps and amps. :)
@@ZeroFidelity Have you heard about Schiit Freya preamps? I was planning to match this with Hyperion. However, I don't know if this will be a good match. Or should I just stick with the Hestia. Thanks again for all the advice. Have a nice day.
Great video man and I totally get your drift. You guys want the clicks, so you review what you think will give you more views. That aside from some manufacturers aren't on board and you can't get their gear. I think a little differently from you and it's largely based on good business acumen I think. That is, in order to stand out from the 'crowd' you need to differentiate. The 'crowd' is merely the average punter and I guess one could argue that's the masses. I'd suggest stick to your guns and if you reality believe in a product, no doubt others will also. Personally, I'm rather tired of most things Klipsch & would love to hear about some of the multitude of other speaker choices there are out there. By contrast, the Buchard line were/are different as they were largely unknown and sure it's great they've been hyped up online, otherwise many folk would still be none the wiser. Klipsch on the other hand can be found in a great majority of audio retailers. They really don't need much of a push at all and most (not all) people can easily listen to them if they so desire. Are they good speakers, that's neither here nor there, most can go decide for themselves. However, there's so much more out there. Between most of the audio channels that hit my feed, I hardly ever see much on turntables (niche market perhaps), cables (yup, you courageously tackled that), amps and more. Most reviewers seem to be reviewing speakers 80% of the time....and perhaps 20% in all other possible gear. That seems very lopsided to me. I'm not saying that especially applies to you, I'm speaking generally. Therefore, TH-cam patrons essentially get speaker overload. There are some reviewers (not many) who seem to specifically tackle a myriad of topics, often difficult subjects (like this) & from looking outside/in appear to be well respected and with a strong subscription base So what am I really trying to say.....possibly it's just this: Don't aim to be only mediocre because you feel it will attract a larger audience. Review with your ears and heart and remain honest and true to yourself. Now.....go get some rest. Cheers!!! Edit = typo correction texting on phone as usual.📲
You bring up a number of fair points. Granted, they diverge a bit from the context of this video, but I nonetheless appreciate you taking the time to lay them out. If Zero Fidelity were to become a bonafide business, then I'd immediately cover a wider range of products and subjects. Until then, I will continue treating this channel like the bastard child that it is - and focus exclusively on products that capture my interest. :)
@@ZeroFidelity Oh from this video alone, I had the impression that this or at least audio reviewing generally was your business.😦 Well....I wish you every success, your style appears very honest with no bull. Good luck!!
Also because reputable companies and truly good gear doesn't need reviewing. Entry level stuff that is mostly based off of the same technology and same quality of components (dacs and amps) does because thats the only way it will rise above the rest. Speakers are different I guess because they are all unique in their own right, but its almost impossible to convey how much they might be worth to someone else... The best way to buy a speaker is to listen to it.
Is that why when I buy gear based on reviews they usually suck like those klipch you’re talking about I went to buy them and they did not impress me at all maybe for the price only. I bought a b&w pv1 used for $200 and I was surprised to see that nobody has a proper review on it and it has been around for awhile
There isn't enough reviews for English speakers. I still have my Proac Response 1 from 1992. 'Upgraded' to B&W Signature 805 in 2007, can't listen to them. Went back to the Proacs, until today in 2019. I am looking at the new Proac Response DB1 (or the tablette 10 signature), there are hardly any reviews anywhere.
Sean, thanks for the video. Now I as a viewer want to ask you a question : how come you hardly ever review active speakers ? Don't tell me all manufacturers are not interest since John Darko already reviewed quite a lot of them. So following your theory this means there are active speaker manufacturers out there do embrace youtube reviews.
Hardly ever? Just this year, I reviewed actives from PMC, Vanatoo, Fluance, and Audioengine. Now if you wonder why I don't cover them all the time, the answer is because I'm not *that* interested in active speakers. I've heard many. Owned plenty of professional monitors at all different prices. It's just not my bag.
@@ZeroFidelity Yeah, I kind of feared you were not that interested. Care to share why 'it is not your bag' ? Technically speaking, they are superior than passives (if well implemented). And as a bonus you don't have to chase a matching amp.
Sadly audio manufactures can be good engineers but terrible businessmen and salesmen, we are approaching 2020 and you have to change with the times, youtube is the biggest and best method of reaching people, sadly this creaky old industry still thinks a magazine review is where it is at. Of course they will look at views and subscribers, they just need to suss out who has bought subscribers and who is genuine.
Because there are marketers in conference rooms at audio companies that know the value of advertising on TH-cam and they exploit the reviewers to move their products. That's fine, we love the reviews and if we buy the products based on your channel, and the product fails or we don't like it, you still get lots of views. It's a win-win for everyone but the consumers if and when the product fails. But I think you guys are kind of getting the short end of the stick. The big winner are the manufacturers and TH-cam!
If a product fails, its a fail for everyone involved. The manufacturers credibility (should) take a hit. The reviewers credibility (should) take a hit. The consumer just wasted their money and/or time. YT is the only one who indifferently wins out in the scenario you just laid down - and even then. - what are they winning in terms of revenue generated by hi-fi videos? Even collectively, it's barely enough to cover any of their employees monthly salary.
Great video. I am sorry but if something is hyped up I am going to avoid it, been burned too many times. If it hyped up it can mean there is more behind it and it is not necessarily the right product for you just based on everyone saying it is amazing. Time to look elsewhere for equal or better products that tick your boxes.
@@jonberg469 oh yeah? I was never ever interested in Schiit Audio until I stumbled across this amp a few days ago. Reviews are off the charts for the price and the thought of 140 watts class A. Can you tell a little about them? What are you running?
@@Audfile I believe its only 10 watts of class A then technically 70 watts of AB. 80 watts into 8ohms total. Compared to my old Emotiva AB amp. It's night and day better. I think the power underrated though. Its a very powerful amp with a very meaty and slighy warm sound signature. I run it with a cambridge cxn as my source, freya + as my preamp. For speakers I have kef R300 and Elac Adante as-61 in a medium sized treated room. Half volume on the freya + is VERY loud in my room. I'm going to AB test it versus $50,000 audio research amps that put out 600W of class A in a very large treated room. I'll let you know how it performs.
Best way to make this happen is to reach out and hip them to my channel. I'm backlogged AF right now. But if enough people ask, then I'm sure they'll reach out at some point. Seems like the Aegir would be a good fit for this channel.
@@ZeroFidelity I'm sure that Jason & Mike at Schiit are backlogged too, especially in the wake of Steve Guttenberg's Aegir review. They are also struggling to re-launch the Sol turntable which will be a good nearly-DIY option once they resolve the platter issues.
My first impression is I could not agree more from the title! My second is hurry up and get to the point. Four minutes later. Ok, so it's just like hip hop and dj music, no substance... just get to the 'hook' and make money, same concept...go on at 6:07....So it's the same for reviewers who are monetized on Amazon and give links to their product reviews. Me thinks I shall get into this racket soon, I hate seeing the money train go past.
Kind of like with pro sound technology EAW is the biggest baddest brand in the business by a wide margin but you don't see much on TH-cam about them for that matter you don't even see them in the big pro audio store at all but go to any major concert and you will most likely see there giant size speakers of course it could just be the ridiculous cost of their equipment

For me, I look for somebody who showcases experience and knowledge on the subject matter/product. I also purposefully look for something negative so my expectations can be leveraged appropriately.
@@ZeroFidelity I'd say avoid any "reviews" done by an audio company or salesperson. They are going to be positive just to sell.
Thanks for the insight to industry machinations, now I understand these quirks I wonder over. Great work as usual!
Oh man this was one of your best videos. I really appreciate your candidness. Subscriber forever.
Thanks for the support throughout the years man. Much appreciated!
The cigar industry is exactly the same. The contrast between older owners that don’t care about the internet and newer brands is stark.
interesting
Very good explanation of the process Sean. As mentioned, I often review gear that either my audience is asking about or something I personally want to check out. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! So hows the back after moving around all that Monoprice gear? Some of their new stuff looks sickkkk. I'm sure it sounds awesome as well.
Quick comment: I need to make it clear that not every reviewer is motivated purely by 'clicks', nor is every manufacturer looking strictly at ROI (Return On Investment) when sending out a product for review. Context matters! The focus on this video is about a very particular topic and the factors that play into it.
Thanks for always putting an effort into explaining how the industry works. You're the only Audio reviewer I know who does that.
Thanks for watching!
When I listen to content of this kind I want to hear information. I don't want to hear what the person is feeling or other countless digressions that waste my time. I feel your channel totally delivers and hope you get more people sending you stuff.
Multiple reviews leads to more knowledge which is very important another great review thank you for what you're doing.
The teardown reviews are my fave
I've thought of this question so many times. Thanks for answering.
Answer: TH-camrs want revenue from talking about popular items which are often searched.
Exactly, but that is nothing wrong with it. Hyped products are popular for a reason, at least they are not bad and people want the impression of them from different experts. To put it simple, they are providing reviews that people want.
I have bought a pair of the Klipsch RP 600M and the NAD 316bee V2 based on so many good reviews. I am not disappointed.
Particularly cars. .... It's... a problem.
the zeos effect is very real....after every product he reviews, prices in amazon go up....or down...
Homeboy can def. move the needle. Particularly on products below the $1000 price-point.
There to munch computation. There a lot of good deal now

Appreciate it! I wish more people felt the same way as you!
Good insights, Sean . Thank you.

I've seen so many reviews of the RP 600 M, I even dream of them.
Haven't heard them yet though. This Christmas the "hear"-down is going to be between Klipsch and Oberon 3 for me.
Sounds like a fun time!
Hey, thanks for the tip. But this is a matter of I'll believe when I hear it :)
Clever way of sending message to companies: Send me your products!
Haha An unintended message!
Sorry you had such a negative experience. That sucks. Thanks for the kind words!

Multi reviews is not an issue with me. Just makes me drink more coffee now that alone is a new issue lol. Keep up the good work my friend.
Great video, thanks. I have never heard about Buchardt Audio
Thank you. I understand you better and like your attitude.
Pretty sad.
yet you mention sony twice, and do not mention of these needing attention companies... pretty sad

I like watching multi reviews and read in between the lines. I believe that is where you get the real story.
@@ZeroFidelity I will agree with that.
Yup ... it 'seems' that, as a company, if you're not doing youtube you're audience is ... literally ... dying off. Good luck with that !!
Yep. The mindset that some companies are locked in certainly call to question their future viability. As always, the market will have the final say!
I got some KEF Q 150s and they roll off, so l want some LS 50s instead, maybe. Are they significantly brighter than the Q 150s?
Hey Sean a appreciate your reviews and thanks for the explanation. Have you ever considered reaching out to viewers who have systems that you would be intrigued by to see if you could review gear at enthusiasts homes? That way you aren’t at the mercy of the manufactures. Just a thought
Appreciate the suggestion. The answer is: Naw. I'm against reviewing personal property for liability reasons - and I don't want to commit both my time and somebody elses to reviewing their system. Perhaps I'll revisit my stance in the future.
You actually sound like Steve Guttenberg, dude.
99% yes. 😂
He doesn't have the same Brooklyn accent.
Ouch.
Hi Mate , thanks for all the great review. Can you recommend a good power amplifier to power the Klipsch RP600M using Marantz AVR? Thanks in advance.
It's nice when reviewers find and present some interesting non mainstream products to showcase.
Could you please review HTD level 3, I'm thinking about building a theatre room but best bang for my buck is a priority.

Sean, it's okay that you don't review McIntosh products. I can't afford it.
No interest in FRS?
it's all about marketing my friend, the best example is BOSE lots of companies learned from them about the importance of good marketing
My take on some these reviews, it that it just advertising. When the “production” is too polished, it’s an ad.
I agree. That's why I unsubscribed to Mark-ass Brownlee.
@@claudec2588 Denon has stereo recievers too. Also the PMA stereo amplifiers
What category does Cyrus Audio fit into, there are bugger all reviews of their gear, well other than the digital amp they now have.

Of all the amps that you have used running the Buchardt S400, which amp best matches these speakers and produces the best sound quality? Thanks!
The Parasound JC5 and the Denafraips Hyperion. Nothing else has even come close.

There are some reviewers (not many) who seem to specifically tackle a myriad of topics, often difficult subjects (like this) & from looking outside/in appear to be well respected and with a strong subscription base
So what am I really trying to say.....possibly it's just this:
Don't aim to be only mediocre because you feel it will attract a larger audience.

Nice video 👍
Is that why when I buy gear based on reviews they usually suck like those klipch you’re talking about I went to buy them and they did not impress me at all maybe for the price only. I bought a b&w pv1 used for $200 and I was surprised to see that nobody has a proper review on it and it has been around for awhile
Do you recommend audioengine a5+ with subwoofer it edifier 350db?

One other thought on this topic: does a large number of positive reviews on TH-cam ever result in a subsequent review in Stereophile or TAS?
check out quadral if you have the chance to. i have the platinum +two and i love them
Sadly audio manufactures can be good engineers but terrible businessmen and salesmen, we are approaching 2020 and you have to change with the times, youtube is the biggest and best method of reaching people, sadly this creaky old industry still thinks a magazine review is where it is at. Of course they will look at views and subscribers, they just need to suss out who has bought subscribers and who is genuine.
Yeah! Where's the reviews of B&W, Paradigm, Martin Logan, monitor A, etc??
Even collectively, it's barely enough to cover any of their employees monthly salary.
great talk subject
See if you can get the Technics SU G 700.
Hardly any reviews of this beautiful product
Polk legend coming up? Please
Great video. I am sorry but if something is hyped up I am going to avoid it, been burned too many times. If it hyped up it can mean there is more behind it and it is not necessarily the right product for you just based on everyone saying it is amazing. Time to look elsewhere for equal or better products that tick your boxes.
Schiit Aegir.. monoblocks!
Hell yeah, I have a pair and they rock!
“Hard No”... I’ll ride with Zero
I think the answer is very easy: Why did you put exactly those 2 speaker next to you? Advertising, advertising and advertising and clicks.
Good video. But I have some bad news for you... Someone sold you non-matching speakers.
I don't normally do this but I'm going to make a huge exception in your case. Give me a call and I'll help you with some of those boxes of gear.. At least give you one room back.
Dig it
I would rather support a company that wants their products reviewed on TH-cam than those who don't.
No reviews for Crosley.
