Their influence on other bands is only trumped by that of the smashing pumpkins circa 1990s it's crazy how a band can influence so many others that then go on to be successful themselves..
@Gerardo Dibbert LOL I see your mother dropped you on your head when you were a baby The Strokes are a million times better than Fountains of Wayne what the f*** are you been talkin about
@Gerardo Dibbert No, but let's be adults about this.. please give me an example of a fountain of Wayne song that you can say "The Strokes" are imitating and I will apologize and admit that I was wrong..to be honest I don't listen to any of their music so.. I could be wrong.
@Gerardo Dibbert Also..I commented when I was really drunk. I don't live my life on social media and only come on here when I'm drunk and have nothing better to do because I don't drink and drive so I had nothing to do.
You know why the end has no end? Its because you let your fears and anxiety haunt you down. I'm literally crying right now and this is one of the songs that tears me to pieces and at the same time glue those all together stronger than before.
benicspo ...I can’t tell if you’re joking or not. Imagine they had no actual talent and they couldn’t even perform the vocals in their songs, what a shit show. This is why the strokes are great, Julian sounds just like the recording, he’s amazing. And the point is to see them live, hearing everything real time, supporting them. Feels great
i love the strokes so so much but can we just take a moment to speak specifically about what an unassumingly beautiful guitarist nick valensi is? the strokes has the tightest guitars of any rock band of the past twenty years, so sometimes i forget ... nick is really the star 💜

Man, his voice was so powerful and clear, not affected yet by all the drinking and smoking. But it was even better three years before this when they released their first album.
I'm one of the people who think "Room on Fire", their second album, was their best. It's a perfect song cycle. It faced a lot of criticism when it came out for being "too similar" to the first record, but the critics missed the point - they perfected their sound on that second record - and the songs were a hell of a lot stronger, IMO.
if you thought this was too slow, try listening to the song at 1.75 speed. The guitar riffs are ofc fast but Julian's voice still sounds the same. Its so cool
I love how they slowed it down cause of Julian's: "Yeah.... I drank homemade wine and ate clams on the beach with naked girls in Capri all day for a month and I've been in town for just about fifteen, oh, minutes now...." type of radioactive hangover vibes.
I think they were just coming off a very rough tour, so they're just drained of energy... I'm sure Fab feels like the Man with the Golden Arm here, he's so tired..
I remember Huey Morgan from the Fun loving criminals ripped the strokes to bits because they were rich upper-class. Schooled in Switzerland and were basically the elite. He was right but they’re still a great band.
I’m 17, and I’ve never been so obsessed with a band more. I watch them live on TH-cam everyday. I wish I could see them like this now
same
You should listen to the bands who influenced them. ;-) Go back to the late 70's and early 80's.
@@redadamearth what bands influenced them I’m curious
I am 24 and discovered them at 23 and feel the same
@@someone_takes_me5107 если ты в 17 их слушаешь, то ты скорее всего клëвый
Я очень поздно открыл их для себя
Nick's "synth guitar riff" is the secret weapon of this song...
Spot on.
The chorus melody hits so hard tho.
It's sort of a running theme throughout Room on Fire
anybody know how he got that tone?
@@GumterFaustino If you look at their picking patterns you can see it's nick
The strokes single handedly inspired a generation of rock bands that you still hear today, 20 years later. So fkn crazy.
Their influence on other bands is only trumped by that of the smashing pumpkins circa 1990s it's crazy how a band can influence so many others that then go on to be successful themselves..

Yup and it's not only Western rock bands. These cats has inspired bands from Asia too.
0:10 drunk julians life flashed before his eyes as he almost fell while standing still
Haha nice catch!
That valensi synth-riff never gets old
+Asklepios27 to cool
Fucking iconic. 2000's indie rock at its peak, right?
this performance is like an organic chopped n screwed version, conveying so much more sadness in the song, it's beautiful
never even seen it that way until now. its amazing
the scream at 1:47 is just perfection
abramsdrums totally agree
It sounded really weird to me
Alcohol power up
LILIANA ERAZO MONTESINOS LMFAO
The perfect part of this songs is the 16 seconds between 1.40 and 1.56
Julian's live and recording vocals are closer than anyone else in history and I'm not exaggerating.
alex turner
Josh Homme
Kele Okereke
Maynard James Keenan
Kevin Parker

take it easy, hunh?
most influential band in the last 15 years.
AtTheDriveBy Zelio Band xd
Absolutely not, it's Radiohead
Maxime Chafai radiohead doesn't have that big influence.
radiohead is boring lmao
@@Betooo Radiohead's work is more multi-dimensional than the strokes by quite some margin.
How does that deadpan drunken drawl immediately make me so filled with emotion
What I love about The Strokes is that they treat all their songs equally. From the hits to the deep cuts
No difference between live and recording. That's great
Why is that a good thing? If a band is exactly the same live as they are on record, what's the point of going to see them live?
@@benicspo9075 key word is "see"

The metronome is slightly slower in this version
Isn’t it a bit slowed down live?
Can't get over how cool Nikolai is in this performance
brother Julian is so talented I'll never tire of listening to him
Julian’s eyes are so expressive

Why have I never seen this......he sang the words so perfect lol
This live perfomance even better than original for me. Lead guitar hear much louder. I like it. So good song. Guitars best
man when I think of like the top 20 strokes songs, I never mention this song, but it's pretty much as good as any of their other songs. What a band
This band is amazing.
2019 I'm still strokes... Fans from Malaysia ✌
@Firdaus Haniphah kan...betul tu..zaman2 tu mmg best la
@Firdaus Haniphah betul tu....tapi zaman2 kita dulu paling seronok kwn rasa...

Nunca me cansare de esta banda
Room On Fire kept many memories for me since I was 13 yo.. Strokes forever ♥️
Video game guitar. I dont play video games anymore, but thats what it is before he plays real lead. I love it so much.
How is it possible to sing like that live.... o_O
No Autotune just Talent
these guys are such good musicians, their studio recordings must be one take shots
That intro shut down the audience applause real quick haha
Man, his voice was so powerful and clear, not affected yet by all the drinking and smoking. But it was even better three years before this when they released their first album.
Just seen them tonight in Vancouver, they were on point.
I was there too! Great show

I like it at least as much as the first. Valensi's chorus guitar also feels like a nod to Television's Venus.
Julian at his most socially excited i.e. DRUNK lol but always authentic, always easy on the eyeballs
this live version is amazingly close to the studio version. and shout out to Letterman's sound engineers
Man, they are way too cool
Julian's best live vocal performance.
La rola no está lenta, está elegante.
The song isn't slow, it's elegant.
it's a sad song. if we want it easy, we're never getting anywhere, not making any efforts, and it's going on forever.
if you thought this was too slow, try listening to the song at 1.75 speed. The guitar riffs are ofc fast but Julian's voice still sounds the same. Its so cool
This is my go to video when I’m drunk
These "oh no" are killing me
Albert impecable!
What a tune
another great song by THE STROKES
they just perfect live
awww... if i were to fall i think he would be worth it. he is soo adorable... 💖💖💖...
they sometimes slow down their songs for live performances
you don't really see bands that sound amazing in person and on the cd. Cant wait to see them next friday in NYC!
This broke my heart
Christ I haven’t seen a CD in yonks
I love how they slowed it down cause of Julian's: "Yeah.... I drank homemade wine and ate clams on the beach with naked girls in Capri all day for a month and I've been in town for just about fifteen, oh, minutes now...." type of radioactive hangover vibes.
💞💞💕💕
Haha that intro really shut down the audience from clapping. Love the strokes
Jules is escaping at the end ;P
The voices
perfect
Flawless
chill!
Lol all frustrated at 1:47
beautiful

he want it easy, he want it relaxed

1:40 best part for me. Especially Julian's almost unhinged scream at 1:47
MUSICA MUIT MUITO MUITO MUITO BOA

did jules take Nick's white blazer from 2$ Bill live ? lol
And Nik in Taken for a fool years later
Kagutsuchi love your profile pic

I played the first verse at 1.25 then but it back at normal during the drum solo and shit was incredible
@absortrock son la caña!

Put the speed at 1.15 and you get the album version lol
full HD 4k
Nice finish!
Most amusing
@markhxc93 yes, I know, but it was something else I put it so, because it was a band we had.
Put it at 1.25 speed its pretty good
Zayd Aldoais ok no
Hahahaha awesome!!! It does sound good!
Zayd Aldoais it already sounds pretty good
Sounds like an exorcism
1.25x is to fast, but the tempo is slower than usual here.
love the comments haha
@naota1800 yes!!! if not because they played well, he was time to Fabrizio
I thought the subtitles were just trying to be funny (and they are). Then I saw the video info in spanish and that made it that much more hilarious.
Que se ve rico...
@Italo56194 yes!! are great
Henneck te extraño mucho...
the way they rehearse music over and over again before going to the studios makes the live sound no different than the records
@Gemster618 que suerte tuviste brother!! son geniales
2:18 can anybody explain this?
