I have heard that during NDC government the NDC officials who was in charge have sold most of the assets there. I mean the lands.

It can never happen. The chiefs are the only ones who can sell the lands else they go to court and win.
If the land is not used for the purposes that the govt acquired it for, it automatically reverts to the chiefs.
