I am so sorry for your loss and I completely understand. I lost my little brother last month and it was unexpected and learning to live life without him is challenging and it hurts so much. I miss him. I had a hair apt this week with my natural stylist to do my normal braid down but I had a consultation for micro locs. She held me as I cried and told me that lately people have been coming to her for a major change with their hair after a challenging life event. She then washed my hair and she carefully took care of me as I cried. Her care was intentional and compassionate. It was a therapeutic experience and then later we had the consultation. I left her shop feeling empowered and supported. My loc day begins at the end of February and I cannot wait. Yes, grief is so hard. Sending you hugs and love. I hope your family member and my brother met up there and became fast friends. ❤ New subbie. God Bless! 🙏🏾
I am so very sorry for your loss. It is so kind of you to share. I’m not sure if I said it in the video (I can barely say it out loud), but I lost my baby sister. I’m glad you found a kind and understanding consultant. I hope you find communities of support to help you with the grieving process. I’m working on this very thing right now!
Your energy was light and bubbly today. I laughed alot w this one.😊 Im so sorry for the loss of a loved one and wish you sincere love and light during this time. Thank you for sharing, and per your usual, you looked beautiful.
Pray your in a better mental space now. ❤Your hair is beautiful I'm on my sisterlocks journey since 3/28/24. It's a process I tell you😂😂😂. I would like to thank you for your transparency and motivation speech. My mother in law embarrassed me in front of everyone at a family reunion and said I don't like your hair you should have consulted with me before you got that done to your hair. I said as opposed to what you have weave in yours, this us my GOD given hair. But I really thought my hair was beautiful at least that's what my husband said. Lol then she proceeded to try and touch my hair I backed away so quick and said no you can not touch my hair with your negative hands. Then 3 drinks later when she is inebriated 😂she said oh I'm going to get my hair done just like that for $75. I said sweetheart this is definitely not a $75 hair style but I'm glad you want to emulate this look.😂 You're right the way we wear our hair shouldn't divide us.
I’m getting there…a lot of life changes lately. That’s was quite an encounter with your MIL-whew! Sorry that you had to deal with that. Yeah…people don’t see the vision at the start of your journey sometimes. That’s okay though-it’s not their head!
Sorry to hear of the lost of your loved one. Sending prayers of comfort to you🙏🏾❤ Your hair is beautiful!😍 I'm almost 1yr into this journey😊 Peace & Blessings
Thank you for sharing your hair journey. It was very informative. I, myself have experienced temporary hair loss at the area you are having due to stress, it took 2 yrs to grow back. I hope your hair comes back. I’m very sorry for your loss. It helps to talk about it.
My four year sisterlock anniversary is coming up Oct30-Oct31 2024. I must say me getting sisterlocks was the best decision that i have made. Im 54 and i get hot flashes. I have tried EVERY hairstyle, I even had the traditional locks. I wanted sisterlocks because i can wear my hair in styles without restrictions. Grreat video and your hair grows fast.. ❤
First of all, so sorry for your loss. I know how that feels since i also went through the same once i finished my first year. Your hair is lovely has grown a lot and is thicker. I am in the fourth year now waiting to see how may hair will look once i reach year four. It a lot of confidence when i was beginning and i believed in the vision of how it would look like in five years. Having a vision is essential. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and i hope you will be well
Enjoyed watching your journey. Your hair is beautiful. I just reach my five year sister lock anniversary. I stopped coloring my hair a year ago and I like my grey hair.
I enjoyed your video. My condolences to you. I'm going to watch more. I'm 4 year locked Oct of 24 and I have alopecia too. I've not been seeing anyone. You've encouraged me to do so.
Hi Crista! I’m sorry for the loss of your loved one. You had me laughing in this video😁. I’m 7 months locked today. You’re definitely hair goals. Thank you❤
Congrats on your 4yrs I’ve had my sister locks for 9 yrs , but I’ve also had traditional locks before ,my sister locks have gotten so long that I had to cut them and didn’t realize how heavy they were until I felt the lightness after I cut them
Happy Thanksgiving, I have been enjoying your channel for a while, thanks for sharing. I agree let’s celebrate one another. God’s peace and understanding to you as you grieve 🙏🏽🧡
I don't love braiding and banding, but I do love a good braidout! On a regular washday, I think I'll braid the edges, and do big twists for the rest of my head. I'm not a fan of washing loose-so heavy.
I appreciate ur videos very inspiring 4me and tried braiding and banding a few times out of 1 1/2 and very little slippage and my edges are the same as the rest I'm loving ur hair the length and looking
Hey Queen Crista!!! It's always so refreshing to see your videos! Whether it be your clothing content or hair! Thanks so much for your message about uplifting ALL Black Queens! 🔥 My sincerest condolences on your loss 🙏
Gorgeous! Do you still have slightly curly ends? I just got mine established a week ago (yay!) and am hoping to keep my ends a teeny bit curly. How did yours change over time?
Personally, I like the look better without relaxed ends, but I understand if letting go of length is difficult for some. Hair is so personal, I’d do what makes me most comfortable.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video as you work through your grief. Sending prayers your way for comfort. I understand exactly where you are in your grief and it’s good you are working through it. I had not heard of the Hers Minoxidil for women. My dermatologist told me to use Rogaine for men because it’s 5%, but I’m happy to hear there is a minoxidil for women that is 5% and I’m hoping it does not cause the facial hair like the Rogaine does for me. How do you use the foam though? Do you use it in only the section that is thinning and do you do so only on the scalp without getting it on your hair?
That's funny you wished you colored your hair prior to install. I did a fresh color (blonde) prior to install against my SL consultants wishes but, I wish I didn't. It would've given that hair to grow color free and be stronger. I have fine thin hair but, with SL it's no longer that way. I'm almost 4 years and had my first trim because my hair was uneven due to the locking process and color from over the years. I still love my color but, all my original color is gone.
Hello, and thank you for the kind offer! After washing, I do add a bit of leave-in conditioner, and I think it helps. I’d love to know what shampoo you’d suggest. I’m always open to try something new!
Your crown (mane) is beautiful. Look up Dr. Hope Mitchell in Ohio. I'm not sure which city you're in, but Ohio is not that big? That's coming from a lady who lives in Michigan myself.
Thank you so much for watching! I’m planning to take better care of myself over the holiday break starting with finding doctors! I really appreciate the recommendation!
Congrats Crista😊❤ Your hair is beautiful❤. I'm 2 years and 3 months in and I am truly looking forward to shoulder length and beyond❤ Loving your hair❤❤❤❣️❣️💯My condolences to you...I'm so sorry to hear... take care.

I'm 2 yrs locked, and I only braid and band my edges where my shortest hair is so my baby locs won't slip.

My condolence on the loss of your loved one. Your hair is beautiful and full. How many locs do you have?
Thank you! Count on install: 502.
Gorgeous! Do you still have slightly curly ends? I just got mine established a week ago (yay!) and am hoping to keep my ends a teeny bit curly. How did yours change over time?
Nope! Those curly ends are just about gone. It took over 3 -3/12 years, but the curls just tighten/loc over time.
Please ask your dermatologist about nutrafol. My son dealt with alopecia due to illness. He has fully grown in hair now.
I will! Thank you!
Would you recommend chopping off the reminder of the relaxer before the install? Sounds like you did and sounds like I need to go this route as wll
Personally, I like the look better without relaxed ends, but I understand if letting go of length is difficult for some. Hair is so personal, I’d do what makes me most comfortable.

Installed by Chastity Vaughn, S2R Hair Studio in Richardson, TX. My Hair is Maintained by Robbii Miller in Columbus, OH.

Perfect length ❤
Thanks!
Love your locs! How many locs did you start with, if I may ask?
