I was last up there in September 2021. After my dad had passed. Just needing time and space to regroup. I drove solo down into the Three Forks area and camped for four days. I never saw another person/vehicle the whole time that I was in there. It had rained pretty hard on the morning before I got there. I almost didn't take a chance on doing it by myself. I just bought a Mohave (v6). How necessary is it to have a 392 as you and others seem to have ? Is the V6 as capable just less efficient ? Love to hear your opinion and love your work.
It is completely unnecessary to have a 392. It’s like saying you need a corvette to go buy groceries. It’s a total luxury car, but it’s a heck of a lot of fun to drive. The Pentastar 3.6 is a GREAT engine. I have the 3.6 in my JT Mojave and it’s been super solid. Also had one in my JK…super solid.
It really depends on tires size and clearance. The Birch Creek crossing is deep...especially during the Spring and early summer. We were on 37s and 38s and were fine, but it was Fall. Obviously you have the the power and weight to get across...really just a matter of traction/clearance. If you do go, make sure you go with someone else, or at least have a winch...that's an expensive truck to get stuck in a river! ALSO - I'm tracking down the person at the BLM office who can tell me whether or not these crossing are allowed. I always thought they were, but it seems to be a gray area. More to come on this.
@@NvFlyAngler I agree with Will. The water crossing could get dicey…we’ve met folks that say they’ve done it in stock rigs, and my wife has driven it in a stock gladiator with 34’s.
@@frontierstateoverland3816 I haven’t looked at a map yet so I apologize for the question: Is a water crossing necessary coming in from the main access road? If so, I’d probably wave off.
Those people on the river have been there for several years now. See them every time we head over there to fish. Pretty disgusting all of the trash and their campers. Apparently that is just how Oregon rolls.
@@Venture2Roam did you report them to rangers or law enforcement? I of course don't know what was going on but it sounds like something needs to happen. To make it safer for others that follow.
They’ve always been nice to me..but I’ve heard stories like that from others. I have been there when it’s completely overrun with ATVs and when it deserted…I much prefer it deserted.
In my opinion, omitting specific details about individuals’ actions can inadvertently create unnecessary fears and apprehensions. If I understand your intentions in creating videos, it is to encourage people to explore through “Overlanding.” However, I believe that this video, while informative and entertaining, creates uncertainty and apprehension for the same audience. In the future, I recommend providing a more detailed explanation to alleviate any concerns. I have a strong belief that no one was murdered or harmed, as such an event would have been reported on the news and you would not have posted it. Nevertheless, these are my thoughts.
@Venture2Roam what channel/freqs do you guys and other off-roaders use in Oregon for comms? In BC we use 146.100 Mhz to listen for other groups requests for help, info, etc. and might use another second channel just for the group private comms.

@@Venture2Roam Maybe this one isn’t for me after all. But I’m always watching for places in your vids that I can go. Thank you very much, Will!
Have you ever seen the movie “FIGHT NIGHT”? something is very familiar, can’t put my finger on it but it’s there for sure.
Lol. That’s a deep cut reference.
Just now watching your Owyhee vid. Excellent as always. Question: what are you using to record your radio comms??
I have a few different gadgets...but the Icom 52A is a radio that lets you record transmissions on a frequency...right to an SD card.
@Venture2Roam that's convenient! Wish my Midland MXT275 allowed for that!! Thanks for the response! Much appreciated!
You are dressed so casually in this one. Where is your usual overlanding formalwear?
😂😂😂
I should make a clothing line around that lol.
At 2:53 you might want to edit "105 acres"
I know. Too late. Meant 105,000 acres.
Will, I have the same rack that Chris has on his JK and I was wondering if he could send me the link on how he mounted his RTT?
@frontierstateoverland
For some reason the last two posts I’ve tried haven’t shown up! I’ll try breaking them up into smaller ones!
I started by getting the side load bars from metalcloak.
I then ordered some aluminum tube clamps from Amazon. They’re usually for mounting lights. I got 8. 4 for each side.
@@temeculajeep6589 tent goes on top. Super sturdy!
I live in Idaho and I've watched so much of it burn it just makes me sick😢
It was such a tough fire season this year.
Those people on the river have been there for several years now. See them every time we head over there to fish. Pretty disgusting all of the trash and their campers. Apparently that is just how Oregon rolls.
Ya better to just just keep rolling.
@@Venture2Roam did you report them to rangers or law enforcement? I of course don't know what was going on but it sounds like something needs to happen. To make it safer for others that follow.
If anything goes wrong you just call AAA and get a tow. 😃
😂
Where can a person get the info for your routes?
I haven’t published this one yet…it’s part of a larger project that will likely be done in 2025.
What lift is on Chris’s JK I heard him say 4.5 what brand
It’s a MetalCloak Gamechanger. th-cam.com/video/8InIsQbItC0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=unfSBY6-eCOTyAXf
Water crossing wasn’t that bad. It wasn’t above the bottom of the doors. JS 😊
@@Shawn-d5n but they felt much deeper at the time ! 😂
😂
what month is this filmed?
This was in September.
Silver city citizens makes you feel so unwanted. Which is weird for a thriving tourist attraction.
No murders on this trip.
Isnt the Birch Creek Ranch river crossing illegal? Ignorance is not an excuse and can result in access being eliminated.
You are not going to be exploring this area in an EV...
There are zero charge stations close by lol.
meth labs in the desert smh.
@Venture2Roam what channel/freqs do you guys and other off-roaders use in Oregon for comms? In BC we use 146.100 Mhz to listen for other groups requests for help, info, etc. and might use another second channel just for the group private comms.
