The S197 is a great value. You did a great job getting a California Special. They are fully loaded with extra appearance options. Yours has the GT500 wheels.
I got the Glass roof and I love it. Its been a very solid car for the last 6 years. But age is setting in and it needs some repairs and a respray. My goal is to make it a second vehicle this year so I can begin to go through it and put it back to how I got it when I pulled the cover off at the last owners garage.
Loved my 2009 4.0 v6! Actually has a glass roof and ambient lighting from factory. Goal is to actually 4.6 swap it. Ik it’s pry cheaper to get a GT, but my uncle rode in my car before he passed away and the car has huge sentimental value to me. Goal is to find a donor car and do the swap!
I just wanted to say, as a 56 year old (no, not quite a boomer) Mustang aficionado, I love seeing “kids” your age getting into Mustangs, especially S197’s. I say kids, because I believe my kids are about your age…😏 I can relate to you because I started out back when I was 20 with a 3 year old Mustang GT, and have owned a couple of dozen Mustangs since then, moving up every time. After several Fox body mustangs, a ‘69 and ‘70 Mach 1, several SN95 Mustangs including 2 SN95 Mach 1’s, I have finally moved up to my 9000 mile 2008 Shelby GT500, which must be how I bumped into your channel. I just wanted to say I went ahead and subscribed to your channel just to see what you do with your cool GT/CS! If you end up going 6 months between videos, I may unsubscribe, so keep ‘em coming! 🙂
The metal part of the bottom of the sparkplug is what falls in the head the ceramic part top of plug always comes out they make a special tool to get them out safely so if your going to do it yourself spend the extra money and buy the specialty tool
The 3v has that retroness to it that no other car really has. The exhaust note is better than the Coyote by a long shot. They are so much fun to drive, depsite the suspension setup. They’re very reliable (192k miles and counting on mine). And they have arguably the best aftermarket support out there.
I like your s197 but imo I'd have to say the 13-14 are the absolute best they have done so far.I have a 14 and love it more then the s550 for sure. The 05 to 10s aren't bad at all but like the tail light and headlight change and definitely the interior change and also the 5.0 coyotes lol.great video.
Yeah I’m more partial to the 05-9 because I like the older school look but I think the 13-14 is the best full modern mustang period at least in terms of looks. Honestly crazy to me how they went from that to the s550 after only having that style for just 2 messily years I think the 13-14s look so much better
Agreed I also prefer the 13/14 but the 05/09 years are so much more affordable especially for GTs. I've already had 3 from that year range 2 of which being GTs. My goal is a 13/14 GT500 though 🤤
I've seen some 08s with very low miles for over $20k. That's too much. I love the looks of the 05-09, but ended up buying a 14 GT convertible with 60k miles and I love it.
I own my 3v in 2022, Ive had it 5 years and love the hell out of it. Its such a timeless design and they have aged really well. They also look even more modern if you upgrade them and put in updated front and rear lights. Same with mirrors and other little things. Its also got a lot of memories with friends and even my ex who loved the car. Though mine needs a bit of work since mine is at 168k and its been an outside car since I pulled the cover off of it in the guys garage. It definitely needs a full respray and the front and rear bumpers replaced due to minor tweakings from 2 separate accidents.
I found a guy who will respray my rear quarter for about 1200 bucks. I'll probably take him up on that. this car is known to have paint flake around the rear window. I saw a black one on the road today that is flaking, looks pretty bad. I'll catch it before it rusts.
I bought my 2007 GT with 58,000 miles for about $15,000 After taxes in California back in 2016. I change the spark plugs at about 80,000 miles and two of them broke off in the head. I was able to get them out with as special tool. The car is great. Runs and drives great. Notable issues would be the alternator, the heater tube under the intake manifold that leaks and that spark plug issue. The car is currently at about 135,000 miles. I got into a little accident last year and insurance said they couldn’t fix it, they’d offer me $14,000 for the car. Ultimately they fixed it. I have big plans for this car. Forged internals, and an Edelbrock supercharger. Eventually, I’d like to get a T56 Magnum XL on this thing is well. Right now I’m working on suspension and brakes. I’m taking my time with this, I plan to have this car and build it up for the rest of my life.
I bought an 08 GT/CS convertible at the start of 2022. It’s quickly becoming my show car and weekend warrior as I change things to make it mine. I’m enjoying it enough to possibly buy a GT hardtop and go full Eleanor on it since this car is inspired by the 66/67 years.
I am currently looking at a 05 mustang gt In a different state for 6.5 k 120,000 miles on it for 6.5k but idk if it’s reliable and just worth it I need help
@@OscarPerez-tk3xd keep lookin boss man.. They are out there but definitely look at the car facts and make sure its been maintained and no salvaged titles
I just threw coilovers on mine and honestly I'd say the most important mods besides the usual intake and exhaust are coilovers to eliminate body roll and yaw, and lower and upper rear control arms with stiffer bushings to eliminate the wheelhop (don't get the upgraded bracket for the upper one unless you're fine dropping the axle and fuel tank or plan to drag race it, stock bracket works well enough for me as I don't plan to run too much power) those 3 mods have completely transformed the car, suspension is a weak point on these cars but they definitely have the potential to handle really well with the right parts
Glad you are in the 3V club. I Had a 08 Bullitt and sold it . I just found a SUPER CLEAN 10 in Red Candy and an Auto. Still the coolest sounding Mustangs out there
10:52 the new charger and Chrysler 300 came out for 2005-2006. the challenger was 2008-09. the Camaro was a 2010 deal. But mustangs have been built every year.
Got a 06GT convertible five speed manual with 40,000 miles on it in 2020 for $11,000. Been enjoying the hell outta of it! Going to add Steeda front and rear sway bars and Koni adjustable struts and shocks this summer to help tackle all the curves around here in Kentucky,
Good vid. For me personally, the lullaby type music killed it a little. I’m still thinking about getting one of these. I love the that the body styling is based off of the Mach 1 fastbacks. I would probably keep it stock aside from exhaust, intake, wheels, brakes and slap some coilovers on to help the nose dive/ body roll
I own a 2008 that gets more compliments than any car I have ever driven and sounds better than most cars out there cams long tubes .Bought it had 46000 today 93000 look forward to driving the car daily .
This whole 1000+ hp culture has distorted the public's perception quite a bit. 320 hp is more than enough to have fun with. Especially for a daily driver. Plus those are reliable 270 rwhp that the 3v can make for hours non stop. Those engines are in no way worse than a Coyote, it's just that their potential is manifested differently.
Have a 2005 GT Convertible with the manual transmission. Was bought in 2018 with 36k. Paid 10,900 and when got in the car was quite like new. Have had it for 6 years and now has 56k. Fun car and plenty fast. Just a great car and completely reliable. It is way better than a SUV, a Hyundai, Kia or another vehicle. The 4.6 is a proven engine and if taken care of will last several hundred thousand miles. Mobil 1 5w 20 and frequent oil changes . Treat it nice
There is some info that is off in this video. First off a 3v doesn't weigh 3700 more like 34-3500 max. Second off you can make more than 350 whp all motor you can make that fbo cams with stock heads and intake manifold. You do an upgraded manifold and ported heads you can get into the upper 300 range if you did a bottom end and jump the cubic inches and compression in addition to those mods you could prob go beyond 400 easily to the tire with a 5.3 stroker with more compression. A 5.3 ls isn't gonna do any better than that. Funny how when the cubes are equal and head flow is equal power becomes comparable. But if you listen to the internet 3v can't make power. They just weren't as setup optimally from the factory. Guys go over 500 to the wheels with a setup like that with a centrifugal even with stock bottom end. Brenspeed has lots of good videos on 3v limits. For the money they aren't a bad option at all. You don't gotta spend 20k in mods to have a pretty quick car contrary to popular belief.
Finally someone with accurate knowledge, under 10k+ car isn't bad at all & only 2-3k$ in mods prob less if you do the labor yourself, when you get fbo & cams w/ good custom tune like lito you can make gen 1 coyote power
I just picked up a roush 427r, an 08 model. Came with VMP performance 500 kit, a set of long tubes, custom exhaust and a custom tune to 550hp. 68000 miles, paid $34000 CDN. Has all service records and original parts with it. #16 for the year. For about 24000 USD I think I got a steal of a deal. The car is showroom fresh. Its the best car ive ever owned. I moved on from AMG mercedes cars which I have had 4 since 2010. This car hands down is better than every benz ive ever owned. Sorry Germans.
Good price for sure, at 113k it is just getting started. Change the oil regularly. The 4.6 is truly an amazing and reliable engine. Have owned a Crown Victoria, it was a two valve 4.6 . It was bullet proof and the Taxi's in New York City have this engine and record 500k to 1 million miles stop and go.
Great job on the video man. I hope you enjoy your new ride. As a former 2008 GT/CS owner I have a few things to add to your excellent review... The CS package could be had on a non-premium Mustang. Mine was white like yours but had tan and black interior, a 5 speed, basic radio, no my color, and did not have the full gauge package. The faux carbon fiber dash panel on yours was missing from mine - in its place was a flat black panel, and the steering wheel did not have the silver trim nor was it leather wrapped. When I had it, popular appearance mods were smoked front turn signals, a Bullitt grille or smoked driving lights, and a sequential rear turn signal harness. I dearly loved mine but sadly traded it for a truck as my needs changed.
It’s 2005-2010. I own a 2010 GT, and it have the 4.6 3v. Ford didn’t bring the 5.0 back in the mustang till 2011. Tired of folks saying 2005-2009. 2010 is a 4.6 3v. Only difference was a small cosmetic touch up, that’s it.
Great video I love my 05 Mustang GT the S197 is great for many reasons . Looks, Performance and reliability plus fairly easy to work on. I couldn't be happier with mine along with my two other vehicles in my collection my 16 F250 and 05 Chevy 2500.
Love my 3v. I have a 2019 gt 10 speed. But I’ll never get rid of the 3v I honestly still think they are the best looking mustangs ever built. Not to mention the best sounding. Mine has Howard rattler cams, longtubes, 2.75” x-pipe with a cat/muffler delete and it sounds amazing. And believe it or not it’ll run right there with the newer cars. Besides the cams and longtubes it’s got ford racing intake manifold, twin 60mm gt500 tb, jlt cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, 4.10 gears, on a 125 shot tuned by Lito. All adjustable rear suspension. On a drag radial it runs 11.20’s on the bottle and 12.teens on motor. It’s pretty much maxed out without building the bottom end but it’s not a race car just a fun car to drive and surprise unsuspecting Camaros 😂. Paid $6300 for the car it’s an 09 premium 5 speed had 103k miles when I bought it. I’ve probably spent close to what I paid for it in modifying it over the years and it now has 173k miles. Still runs and drives great, heat ac whole 9 yards. Would love to throw some coyote rods in it eventually and add another kit or maybe boost it. Probably makes around 500rwhp on the bottle right now it would be a super sleeper with another 100-150hp cuz everyone under estimates a 3v. Everyone calls out my 3v and scared of the coyote 10 speed I have. Works out perfectly though cuz the 3v is actually faster since the coyote only has a jlt cold air, cat back exhaust, and a dry kit spraying a 75 shot. Which with just an e85 tune and a little more nitrous the 10 speed will be way faster soon
I have a 09 GT/CS. I'm the second owner, bought it at 50K. Never seen snow or rain. Garage kept in climate controlled garage. All factory original, just had interior refreshed. Meticulous maintained. 90k miles, Performance White, very well maintained... oil always maintained gold & clear when changed. No burnouts, original clutch that works perfectly. Grocery getter & holiday cruising getaway car with my wife. Only water car experienced came out of a hose. What do you think it's valve is worth? Best-Steve S.
Love my 3V I’m older now , so the sound does it for me. I don’t speed and drive crazy like when I was young. 500hp+ what do I need that for ? A fast 0-65mph into the freeway on ramp lol.
Hey Austin, love your video, i had a 65 T Bird and sold it cuz ut kept breaking down. So i bought a 05 Red Mustang GT and loved it, i had it for a month and sold it to pay all my bills off wich i really regretted. Then i bought a 07 Grey GT with 95,000 klms and both heated seats and both power seats, it was a better car with no rust, I live in Calgary Alberta and paid for both cars $11,000 each wich is what they are going for. I really love my car and only drive it in the summer cuz its a Convertible. You will see in my avitar that i put stripes on it and the car looks awesome. I will never sell it. I love all the mods you can do, by the way im 65 and the car is plenty fast enough for me. The car has 110,000klms on it now and i am the third owner. The only thing im scared of it is changing the spark plugs and im not sure when they were changed last but the car runs flawless. So i was going to leave it till i have trouble with them and get a garage to do it even tho i know how to. What do you think?
Because my 21 year old self thinks the S197 is the best looking mustang there is. Amazing body lines, not too kitted-out like modern cars and not so far away from a mustang like the SN's. And in 2023 not giving a fuck about what other peoples negativity thinks is a necessity.
Im not a 3 valve fan myself. However, i do think it would be a great starter for my sun whenever hes able to drive. Just enough power to have fun, not enough to really cause too much harm.
Same I started out w a v6 2007 mustang it was very reliable only thing that messed up was the thermostat housing lol but it definitely got me into cars.. been getting v8s every since
Yea , don't let those type of people matter, I own a 2005 gt. When people do that to me , I just think yea you just go like he- - and I'll stay back low and slow, enjoying my stang listening to the tunes and that SWEET 3v, exhaust sound. Thinking yea I'll see you some where some day, looking like a stang with a young driver leaving a cars and coffee event crashing into some thing. And high insurance rates, oh maybe worse a totaled mustang. Young mustang DRIVERS just chill . Remember there's lots of others DRIVERS on the road that would like to live and go home to there families. Drag strips or a race tracks good place to let her ripe. Thanks be blessed and peace out.
4.0 V6 was not a good engine. You have to pull the engine to change one of the timing chains. Once you have access it’s easy. It’s a cartridge. I did not know about the two piece spark plugs. This was a good video. Please make it a nice weather only car.
Bought my 2006 GT 3V in 2019 for $12K with 23,534 miles on it with a 4 yr warranty included. That was when the country was under the correct leadership that we got cheated out of in November of 20’
I appreciate your the deal and I owned 4 s197s 4.0, 3V and Coyote. I would kindly say your an idiot about leadership having anything to do with the car market. I've purchased those cars and all my cars in my description over multiple administrations. None the less, nice purchase.
PREACH IT BROTHER , southern-hospitality is way wrong , I work for a ford dealership and have seen how inflation has drive used cars through the roof trucks and cars with almost 100k miles and book price being 30 and 40k and beyond. Sadly with the way the administration in power now has ruined things I can’t enjoy my 3v as much as I did when I bought it seeing as though 93 octane where I live had went from 2.20 a gallon or less to 4.00 and over but nonetheless you are absolutely correct
So you think trump kept prices low? Guess you didn't try buying a house at that time Trump and Republicans could have held inflation down but failed by voting to give bailouts to the people. You probably used some of that money to pay for your car.
I got a green v6 Mustang for it in jan of this year, and i'm on the hook for over 10 grand, but it also has 3 piece rims, a vinyl wrap, and a widebody kit. It turns heads everywhere I go, lol. It's also a convertible too, so that probably ticked the price tag up. Plus I ain't got no credit and the interest on the loan is high. It's got 187k miles on it and I ain't had an issue yet. It's fun af to drive.
Best advice I can give is to crack the plugs loose, but don't loosen them, and then run the motor for maybe a minute. Then remove the plugs.By cracking them loose, and running the motor the carbon build-up is broken loose and then blown out of the cylinder. This helps keep the plug from breaking as often. It's a nice looking car.Enjoy!
Really want a 5th gen and have been doing research and honestly I've never understood the horsepower criticism. The critics always want to compare it to the coyote but the 5.0 didn't even exist yet lol! And the 3v's do respond reasonably well to bolt-ons. $2-3k in bolt on parts should get you in the low 300's to the wheels which is a damn fun little car. Or just go ahead and get a supercharger for 5-k and make 450 to the wheels. Why you would need (or probably more accurately, how you would enjoy) 450 whp in a street car is beyond me. I had a 400 whp civic back in the day and on low boost it was ~280-ish and even that was pretty crazy to drive on the street. Personally, I'm not trying to be king of the streets. I want a fun, good looking, and reasonably quick project car I can tinker with and build how I want.
I wouldnt get a 3v and waste money 9on a lot of bolt ons… just get a coyote.. i bought a 3v but just did intake tuner and exhaust and im stopping there.
Bought an 09 Mustang Gt Loaded. One owner garage kept an only 43K miles. Car never saw rain. Dealership wanted 23k, finally got it 19k. Bought in September 21, prices were extremely high at the time.
@@robertjohnston1383 Nice one. The Challenger was another one that looked good, like an updated '70. The 5th and 6th Gen Camaros just don't translate like the '69-'70 sport roof Mustangs to these '05's.
300 horse is low, but it’s very satisfactory considering I’ve owned quite a few mustangs from the 60s and the 289 only had 210 horse 300 hp is absolutely fine, I’m a leader not a follower, so I don’t care what people think. +2005 through 2009 are the only ones I really like because it looks like a Mustang from 1965 through 1969, I’m in the market of buying one now I have $10,000 and I’m taking my time. I know about all the little quirks so I’m ready.
My dearest drives a 2018 GT Convertible. It's a great car, but I still enjoy driving my '07 S-197 more. It's just a little raw, and rides a bit rougher, but damn it's fun.
The 3v does not have a better trans I'm not sure where that false way of thinking came from but I've been seeing it lately. Just because it's a tremec doesn't mean it's automatically better than an mt82 lol. It is a 5 speed rated 360 torque while the mt82 is rated 400 torque and has much better gearing inside the Trans itself especially for the coyote powerband. The mt82 isn't really that much of a problem it's the clutch that causes most of the lockout problems. Once you put good fluid in it, good clutch and a nice mgw shifter setup the mt82 can hold up pretty good and won't lock you out. Now on the auto side the 5r55 doesn't hold a candle to a 6r80. The 3v isn't that bad for the money spent. In 2010 the 315 hp 3v with optional 373 was only couple tenths behind the new at the time camaro that had over 100 hp on the mustang. It kept up much better than people act like it did. When the coyote came out it was game over for the competition they had to go back to the drawing board. Because the coyote is better doesn't mean the 3v is bad. You gotta put it into perspective.
@@midnight347 true but MT82 is designed for max of 380ft/lb of torque and Ford mated it to a car that produces over 400ft/lb hence people have problems with it. Tremec T3650 is rated for 360 ft/lb of torque and is mated a car that puts out 320, thus it's a better match. If I had a coyote I would swap the transmission with a tremec 6060 or something. the mt82 isn't bad, it just is bad in that configuration
In my 06 I learned about the spark plug issue the hard way this summer lol, luckily I work at a shop which helped a ton but was not planning on having my daily down to the block.
spark plug change is at 100k miles, I guess you have over 100k on it then. otherwise, I dunno what to say. I haven't taken them out of mine. They fixed the head issue for the plugs in 2007. mine's an 09 I don't really expect to have too much trouble with them whenever I reach 100k, I'm at 36k now.
The spark plug issue isn’t a big deal. Regardless if one breaks & gets into your motor, you have the pull the motor and disassemble/rebuild anyways so might as well run it. If it blows then you take the motor out (which you had to do either way) & put a new one in they’re cheap enough.
They still have killer looks and plenty of power, I have a 2011 GT but came so close to buying a low mileage 2007 a few years ago. You can do so much with these. As with all the years, you have to keep the cowl drain clean and unclogged,
Great video👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. I have a 07 Ford explorer sport trac V8 & im thinking of putting some Cams in it. Just got the flowmaster put on and it sounds AMAZING.
Got a 2008 mustang gt stage 1 edelbrock supercharged about 15-20k in mods with all receipts done by a shop car is super clean does have 90k miles but I bought it for 15k when the market was still high
I have a 05 mustang gt that my mom sold to me, it had 90k on it i got it for 7500, it had flowmasters and everything it before she got it years ago with 9k on the dash, i changed the spark plaugs for the first time at 136000 miles, i shot a little pb blaster in it and let it sit for a min or so and non broke on me thank god! I even bought the reall 100 dollar kit for removing broken spark plugs, just incase any body wants to know, you need to buy the real kit and not the fake one, the fake one ive heard could remove 1ol or 2 broken spark plugs and thats it because the threads are cheaply made!
Hey Bobby, i did the same,i bought a 05 and sold it to pay bills and REALLY regretted it so after a month i bought an 07(convertible) and will never sell it.
I’m in OKC and I have a 08 gtcs convertible with a rebuilt title and 89,000 miles and I got offers for 12,000+. The reason I haven’t sold yet is because my trans just went back and I’m not gonna sell it messed up.
I myself am looking and saving and dreaming of the day I have my S-197 GT/CS convertible, manual, in white. I love your ride! I agree 100% with you on the 1st car to start that retro styling and I love the looks. Looks like a 67. I dont like the s550 styling. I honestly would rather have an S197. It sounds better and you can mod it quicker if you want but it's fast enough for me. Great video you seem like a great guy. Cheers from Canada
I completely agree with you man I have an 07 redfire gt/cs and it’s more than enough power for me added a catback intake and tune and it’s a great cruiser and it looks so badass. The s550 is obviously faster but doesn’t even look like a mustang.
So the 05-09 GT has been my dream car ever since I was a kid, I have dreamt of a white/black/silver GT/CS in standard for so long. But after a year of looking, I can’t find one that hasn’t been completely modified, in good condition, with low mileage for under 15k. I’ve been searching nationwide on Facebook and different car websites, I was wondering if someone could tell me where are the best places to look because this has been a frustrating journey and I almost want to give up. I keep seeing people say they paid 7-11k for one with 50k miles on it. Much appreciated thank you
,..my 3v is in a 2010 gt premium. diff body, same drivetrain plenty modified. Not the power coyote starts out with but if doing the right things the sound is amazing & a very capable motor. So fun to drive. With the mods im at 430hp. More than the coyote and small hemi. in stock form.
Im looking at one just like yours they want 15k and it has 80k miles on it I had a 2008 Gt premium but sadly crashed it on my way to work one rainy day, really hope I get this California special tho by far my favorite car is the 3v mustang
Thats car despartlry needs a good detailing, polishing headlights and all. The 3v still puts out good torque.. comparable to a new ecoboost… but the ecoboost likes 93 , the 3v will do more on 87… I wouldn’t recommend getting an ild high mileage 3v and then spending $7500 trying to make it compete with a coyote… just get the coyote.
I owned a 2007 Mustang GT and I loved it. That said, the problem with these cars is they are under powered (minivans get 300HP nowadays), poor build quality and they are over priced in todays market. Back in 2014 I paid 14.5K for my 2007 Mustang GT and it had 34,000 miles on it. Today that car would cost me 18K easy and that's knowing it likely has the bad heads that break spark plugs. I'd rather spend a little more and get a 5.0 coyote or take that same 18K and get a really nice C5 corvette with decent miles.
there is a big difference between 300 horsepower from a v8 and squeezing every ounce of power out of a 4 cylinder minivan, plus the weight is different. 300 is a good number even when racing modern cars, but the higher power cars begin to win at higher speeds, which Im not interested in going to anyways. the 3 valve can still hang on or win with modern cars from 0-80
@@MountainStew02 people often seem to forget. look at what cars are mostly around you on the road, mostly clunkers that have little underpowered 4cyl engines in them. a 300hp car surely can run those off. I even have had people get angry because they couldn't keep up, let alone could definitely not pass.
He is talking about private deals and paying cash and buying some beat junker with 150,000 miles.. i had to pay more at a dealer too for a decent low mileage one
@@lazaromartinez4780 any coyote you get for $15k is going to have 250,000 miles. All over auto trader they are asking $25k+ for decent ones. 3v’s still have decent power.. 400 horse power all you’re really going to do is burn a lot of rubber. I agree though.. its probably worth it to take anotjer $10,000 on a loan and get a coyote… bit the other way to looks at it is get a 3v cheaper and mod it how you want.. some people like the 3v body and sound better.. Then again no s197 is going to handle and ride as good as a s550… so why not go all the way… And if speed is all you care about why not just get a tesla thats faster than any of them. I bought 3v,, it has enough power, and it was cheap… now i’ve already dumoed $4,000 into mods.. completely redid the suspension.. but i agree i should have gone for a s550.. if the market crashes in a few years i just might do so
Got mine for 15,500 and the heater don't work all the time plus it makes a banging noise when I turn it from hot to cold so i took it to the dealer and he said " yea that's normal". I thought in my head this is what a scam artist looks like
Hmm I wasn't really looking for a video like this, but I've been thinking about getting a 05-09 V6 Mustang for my daily driver, I already have a Hemi in my garage and I wana trade my daily Lancer for something more fun, so this video came right on time lol
Mine has right at 120k miles. And I paid right at about 8k so that doesn’t sold like a bad deal but if you could get him down to like 13-14k that would be a good deal and if he has taken care of it and kept up with maintenance.
Dont do the swap. Just boost the v6. When the v6 blows you can probably just swap it with a cheap as dirt used v6. That or just buy a 2nd car
Hell yeah brother, 7.3 swap it.
Best route is LS swapping in my opinion
Doing that now bro ! Make sure you get close to same year so the wires and connections are the same I have 2005 gt and 4.0
I bought my 2008 GT new, and I still love driving it.
Ya brand new
I just wanted to say, as a 56 year old (no, not quite a boomer) Mustang aficionado, I love seeing “kids” your age getting into Mustangs, especially S197’s.
I say kids, because I believe my kids are about your age…😏
I can relate to you because I started out back when I was 20 with a 3 year old Mustang GT, and have owned a couple of dozen Mustangs since then, moving up every time.
I came looking for this comment. Faith in the car world…
I love my 2008 Shelby GT500 The Styling of the 2005 to 2009 is so retro that's why I like it
The 3v has that retroness to it that no other car really has.
Honestly crazy to me how they went from that to the s550 after only having that style for just 2 messily years
I think the 13-14s look so much better
With shit transmissions
Agreed I also prefer the 13/14 but the 05/09 years are so much more affordable especially for GTs. I've already had 3 from that year range 2 of which being GTs. My goal is a 13/14 GT500 though 🤤
Your honesty is from your heart. Not much people are like you. Take it easy my brother God bless.
Finally some 3v content, it’s been years
I've seen some 08s with very low miles for over $20k. That's too much. I love the looks of the 05-09, but ended up buying a 14 GT convertible with 60k miles and I love it.
Yes its too way much when you can a 5.0 for a little more.. the 14 looks better… just have that grey plastic trim on the back painted.
Are you a member of the California Special Worldwide Mustang Club? I am
Yessir! Represent the 3vs! I own a 05 .. The mod world for the 3v is insane 🔥🔥
I did the relocation brackets and upgraded control arms and that car grips like a monster. Still breaks traction sometimes tho
I would say sway bars have the same effect
Don’t coil overs ride like crap? I kept the stock springs but did the rest of the suspension. Rather have a softer ride..
I have a 2008 bullitt with 14k miles. Might have over payed for it but oh well, i love it
Glad you are in the 3V club.
Going to add Steeda front and rear sway bars and Koni adjustable struts and shocks this summer to help tackle all the curves around here in Kentucky,
My son just got hold of an '06 for $5300 with like 130K miles. It's a pretty sweet mustang.
Timeless future classic. Love the white!
THAT IS ONE CLEAN S197 DUDE! LOVE THE ADDITION OF THE GT500 WHEELS.🤟
Bought a 07 mustang gt vert for $2000, clear title. Not perfect but having fun fixing it. Definitely a keeper.
Got my 05’ GT 113k for $2300. Runs amazing and strong engine. Best decision of my life.
Great job! I had my 06 S197 for 13 years. It only needed an alternator and one coil to date..
I own a 2005 Gt slightly modified and I can't wait to stroker it out all motor no boost.
I bought my s197 08 gt 2 years ago for 4500$ I've modified the suspension and replaced the timing plus usual maintenance. Worth every penny....
I got my 2014 mustang 3.7 cyclone when I was 18 don't regret a thing about it beats v8 and faster and newer cars easy
I have a house in New York and a house in South Carolina. Everything I own is registered in South Carolina. No inspection needed. It’s awesome
Just got an 2006 GT with 14,000 miles and I paid $20k and didnt bat an eye. All original including the tires.
Same I started out w a v6 2007 mustang it was very reliable only thing that messed up was the thermostat housing lol but it definitely got me into cars.. been getting v8s every since
Nobody warned me that everyone is gonna try to pass u or race u when u get one of these cars,it rarely happens when I drive my jeep
Type o I meant RIP on above comment, spelling brain far-
@@danherrala2087 i agree
4.0 V6 was not a good engine. You have to pull the engine to change one of the timing chains. Once you have access it’s easy. It’s a cartridge. I did not know about the two piece spark plugs. This was a good video. Please make it a nice weather only car.
220k miles on mine and I will never sell it!!! Best car ever. Full bolt ons, btw, all miles are mine! I got mine brand new
Had a 2001 gt auto. 260 hp. Changed exhaust and 4.10 gears. Tuned for premium gas. Ran low 13s.
Yeah today something like that goes for over $20k absolutely crazy lmao
@@Theedd9991 yet I can buy a 5.7 Daytona edition for 19k lmao
So you think trump kept prices low?
Guess you didn't try buying a house at that time
Trump and Republicans could have held inflation down but failed by voting to give bailouts to the people.
Out of all the retro muscle cars, these Mustangs pulled it off best.
@@robertjohnston1383 Nice one. The Challenger was another one that looked good, like an updated '70. The 5th and 6th Gen Camaros just don't translate like the '69-'70 sport roof Mustangs to these '05's.
And the price keeps getting better, seen some V8's for just under 7k with relatively low miles. (130k and less)
Nice video man, I still own my 08 3v and now a 13 Gt500 too. I just subbed to support ya.
Dude I love watching your videos man! Love the 3v and the Shelby gt500!
@ExhAustin thanks brother, I'm always down to support ya, too. Now that im subbed I'll see future content.
Hell yeah that's a nice combo you got there
My dearest drives a 2018 GT Convertible. It's a great car, but I still enjoy driving my '07 S-197 more. It's just a little raw, and rides a bit rougher, but damn it's fun.
I have a 2014 GT, but I would love a 08/09 Bullitt. At least the 3V have better transmissions.
Got mine for 2200 gt 5speed in 2021. Honestly I love my 3v
found a 1 owner 2005 GT with 104k miles
Hell yeah! I’m buying 2008 Roush 428r for 29K i think that’s a good price for a collector car they only produced 200 in 2008
In my 06 I learned about the spark plug issue the hard way this summer lol, luckily I work at a shop which helped a ton but was not planning on having my daily down to the block.
That's why I just get my local shop to deal with it, I'm ok forking a little bit over for that lol
spark plug change is at 100k miles, I guess you have over 100k on it then. otherwise, I dunno what to say.
Bout a 05 mustang gt black red seats super clean for 6k had 116k miles super clean for what it is running strong still
Good info on the plugs, but is a 20yo Mustang likely to still have the original plugs? Or even the fourth set of plugs?
She looks good in White with black accents
They still have killer looks and plenty of power, I have a 2011 GT but came so close to buying a low mileage 2007 a few years ago. You can do so much with these. As with all the years, you have to keep the cowl drain clean and unclogged,
You can upgrade the head lights and tail lights to freshen up the look of these.
I got 2006 gt with Hot rods camshaft best engine sounds ever.
I can’t afford a 3v, but I can definitely afford to work on my 4.0 v6 that was given to me.
I even bought the reall 100 dollar kit for removing broken spark plugs, just incase any body wants to know, you need to buy the real kit and not the fake one, the fake one ive heard could remove 1ol or 2 broken spark plugs and thats it because the threads are cheaply made!
i sold my 08 GT this year and man i regret selling it. iam now saving to buy another one
Hey Bobby, i did the same,i bought a 05 and sold it to pay bills and REALLY regretted it so after a month i bought an 07(convertible) and will never sell it.
@@Buyford28 yea I had to sell my 08 and my 02 GT to pay bills
Mannnn I’m totally going for an 09 California Special now!!
I’m in OKC and I have a 08 gtcs convertible with a rebuilt title and 89,000 miles and I got offers for 12,000+. The reason I haven’t sold yet is because my trans just went back and I’m not gonna sell it messed up.
I have a 07 gt
Crazy because in the mid Atlantic, used 3v with low mileage go for minimum of $16,000 to $25,000.
awesome points
I myself am looking and saving and dreaming of the day I have my S-197 GT/CS convertible, manual, in white. I love your ride! I agree 100% with you on the 1st car to start that retro styling and I love the looks. Looks like a 67. I dont like the s550 styling. I honestly would rather have an S197. It
sounds better and you can mod it quicker if you want but it's fast enough for me. Great video you seem like a great guy. Cheers from Canada
Thanks man! My goal is to get everyone involved in the car community no matter what you drive!
I completely agree with you man I have an 07 redfire gt/cs and it’s more than enough power for me added a catback intake and tune and it’s a great cruiser and it looks so badass. The s550 is obviously faster but doesn’t even look like a mustang.
Just got a 2010 3V. Pretty happy with it so far! Where at in Arkansas are you from? I’m in central. 🤘🏼
👌
So the 05-09 GT has been my dream car ever since I was a kid, I have dreamt of a white/black/silver GT/CS in standard for so long. But after a year of looking, I can’t find one that hasn’t been completely modified, in good condition, with low mileage for under 15k. I’ve been searching nationwide on Facebook and different car websites, I was wondering if someone could tell me where are the best places to look because this has been a frustrating journey and I almost want to give up. I keep seeing people say they paid 7-11k for one with 50k miles on it. Much appreciated thank you
They nice, but I think the 5.0 is a better platform for tuning and better built. If you don't care about boost, then the 3 valve is aight.
,..my 3v is in a 2010 gt premium. diff body, same drivetrain plenty modified. Not the power coyote starts out with but if doing the right things the sound is amazing & a very capable motor. So fun to drive. With the mods im at 430hp. More than the coyote and small hemi. in stock form.
What mods? I’m guessing your boosted with 430hp
Im looking at one just like yours they want 15k and it has 80k miles on it I had a 2008 Gt premium but sadly crashed it on my way to work one rainy day, really hope I get this California special tho by far my favorite car is the 3v mustang
get a gen 2 coyote. Comes w/ forged internals from a f-150 4-5k some w/ low miles
Great ride, I wish mine was still stock-ish sometimes so I could street drive it.
My 07 GT w/152,000 and still wins trophies as 7-16-23
Thats car despartlry needs a good detailing, polishing headlights and all. The 3v still puts out good torque.. comparable to a new ecoboost… but the ecoboost likes 93 , the 3v will do more on 87…
I wouldn’t recommend getting an ild high mileage 3v and then spending $7500 trying to make it compete with a coyote… just get the coyote.
Sorry. $13k isn’t going to get me a low mileage 2005-2009 mustang gt here in Florida.
He is talking about private deals and paying cash and buying some beat junker with 150,000 miles.. i had to pay more at a dealer too for a decent low mileage one
Why would you spend 13 for a crappy 3v . When you can get a coyote for 13-15k
Then again no s197 is going to handle and ride as good as a s550… so why not go all the way…
And if speed is all you care about why not just get a tesla thats faster than any of them.
@@turbojetpowered8299 oh wow, I didn't know that. So I should be safe with a 2010-2014
How many miles came on it? I’m seeing an 08 GT Deluxe with upgraded wheels tires bumpers intake, 57k miles for 17k$ bad deal?
Mine has right at 120k miles. And I paid right at about 8k so that doesn’t sold like a bad deal but if you could get him down to like 13-14k that would be a good deal and if he has taken care of it and kept up with maintenance.
@@exhaustin yeah thanks. Not sure if I can get this dealership to lower it that much. They strictly sell modified performance cars. Wish me luck!
Bone stock miles under 50k are north of 15k. Hard to find. I’d only buy one with zero mods.
Very smart. Common sense.
