Very nice, and most definitely taken as intended. The Titanic poem is exquisitely eerie.

You are right, of course, Hardy is most remembered for his novels, but he is the poet's poet, he had significant impact on most of the Modernists (& Ted Hughes also adored him). Thanks for this spotlight, it's a great reminder to return to Hardy myself, he is wonderful.

Good day, James. I like Hardy's Tess and Jude books very much. I was moved by the film Jude, starring Chris Eccleston and Kate Winslet, especially the ending. It's my favorite film by either actors. The music is brilliant and enhances the drama, which doesn't need it given the story, which is painful. More so that Polanski's Tess, starring the beautiful Nastassja Kinski. I thought I had his poetry, but I don't.

It looks like a nice _Selected._ I have a _Complete_ which can be something of a bear to go poking around in. And _Tess_ coming up on the channel!-the only Hardy novel I’ve read (and possibly the last 😂).

Since Hardy spend almost 40 years writing poetry exclusively, that Complete must be formidable! I had some of his poems assigned back in college and found him very stodgy. As a gentleman of some age, I'm starting to see his points.
