A VR6 sounds like a vacuum machine! A beautiful sounding engine is an 8.4 litre V10 that they put in the new Viper. VR6 engines are for 90s VW Golfs and Audi Quattros.
A Viper's engine sounds like a beast. 8.4 litres is a huge engine, not to mention it has 10 cylinders. I'm 13 years old, but I do know a lot about cars. I'm not trying to offend you and your car, I just like the sound of a Viper more than a VR6. A VR6 may be an cool engine, but it isn't my favorite. I respect your opinion on the way a VR6 sounds. But to tell you the truth, the sounds aren't too off from real life on Forza Motorsport 4. They can only do so much with the equipment that they have.
forza recorded the actual sound of the car whilst the audi was running as with all of the other cars, its never going to be perfect cause its recorded but they done a great job getting it as close as they can to the real thing.
im actually sure the recording in which he has used. is letting you down more then Forza it self P.s if you Don't Make or design Game software sound or graphic's Plz stop complaining.. (: the sound in Forza is actually pretty good the mic he used to record the sound not so much. BL tho :)
I didn't take offense, i know its a huge engine, and like you said it is all opinion, i just prefer high rpm screaming (excluding vtecs lol) over low rpm rumble. The sounds would be accurate, if the gameplay was dyno runs. the issue is that they recorded the sounds on dynos for most of the cars which makes the sound impure and adds the effect of the 4 bangers sounding like v8s in the game, I love the game i play it at friends houses all the time, i just cant stand some of the sounds. :/
Have you ever heard an Audi S1? They sound raw, and evil 24/7, not annoying like a honda civic. And if you think Forza has realistic sounds you are sadly mistaken. For some cars they sound spot on, but many don't sound even close, for example in forza i4s sound like v8s and the LFA/458 sound so much deeper than they should. Another example is the VR6s an engine which I happen to drive daily, it doesn't even sound close. Watch a video of a vr6 from forza then watch the ones of mine.
It's a shame that in 2012, video game STILL can't get a car sound right. The Audi Quattro S1 has one of the most inspirational, visceral and vicious sound ever. Forza recreation of that epic sound is hundred of miles away from that. It's not even close for god sake. I'll give them 2 out of 10 for the effort. Or more to the point, the lack of it.
It's funny that you say this because Forza Motorsport 4 does have very realistic sounds. In fact, they are the same sounds from the actual car put into the game. That's right, they got the cars, tested their sound from gear to gear and put it in the game. And by the way, the Audi S1 has the most annoying, high pitched sound on earth.
That's just why it was voted as one of the best sounding engines of all time. The vipers engine has no soul, it sounds like its part diesel and it lacks the singing of other v10s. Are you even old enough to own a car?

They should make the sound of the UrQuattro
I think this is hilarious, forza doesn't even have dirt tracks, but yet they add them anyways. GT FTW

Its impossible to capture the soul of the Audi funf in a video game so it seems...
