- Noted musician and Dotara player, Tapas Roy, son of the legendary Dotara player Paritosh Roy, in conversation with Ratan Kaar about the Genda phool controversy.
Certain media outlets had recently misrepresented Ratan Kahar's statements about the conditions under which the song was recorded in the 1970s and why his name did not documentarily appear in the credits of the song.
Ratan Kahar says,
I composed Boro loker biti lo , around the year 1971. The song got recorded later in 1976, and I was not present there during that time, and was not given due credit. Later on, I mentioned this to my friend and fellow musician Paritosh Roy. On hearing the matter, Paritosh felt bad that I was not given my due credit and my name did not appear in the credits list of the song.
Without further adieu , Paritosh took me to the office of Ashoka record company who were the producers of Boro loker Bitilo song and informed them about the matter. Later , they acknowledged the fact and from subsequent albums, like Thelede maler gaadi, I was given due credits for my compositions.
Mr Roy was a wonderful human being and a great musician.
My statements during recent times have been misquoted by some people . I have a lot of respect for Paritosh Roy and if it was not for him I would have never been able to sign the official contracts for later songs.
Had it not been for the genius of Paritosh Roy, who discovered the creation of Boroloker Betilo and its creator Ratan kahar, maybe, the world wouldn't have had the opportunity to listen to Genda phool in the 1970s and in 2020.
Tapas Roy played a vital role in connecting Ratan Kahars family to Mr Aditya Dev, who is the music arranger and programmer of Genda phool. This helped in Ratan kahar getting his dues.

উনি নিজে এতো বড় শিল্পী হয়ে আরেকজন শিল্পী কে এতো ছোটো করলেন কেন?? উনি ভুল বুঝতে পেরেছেন তার জন্য অসংখ্য ধন্যবাদ ওনাকে ।
