Here's a couple of points I've found about beer tasting: The first mouthful doesn't always represent the taste of subsequent ones. It's almost like your taste buds need to be conditioned to beer! Some beers can dramatically change in taste after drinking say a litre. It's as if the taste buds have been saturated. I've also had beer that tastes the same throughout, but it pays to drink a litre or 2, before buying a crate load.
