What I love most about Root is even for his talent. He has absolutely no ego. They mention his catches "it SHOULD have been more" the runs he scores are second to what he has to anchor for a team. He lost it a tiny bit between captaincy and bazballs introduction, but the moment he was told just be Joe Root. What a diamond he has been again. We all knew Bairstow was run out and I've not once disagreed with even Ozzys on it but in the documentary and even giving bairstow his 100th test cap. Root said you cant get out if you stay in your crease. He truly is a marvel to test cricket and ill respect any player of any nation who has been and is. Root. Kohli. Sharma. Starc. The list goes on. As an English man its those players who can score in whiteball that gives you chills. Those that bowl in a way you respect even those jaffas against those you support but genuinely those guys who can take 200 balls to get a century but youll watch every ball because they make you want the game. Some of my best memories have been sat with Australians in the ashes. Sat basically with pakistan support and I was there at Edgbaston this year as we al sang our love to the indies

Really humble. Actually likeable. Class apart. In tests, he is probably the best batter currently. His century in India earlier this year was magnificent. And these back to back centuries were simply too easy for him against a very mediocre bowling attack.
Honestly , the only thing left for him is to hit century and win in Australia he got some 90’s and late 90’s as well but I think this time around he’ll Do it .
Best in Oz 89 in second innings of first Test in Brisbane in pre Bazball tour of 2021-22 during his own beleaguered tenure. It took a fine delivery to deny him. Record Down Under moderate but certainly not bad. Overall record v Oz in OK category.

I'm following test cricket for more than 4 decades much before Root was born. Ambrose, Walsh, Pollock, Donald, Steyn, McGrath, Lee, Wasim, Akhtar, Murali, Warne, Kumble, Bond. The passing era had almost 5-6 teams which had at least one world class bowler if not two. That was the time when even teams like Zimbabwe and Kenya were reasonably good. Would have loved to see Joe facing Lee and Akhtar when they were pure terror and taking batters' heads off
He would have scored nowhere near the amount of runs he has up against those truly great bowlers you mention. He has hardly faced world class bowlers of that calibre over the years.
