Will Caitlin Clark Make the USA Olympic Team?
Nope. Too straight too white too good.
WHO CARES..??? That Excitement Boat has Sailed… And if she does, all that is going to happen is that she’ll be limited to minutes they’ll let her play and while she plays, they’ll ignore her and keep the ball away from her as much as possible even tho she’ll share it with all of them and treat her like a “minor league player” even tho she’ll bring all that money and attention to the Olympics… So why should she go..??? Even if they offer it, she should simply turn it down… Fudge them..!!! Let her rest and train for the next four weeks so she can kick their butts on the regular season.

I’m a male who doesn’t like spectator sports. I only knew vaguely of Caitlin’s College reputation and had never watched any of the Iowa games. I have not been a fan of women’s league basketball until June 2024, but I was well aware of Caitlin breaking Pete Maravich’s (…who I routinely watched when I was a hell of a lot younger) NCAA scoring record. That news made me think that she would end up on the Olympic team after turning pro and that would rekindle my fading in interest in women’s basketball at the Olympics (…because most of my player favorites had retired after the last Olympics). …I was stunned when “Ponytail Pete” was passed over for the Olympic team. After taking stock of the situation, I quickly decided I would forget about the Olympics and I would print out the Indiana FEVER’s schedule and watch _every_ game after the first week of June. I haven’t missed a game and I have been immensely entertained by the Indiana FEVER, to date. I’m hoping for a long association as a fan of the Indiana FEVER. I’m even thinking I’m going to buy a shirt from the league store that celebrates the FEVER and which indicates _why_ I’m celebrating the FEVER.
My only question for Caitlin would be to ask her if I can be one of her boyfriends!!!
The women’s Olympic basketball team is, now, thoroughly dead to me. Even if they were to accept her as a token figurehead on the bench, I’m too pissed off to invest any time in Team USA when the Olympic Games roll around.

Remember the whole league was honoring the rapist Jacob Blake, three or four years ago. And never once spoke up for the poor girl that he had abused more than once. They still have a lot of work to do. CC is a breath of fresh air, but there’s still a core of race hustling activists there.

The last I noticed, Clark and the coach are both white. These players are competitive and this is the way any superstar rookie would be tested. There were others on the committee too. Dawn Staley was on the selection committee for the USA 2024. Plus you have 40+ year old players telling the rookies to earn their spot. Really, they were on team USA as a rookie.

As a Maryland football fan, I experience that every fall when teams like Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State come to town. Sometimes we are outnumbered 50 to 1 in my section. It sucks.

The WNBA is one rich European owner away from being a non-story again, like they were before Clark. If a team overseas was to offer her a multi-million dollar contract with the stipulation she doesn't playin the WNBA and Clark accepted, the league would disappear from the news overnight.

I felt a profound sense of closure when the US Olympic team met the WNBA Allstars and lost. Perfect.
She's fouled on almost every possession. How can these officials letting this happen?
Add to that the fact that she is called for the most ridiculous stuff. That one where the girl grabs her arm as she is passing with both hands, Clark tries to shake her hands off of her and accidentally grazes the girl's cheek for example. Then teeing her up as well before she even says a word. I saw that one. She just looked at the ref and got a technical. That was where her reaction that the "haters" pounced on came in. When she was teed up she reacted, so she was called for a foul for not wanting to be grabbed and thrown to the floor again, then was given a T just because, apparently. Then the referees rationalized the T as being for the reaction she didn't have until after the T was called. The one girl, what Chenedy something giving her a hip check and still being in the game was ridiculous. Angel Reese standing and applauding that intentional flagrant foul that wasn't called was asinine. These people need to get over the fact that Michael has arrived. Did they do this when Michael showed up, or Magic or Bird? These generational players are rare enough. Why are they trying to intentionally injure her out of the league? Imagine if they had done the same crap to Wilt or Kareem.
I worked 2 years security at every WNBA home game for a team in the North East. Nobody came to watch. Only time they could get even close to a sell out was when a few former local college girls would be in town. They had a finals run & still couldn't get close to selling out a 10,000 seat arena. Really 7,500 seats cause they use one end for a Courtside club during games. Nobody was watching before Caitlin Clark & probably won't be watching after!

@@CountryWV I live in the greater Seattle metro area. I have been here for all three Seattle Storm championship seasons. The only games sold out all year was the Finals in the back to back Championships of the aughts. The 2010 season sold out the playoffs and a few regular season games. But you could pretty much bank on being able to get tickets at the door. You could usually get pretty good tickets at the door. This was a championship season for a team that had quite recently won back to back championship titles. You could still get good tickets to most games at the door. That is what these people would fight and hate her to keep in place?

If I were Caitlin Clark, I would insist there be a no trade clause included in any contract I sign in the future. I can't be traded to any team that has Reeve in any way associated with them, from part owner to the coach all the way down to gym sweeper or towel girl. She should be nlackballed for that attitude. The purpose of a coach is to teach and to inspire. What, precisely, is she teaching? How in the world are her actions and words inspiring to any but the most erratic and unmanageable "players." Assuming you would care if Caitlin was playing, I think your attitude is completely unfair. This is way more than Reeve vs Caitlin. There are other women playing on that team, women who have earned a right to be there. I agree that Caitlin should have been on the team, but that doesn't mean I'm going to make the rest of the women pay for that mistake made by Reeve. Women's BB has come a long way, and there are some supremely talented players on Team USA. Caitlin should be there, but regardless, these are talented women playing for the USA and I'll be rooting for them. And BTW, I'm not suggesting you don't have a right to an opinion, but if you watch women's basketball, I don't understand becoming so indifferent because one idiot coach has it in for someone. Caitlin will be fine, and whether she plays this year or not, she'll have several Olympic Gold Medals before she hangs up her sneakers... no one will even remember who Reeve is.
