RE-UPLOAD
Hey guys, some people had problems viewing this episode when I uploaded it earlier. After 2 and half minutes the video went black and the audio carried on, or it would just stop all together. it worked for the full 7 minutes on Safari for me, but not on chrome? Not sure why, but hey . enjoy! (again)
worked fine on chrome for me the first time, now its freezing and going blank in certain spots like you describe. i think its a backend issue with TH-cam and not you mate.
Worked fine for me on Chrome this morning. (using MacBook Pro).

Chrome has "hardware rendering" on by default which means it will use your graphics card to render the video. On some PC's with gaming cards this can cause problems with the video...
Scott Brown Carpentry worked fine for me yesterday. Must be a northern hemisphere thing :)

Nice job Scotty, some good tips in there, friends / family always say why you have so many tools, you just showed why, because to do what looks like a simple job (properly and without damaging anything) you need a multitude of cordless / hand tools, yes you can do any job with less tools but the finished result won't looks seamless or professional 👍👍
Constant gripe of us carpenters. The simplest of jobs can end up with half your kit pulled outta the van. Such is life haha

How do you like the Makita multi-tool? Do you find the battery position interfering anytime? It appears to hang below the level of the blade.

Hey Scott! Great video. But I am searching for a method to “knock” tongue and groove back together. Is that a thing? Our 90 year old porch floorboards are starting to separate from each other with regularity and speed, from the front edge of the porch and now moving back toward the house. What could be going on there?? Seems like they’re spreading out and I would love to get them back together before the wood starts to deteriorate. 🙏

What kind of material is the old tongue and groove boards?
Nice one. Its definately handy if you can tap the board in from the end like that, but more often than not that's not possible, like on an internal floorboard.
I just cut the last tongue right off, and put a nog under the tongueless join with some glue.
Also geez how did you get such perfectly sized boards?? Were they custom made or was it just lucky?
Good tip man, I do that myself when there is no other option. I got lucky with that size! They must of redone the porch fairly recently

How handy do you find the trimmer ie worth the $280 nzd.
why didnt you machine up the new boards with your table saw instead of driving around wouldnt it be more cost efficient or was it a "to do" job?
I was pretty confident I'd get a match, and figured I could trim it a bit if I needed to. Didn't need to though. The trimmer is well worth if you have Makita batteries already. Great tool!

Ive had a contactor build a room and leave it uncompleted for coming upto three months, left their electric table saw behind.. wondering how long i give them before I sell off their tools to cover costs of having someone else finish the job :)

How do you get your business? Do your clients find you from ads, google searches, work of mouth recommendation. It's interesting how this client had you back 4 years later to do a job you've done for them in the past. I wonder if many of your returning clients contact you first when they need a carpenter since they know you'll do a good job and they don't want to fuss of calling around.
Everything is through word of mouth. No adds, only social media posts and friends of friends etc
Would it have been a good idea to just use a router, route it out and then tap a piece of tongue and groove decking into place with a bit of construction adhesive?
I guess that would make it obvious right?
