  • Header and Footer template parts are one of the most challenging areas of using the new Site Editor features in WordPress. These rough edges will improve over time, but until then, we'll have to wrestle with these more imperfect parts of WordPress.

    I had not seen this video before. And I loved to watch it because I had hard times trying to understand and manage to create different headers and footers. And I believe you had to spent a lot of time before being able to make this video. Very helpful. Thank you for sharing.

    This video is rectifying the mess they made. It's not a good UX, I already noticed before watching and your video confirms my struggles. Thanks for your content! ❤

    Thanks for the video. I have not tried 2024 however the footer and menu editing has drove me crazy. Glad its not just me, time and time again I have gone to try to improve my site yet failed in frustration and for years just dealt with it. Not loving my site unmotivated to work on the business or even add content. Sales were satisfactory however I have more I want to share. Your video has inspired me to check out 2024 and your other videos too.

    Hi, Thank you for the videos - I am a newbie to WordPress and I've found it hard going as compared to coding in HTML or coding complete apps from scratch. Anyway I'm configuring a 2024 theme charity type site (just the one). Using 2024 theme along with yourself (and you've helped a lot)..I'm currently stuck trying to eliminate the spacing between header and content element blocs within a template. Traditional Wordpress method is to add a CSS class e.g. .remove-bottom-space-0 {margin-bottom: 0; } ...then to call it for each block with... remove-bottom-space-0 I can not get ths to work in the templates, or the pages that use them... I have a template called 'Page with no title' which I've assigned to my main home page. I need the header to be a different background from the first group on the home page. Vanilla wordpress adds a blank space between the blocks that I cannot edit with margin or padding... Any suggestions please? TIA

    Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I have watched a few of our Twenty Twenty-Four theme videos including this one a couple of times. They have been very helpful and I appreciate the way you present like a 'regular guy'. :) I have 1 issue for my header and its in mobile, the hamburger menu. The drop down list of items is cut off right down the middle. And I cannot find how to modify properties for just the mobile menu. Do you have any videos that get into that more nitty gritty or have any suggestions how to debug that issue? Thank you.

      I don’t have any specific video at the moment. You can change the view to mobile in your site editor and see how it looks + make adjustments. If that doesn’t work, there might be a conflict with the items in there and your theme.

    I haven't worked with blocks this way before. I want to change the footer. A video on the learn wordpress suggests that I can simply replace one the footer for another pattern but I cannot reproduce what the video is asking because there is no "replace" function or option in my wordpress install.
    Is it a case of editing out the blocks in the footer and literally replacing them with my own design or one of the "patterns"?
    I am a former coder of sites and I cannot be bothered coding anymore, it's not my job and I like the blocks ideas but the whole mechanism isn't intuitive in the least.
    Nonetheless, I have watched a few of your videos over this new theme release, so thanks for all that!

    great video, thanks for your generosity, in your experience is it possible to create a different header of a particular page? i have not been able to in the last version...

    • @WPMinute
      @WPMinute  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep. You can build a specific template with a new header and apply that template to a page.

    Is it possible to have a unique header with Twenty Twenty-Four Theme just for the home page?

    When I see how much work you have to put in to make a basic pattern, it makes me wonder why people love WordPress so much. I could build this in about 10 minutes using basic HTML and CSS. I'm still playing around with WordPress, but as I've mentioned before on another of your videos, it isn't user-friendly. I really want to use WordPress, but I can't, because it seems to be counterintuitive and buggy. I love the admin dashboard, that's a work of art that I could never build myself, but it's the customization that is the pain in the arse.

    • @DejanBuric

      Maybe people love WordPress so much because it's easier for them to spend two hours learning how to work with WP blocks, than to spend two years learning the basics of HTML and CSS.

    • @Jack_Warner
      @Jack_Warner 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DejanBuric It wouldn't take two years. It is so simple, even I can do it. I've spent two years trying to get my head around WordPress, and not come up with anything.

    There are too many places to edit stuff and can lead to bad crazy results. It should give warning if you are not in right spot to edit. Also i get lost in the editors not knowing where to find stuff i want to set. It seems to be behind 2-3 clicks wo any hint as to where it is like trying to view the site wo opening a tab and click book mark or go back to admin top left. First time i build all the site header content and footer on the page editor for the home page but needed to do it in the template/front page area. :-( so had to figure out what i did wrong.

    • @WPMinute

      Yeah I hope they expand those options by default or give a global setting allow it.

  • @MarkConstable

    Doh, "lack of viewing landscape?"... just make the damn left, and right panels have the option of floating or pinned. If the panels can float, then the editing canvas behind can remain full width and give the rest of us with smaller screens a chance of getting a better WYSIWYG editor. The constant reflowing of the editing page when the panels are opened and closed is a hideous, unprofessional experience.
