    'What does this company bring to Volvo?'
    Mullets & Moustaches judging by it's workforce...

    This company, whose prospects defy mere superlatives, was closed down after just 5 years of Volvo ownership !

      Some of their products overlapped, like their B10M and Leyland's Tiger (B43) and Lynx (B60). The Tiger was dropped after 1991 because there were more B10Ms sold (just 3,500 Tigers as opposed to 20,000+ B10Ms throughout the 1980s).

    Wow... the 1980s. The golden age of the company promotional video. Virtually extinct today.

    The Swift was not a success at all although had it come out earlier then maybe it would have done better but unfortunately it was up against the much better Dennis Dart which destroyed it big time.

    Very nostalgic, romantic 1980's. Great video!

    You have not lived until you have thrown a Lynx down a country lane with "NOT IN SERVICE" dialled up on the knucle grater and just enjoyed driving. I preferrerd the Ambassador but you didn't get paid to drive one of those unfortunately.

    In Plymouth we had a range of atlanteans. Nicer with every new model. But when the olympians came there was a massive improvement. Smooth, quiet, no rattles on rough roads and much more powerful on the steep hills Plymouth is renowned for.

    Brings back memories of school days here in the Far East, ogling girls from the front upper decks of three generations of Olympians: Leyland, Volvo, then Leyland air-conditioned.

    i remember the leyland tiger in 1959 which was made in the original leyland factory.why did the titan have a Gardner engine ? i could go on, a true leyland will have 0.600 or 0.680 engine and four spoke steering wheel !

    The partnership with volvo didn't go well at all...

    • @grahamariss2111
      @grahamariss2111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was not a partnership, the management sold the business to Volvo, but collapse of the UK Bus market, quality issues with the Lynx and Swift not getting traction in the market and operators wanted a coach they could get support in Europe meant they preferred the B10M over the Tiger. Thus the Olympian was moved to Volvo plant in Irving to become the Volvo Olympian and was built alongside Volvo products.

    I have a volvo. From the 1980s. It’s not very economical and wasn’t considered to be then either.
