Padmabhushan Vidushi Girija Devi was a distinguished Indian classical vocalist of the Banaras Gharana. She was called the Queen of Thumri for her inimitable style of rendition of Banaras-style Thumri and Poorab, Chaiti, Dadra, Kajri, Hori, Sawan and Jhoola. She equally mastered the art of presenting Khayal in its most expansive form.
Girija Devi was one of the star performers of the maiden Bengal Classical Music Festival 2012, Dhaka, where she brilliantly portrayed a Khayal in Raag Bihag and then offered glimpses of her mastery in Thumri and Dadra.
Bengal Foundation invites you to enjoy and experience exclusive renditions of Indian classical music by some of the finest artists of our times.

She told " they are trying to scare me thinking that i won't be able to sing fast 'taans' because I am old, I won't be able to sing in 4 times speed. I will sing in 4 times speed, I will sing in 8 times speed.
Please list names of ALL musicians on stage. Thank you. Love the music 🎶 ❤ 👌 💕
The lady on her right hand tanpura is Piu Mukherjee...
Pandit Sanjay Adhikari ji on Tabla
Janab Sarwar Hussain ji on Sarengi
Vidushi Rupashree Bhattacharya ji on harmonium
@@koulickchakraborty8498Piu Mukherjee is least important here
@@sunreetchakraborty7692 apart from vidushi ji I know piu Mukherjee. I don't agree with you. Every least important musician is later a prominent figure. So respect everyone... Everyone must be given importance and opportunity.
