I really enjoy these audio books. The narration is delightful! But one thing stands out to me in all James Harriot stories and that is the amount of alcohol consumed. Must have been many alcoholics around in those days.
Give me a break. Ignorant comment. People working all day most of the week doing hard physical labor, outdoors lived nothing like yourself today. Apples to oranges your relatively sedentary life to theirs with the affects of booze nowhere the same. Visiting England more than once, most people nowadays drink at pubs nightly. Doubtful most are raving alcoholics.
I am mystified by the random insertion of the music. It doesn't come in between the chapters in a sensible manner, it just seems to be thrown in randomly. Other than that, it's lovely to hear the stories again after so long.
The music between each chapter is jarringly LOUD. It is annoying to be hastily adjusting volume every few minutes! Does it NEED to be 10x the volume of the narration? I think not.
It was wonderful until the it was abruptly cut off and we never found out what happened to poor little Amber the dog with mange all we hear is that irritating voice telling us to sign up with their
