    I don't go to the yard for less than $4-500. I have 2 loads of prepared steel now. I just got back from selling non-ferrous, $600 ! And I work a fulltime job (industrial maintenance) so all my scrap is given to me for free!

    Last guy looks shred Steel had never been so high. It's like 10 or $12 per hundred pound. Normally it's about half to two-thirds that much. I realize you look for the more precious metals but right now still is the quickest mover with the most pay.

  • @kevtris

    those protection devices appear to be very large MOVs (metal oxide varistors) to protect against power line surges. Kinda like the ones in power strips/surge suppressors but whole building/house size instead.

      @@ProjectShopFl I would never scrap that and other valuable items without testing if it's still in good working condition. I understand it can be very tedious and time consuming to test, when it could easily be scraped fast, but some items are very expensive even when sold second hand worth much more than scrap metal.

  • @whiz31

    You know by looking at the video I also noticed that you actually separate out your steel and apparently the yard you sell it to buys it independently from one type to another. The yard here in Central Florida do not discern against any type of Steel being better than the other it's all considered shred Steel going to a melt pile. So you literally just drive across the scale, weigh your trailer, dump everything and then come back to the scale. No fuss no muss because it's all just Steel.

    • @ProjectShopFl
      @ProjectShopFl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are ripping people off there are many grades of steel and when dealing with tonnage it makes a big difference

    • @whiz31
      @whiz31 ปีที่แล้ว

      Now they do buy different types of stainless independently from irony Shred, or melt steel as most people call it. And I think if you had like plate or some kind of grade A or top-grade prepared steel they would give you a little different money but you have to take it to a different part of the yard.

    You used to process scrap with the concept of touching it once, now with the 'lets make $2500 idea you're double and triple handling it. Weight it, strip it eight it stack it etc. No profit in that or losing is more like the process. Go back to striping and processing and showing how much you can make. Also show and tell of your toys or whats wrong with them e.g. the crane and battery on the old trailer.
